Let me just agree with Chris Okano on natto: when I was in Japan on a limited budget, it helped me a lot. It costs next to nothing and is healthy (at least that's what they say). I wouldn't say that I've become particularly fond of it, but I don't feel so disgusted anymore.

Happy to know you're a natto lover, Chris. I love to eat it with egg york, ネギ, and a tiny bit of honey. Stir the hell out, the more you do the better - doing so adds more "umami" to natto and makes it nutritionally richer. Believe me, it's true. (I'm Japanese.) A lotta times I see gaijin ppl trying natto, and they never stir enough, nor do they add the right ingredients.

He's not the fastest cyclist because you guys have him on the worst possible bicycle for this sort of trip. An hour in a bike shop to get slicks and a few other adjustments will pay huge dividends. Also, all I know about natto is that Rachel (of and Jun) did a video on Japanese etiquette saying you should try really hard to eat anything a Japanese host serves, unless it is natto which is so gross you are forgiven. But in any case, thank you, thank you, thank you for this series. It's awesome.
