I'm also glad you found it funny, especially since I know you don't like these albums as much as me (although I recall you liking "Playing With Girls", which is a Rock N Roll Card essential 😉). Looking forward to watching your Flick of the Switch review....!!!

Cool video Eddy! Thanks for that. Btw Ive always thought that twos up was a game the the ANZAC soldiers used to play during the war. Involving two coins being thrown and bets being made. I. E. Gimme heads, Gimme tails, Gimme double up or nothing! Peace out ✌️😊

Fly On The Wall has been my second favorite Brian Johnson album (after BiB) for 15-20 years. Everybody gets stuck on the production, I remember critics saying it sounded like it was recorded in the Alps. But the songs are some of their best from the 1980's. Fly On The Wall, Shake Your Foundations, Playing With Girls, Sink The Pink, First Blood, ... those are all killer heavy songs! The only song I don't like is "Danger". Fly that flag high, man! Fantastic review of two classic, underrated AC/DC albums!!! I'm glad someone likes FLy On The Wall as much as I do. I would still like to hear a remixed version of this album though. Fly On The Wall falls in at #7 on my list with a 9.25, even above Back In Black which is right below with a 9.15. Blow Up Your Video is a bit further down the line at #15 with a 7.75. And in that Amazon box is the new Black Sabbath Box Set, Anno Domini on vinyl.

I always liked FOTW. I was a kid at the time and as far as I was concerned AC/DC were the only band worth listening to. Granted this was the mid 80’s. Radio music was of course awful and I never really cared for heavy metal either. I wanted loud and toe-tappin’ so AC/DC it was. A few years later I discovered punk and an entirely new world opened up to me. It was the aggressive, no-frills sound I had been searching for all along. At that point AC/DC were kinda put on the back burner. It wasn’t possible to like both, those were the rules lol. People had hang-ups over that kind of thing that have largely fallen by the wayside. Anyway, it’s probably also not a coincidence that AC/DC were at their lowest point at this time. Both BUYV and Razors Edge went completely ignored by me, as did Live and really the entire resurgence in popularity the band were experiencing. To me it was for the dorks. AC/DC were old news, a shadow of their former selves. That all changed once Ballbreaker hit. But that’s another story. Point is I still don’t like BUYV much and especially dislike Razors Edge. I will listen to them now and again out of curiosity but that’s about it. Oh and yes FOTW is actually kind of great. Sounds like sh*t and most of the songs would benefit from some judicious editing but it’s AC/DC’s rawest and arguably punkest in a way. Can’t remember where but I once either read or heard that the original master tapes lack reverb. One can dream.
@EdwinCannistraci3 ай бұрын
@@badmofaux Thanks for commenting. I actually knew a few hardcore punks who were into AC/DC and Motörhead (I myself bounced between metal and punk in my late teens), but yeah: most of those subcultures can be very dogmatic with what you can and cannot listen to. Although I like BUYV more than you, I’m with you on TRE (my least favorite AC/DC album) and I agree the band got back onto the right track with Ballbreaker (love that album). I do think with some editing and remixing, FOTW would be elevated to classic status, but I still love it even in its hot and messy released state. 😜
@badmofaux3 ай бұрын
@@EdwinCannistraci I still remember the first time I heard Hard as a Rock. It was playing over the radio in a crowded room. Once that riff kicked in it was a true holy sh*t moment. It sounded like AC/DC! First time I’d had that feeling in literally a decade at least. Overall the album suffers here and there and yeah it was never gonna be the band in their prime, but it had the right feel and the songs were consistently good. Looking back I guess that was the zeitgeist as many legacy acts seemed to regain their footing and status around that time, from AC/DC to Tom Petty and Neal Young. From that point on everything the band has done has been on point, IMO. Not saying it can complete with the Bon era but I don’t necessarily expect it to. And yeah punk and metal were already well into the process of blending in the 80s with the crossover thing happening and of course Metallica and Anthrax really showing the way. I was kind of a reluctant adopter of that stuff but I did eventually come around. Really what I mostly like are melody and hooks. So for metal just doesn’t quite deliver altho I do like it here and there.

I happen to think the lyrics to the Fly album are fucking brilliant! So vivid and thick with scum. The whole album is like a sleazy, heavy metal version of James Joyce's Ulysses, only taking place in some squalid little downtown strip of shithole bars, strip clubs, and late night diners. The Brian character is fresh out of prison and back in business as he roams the streets, dodging cops, courting trouble, and drinking himself silly with the boys.

The Production value on Fly on the Wall was pretty bad! Blow up a little bit better, Drumming on both was not that good! There was some really good songs, But Brian vocal were not as good as say Flick which was awesome. These two Album i think was my least fav ACDC albums.

Fair enough. Always glad to get different opinions. You should check out that live clip of "Fly on the Wall" I have a link to in the description. You'll hear, at least with FOTW, Brian's voice was still in great shape: it's the production on that album that makes it sound less impactful as his Flick vocals.
