This channel is all about sharing simracing experiences throughout my learning and progression in the use of racing simulators. Assetto Corsa, Automobilista, rFactor 2, RaceRoom, Live for Speed, iRacing, .... I'm learning to race on the Simulator but trying to do so as close to real life as possible. This requires discipline, technique, equipment, ...
Hope to bring in videos that capture what I'm learning as we go. Enjoy!

Willi Kausen drove his 917/10 here along with other Can-Am carsand I'm pretty sure they used the complete track:- Sudescheife and Nordschleife in Interseries racing. I think Ralph Kellners in his March 701 took the lap record for the complete lap that is North and South loops combined in 1971 I think, this was the last time the complete lap was used until they demolished the Sudschleife to build the Nurburgring GP circuit

@zeus 5029 - I'd rather see the driver this car was designed to be driven by - Mark Donohue, but unfortunately, that can't happen. Mark spent time in Germany helping Porsche design and engineer this car. He probably had more technical expertise than any other driver at the time - he earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Brown University. He reportedly said this was the only car he had ever driven that could spin the massive rear tires at 200 mph!

Wow, great driving. That 917/30 looked like a handful even in a sim racing game. I can't imagine how tough it would be to drive a 1500 bhp race car with a spool around a track. I bet it's a very unforgiving vehicle trough the corners when you don't respect the power. The thought of that much power with the rear wheels locked at the same speed at all times is unbelievable.
@JOSimracing
@JOSimracing 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot wackomanx. Indeed, I can't imagine what would be driving that beast in reality in Nordschleife... Power is brutal but, perhaps, this is one of the cars where simracing can't make a fair representation of reality. I am not sure how you will replicate such accelerations! Thanks for watching. It is sensational to see the 917 driven so close to the ragged edge. The driver certainly has BALLS. @JOSimracing
@JOSimracing 7 жыл бұрын
Regarding the BALLS remark, you could say so within a simracing context... But the most you can lose is a few minutes, then back to pits and another go. A real life driving context with the 917 at Nordschleife would be a different thing altogether... I guess I would be a little bit more cautious ;-)

Hi Rick, sorry for the late response. I still have the G27 around but I've replaced them with the Heusinkveld. I did invert the G27 anyway and that was much better than before in their standard position...

I have this other video where it shows: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rabPiWCOat-orcU Being the tourist version, you have to break before you reach top speed but I was already on 373km/h. I'm sure that we suitable setups you can get closer to 400km/h on the full straight at Nords.

@Erik Truchinskas - It did set a closed course speed record at Talladega Speedway of 221.160 AVERAGE speed, proving its top speed was over 240 mph. No other road course machine has even come close to that and that was 46 years ago! It was so dominant that it caused the demise of The Can Am series in the U.S. and Canada. The car had enough horsepower to spin its rear tires at 200 mph!

1,600 hp in a 1,200kg car, yes... I think the only people who'd really know what that would be like, are the ones who've done it. If you've ridden an early '80s 1100cc Jap 4 up a gravel road, where more than half throttle in top gear will give wheelspin, then you have some idea... The excess power is just so obscene, so ridiculous... Every moment, every heartbeat, the road changes camber, and the surface changes, and the fall-line points some place else, and the back of the bike goes where the fall-line goes, which means the rest of it goes the other way... and if you fart at the wrong moment, the throttle might jam open... Have you young fellows ever wondered why there is a kill switch with the starter button? Where you can reach it with your right thumb, without having to let go the twist-grip at all? There is a REASON for that....

JO...I know the real car was the first to have that turbo adjustment knob available to the driver on the fly. I'm a fellow simmer and a physics modder myself and have built this car for a Can-Am mod I did a couple years back. In researching this car I found it apparently hit 240mph on the back straight of Daytona running at full boost. I still prefer GTR2 for the physics of the game over the newer games. Just sucks that the Race 07 series lacks the content of GTR2 or I'd be playing that. Most everyone in the sim forums I'm at have the same comment/conclusion that after trying all the newer sims like AC and Rf2 etc, the newer games are far prettier graphically and the sounds generally are better but the physics are kinda generic feeling by comparison to the older Simbin titles. Can't say personally but this seems to be the typical comment from those who have tried them. Awesome videos and even better driving! Nice rig.
@JOSimracing
@JOSimracing 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks again and for your contributions as a modder. I think it is not properly recognised the great work and contributions that modders brings to simracing. It wouldn't be the same without you all. And as for the feeling of newer vs. older sims... I liked a lot my GTR2 sim but the limitation on number of controllers make it difficult for me to play it in my main rig. However, I prefer the FFB of rF2, AC or R3E. From my perspective they are more evolved and perfected. But, I'm sure this is very personal and subjective. It will be great to meet you on the track and I wouldn't mind having a bit of a better understanding on modding... Where to start?

aw thanks mate. I'm currently working on something called Absolute Le Mans Part 2..it encompasses the years1970 through 1983 I think it is. It really helps that I enjoy the researching aspect though so many cars were one-offs and rather obscure so sometimes it's really difficult to get legit. Other more well known cars on the other hand have all the needed specs to make the physics spot on. There's so freaking much to learn though with the nuances that can be done in the hdc and tyr files, it's always a learning curve lol.
