These are the same people who cry a river when they are scammed online or otherwise. If you treat people like commodities and tools, don't be surprised when they treat you the same. I lived in The Gambia for a year and used to visit the beachfront stretch around the Bungalow Beach Hotel and The Kairaba Hotel in 1995. This issue of old women coming from Europe to sexually "feast" on desperately poor locals (aka bumsters), is not a recent matter. Kudos to Seyi Rhodes for doing a decent and balanced reportage on this ongoing subject. By and large, The Gambia is a great tourist destination for people who are desirous of escaping from the cold wintry days of Europe and the rest of the world.

Very good and informative documentary. Another side of this is the Gambian women, many are abandoned by their husbands for a European older woman. And it is a disaster for a woman with children in such a poor country. I've tried to find the documentary I have seen on this issue to link here, but I can't find it. I want to thank the journalist for the way he meets people.

Do y’all actually believe that those men abandon their women they get that money from those white women and share it with their families they just lying saying that they are not
@cmendy1809 Жыл бұрын
This is not true, I am Gambian and I can tell you that they not abandon there Gambian wife’s, the men have several relationships at the same time, and most of the time the Gambian woman knows about the white women, they are glad that the chance of money exists, besides that can Muslim men have up to four wives.
@maidsua4208 Жыл бұрын

I really wish they had included the perspective of local Gambian women. Do they feel like the dating pool has been severely restricted or do they feel lucky that it now excludes a very specific type of man that they may not be interested in? In what other ways does this phenomenon impact the local dating pool? So interesting.

I actually think he began with a fifty-year-old middle-aged Gambian men and a 58 year-old middle-aged British white woman just to shake it up so that one wouldn't put on moral glasses, not that one shouldn't but he wanted to be able to begin this documentary without initiating a bias from the get-go due to age disparity. I think it was achieved this by showing us two middle-aged people who loved each other & who got married and their families were involved in the marriage, the family of the man who lived in that country was involved which is usually what they say marriage is about, although with older people it is less so.
