These are the same people who cry a river when they are scammed online or otherwise. If you treat people like commodities and tools, don't be surprised when they treat you the same. Imagine the situation in reverse, old Gambian men going to England and exploiting young English women. This documentary would have an entirely different slant.

It happens in Kenya too. Brits, Germans and Italians come here for holiday, and pursue younger men/women, and even (unfortunately) underage girls. It's a sad sight to behold, but if it involves consenting adults it's their business. When it involves minors, that's just unacceptable.

I have an African friend who lives here in America. All day and night, his family, relatives and friends are calling him begging for money. No matter what he tells them they are desperate and continue calling. The real tragedy is the poverty and corruption of most African countries. The women have choices. A couple of observations: 1. Michelle's man seems like he's kinda high whenever he's being interviewed. 2. The fact that Michelle nor her man can get his age straight is a red flag. 3. Michelle was stammering a lot when trying to explain that for rent sign. 4. When the lady at the end was crying about her pain that she's in when she gets back to the UK, it was the presenter who rushed to console her, not the man who claims to love her. That was interesting for me.

Very good and informative documentary. Another side of this is the Gambian women, many are abandoned by their husbands for a European older woman. And it is a disaster for a woman with children in such a poor country. I've tried to find the documentary I have seen on this issue to link here, but I can't find it. I lived in The Gambia for a year and used to visit the beachfront stretch around the Bungalow Beach Hotel and The Kairaba Hotel in 1995. This issue of old women coming from Europe to sexually "feast" on desperately poor locals (aka bumsters), is not a recent matter. Kudos to Seyi Rhodes for doing a decent and balanced reportage on this ongoing subject. By and large, The Gambia is a great tourist destination for people who are desirous of escaping from the cold wintry days of Europe and the rest of the world.

I actually think he began with a fifty-year-old middle-aged Gambian men and a 58 year-old middle-aged British white woman just to shake it up so that one wouldn't put on moral glasses, not that one shouldn't but he wanted to be able to begin this documentary without initiating a bias from the get-go due to age disparity. I think it was achieved this by showing us two middle-aged people who loved each other & who got married and their families were involved in the marriage, the family of the man who lived in that country was involved which is usually what they say marriage is about, although with older people it is less so.

On the whole, if both parties are happy and getting something positive from the relationship, all the best to them! Part of me thinks “good on them”, but I certainly see the issue of exploitation. It is deplorable that the country is so poor that the men see this as a way out. However, to my mind these men (all the guys interviewed were definitely adults) who decide to form a relationship with an older European woman in the hope of a better life are still better off than the little girls in Thailand or Cambodia who are sold into sexual slavery as children and have no choice at all - and white men of all ages have been taking advantage of that situation for decades. 😢 Really thought-provoking and interesting documentary!

The younger African Men are going for the old white women because the old white women have money to spend on them. The old white women are going after young African men because often these days some men when they get 54 years & older, they can no longer do because they are suffering from ED. SInce when has money not being an issue in any relationship regardless of age. You must be aware of the many marriages that have ended in divorce. Many of them started with romance and love and yet ended in divorce because MONEY wasn't available for bills, babies and beach lifestyles anymore. And, again, this had absolutely nothing to do with AGE.

What a dumb question. Because young men in their own nation don't want them anymore, but they can parlay their white features into an advantage in nation where the men don't normally see whites. It's kind of like how even below average white men can get more women in Japan because they are so exotic looking.
