Lol so yeah...when my jumping spiders babies emerged from the sack, I quickly discovered there were escape holes in their mothers enclosure 😅 The enclosure was beside my bed, my gf woke me up in the morning just like "ummm...babe, there are spiders..." as she points at the enclosure and they are literally all over.. outside the enclosure, all over my desk, hahaha it was chaos... At this moment when I didn't freak out, but instead laughed.... I realized I had become one of those weird bug people..

Very cool. When we lived in Japan we often had jumping spiders in our house. I taught my family to celebrate them. We always allowed them to roam free and reduce the number of pests in the house. Cute little things!

And jumping spider is better than long daddy leg ones. Because they dont do webbing. But that means they can't catch many insects especially mosquitoes that usually fly around in the ceilings

That mesh was a cool idea. I use coffee filters, because they let some air through, but the spiders can't pass through them. Tarantula slings will chew a hole it them, but jumping spiders, isopods, and mantises never figure out that they can do that.
@raebookworm40133 жыл бұрын
I gotta keep that in mind for my future isopod colony (haven't had the chance to set one up yet), because that's a good hack.

Aww they are so tiny the jumping spider slings. I got most of my jumpers of a lady who breeds them. One was a surprise cause it was hidden in with a mantis of all things. I caught it, and put it in a small tub with a net. It since enjoys fruit flies. The bigger 3 I have are now on green bottle flies. I'm also up to 11 tarantulas, but got them all as slings, and are doing well. I use a massive white tub ( not see through) so it makes it easier to see spiderlings. Catching all those baby jumpers would of taken ages, but worth while. Cool video Kat & helper Fiona 😸👍

You should have just let them loose in your house. That's what we do with ours. They really help with all the flys & nasty bad bugs around the house. We have black widow & the bigger ones we have go after hem which is great when having kids. It's funny & cool when we will be sitting in a corner reading or on the tablet or even sitting in the window & they will follow us around or come down & look at us like "hi what's you doing?" or "what's you reading?" 😂😂😍😍 My husband loves the wolf spiders & he has found a two as big as Tarantulas that he has let loose in the bathroom. He didn't know at the time that wolf spiders could get that big. Didn't even know you had a little girl she looks adorable 😍

I think maybe if you prekill some fruit flies, the babies would probably eat. They are so young and fragile at this stage they probably aren’t hunting, instead they are probably more scavengers right now

Last month I caught a grey wall jumping spider on the wall of my stairs.. I had a terrarium tank and substrate, so figured wth.. a week later, I got the right substrate and she seemed to be happier/more active.. from what I read, I was certain she was a female, but never thought breeding or brooding would be a concern for me.. just woke up this morning to find a new egg sack encased in a web cocoon with her standing guard just inside the first layer of web. So adorable and precious.. but I'm afraid by thanksgiving, I'm going to have too much to be thankful for and gunna be in over my head..
