I have learned so much from you in the past couple of months! these tutorials are great and fills out the gaps I had! I have seen a lot of xgen tutorials on youtube, but never about what happens next - the whole workflow of rendering hair which is attached(or parented?) to the character which moves. Meaning - how to make hair to follow the character and make it flow accordingly to the characters movements. How to prepare the scene(cache or convert guides to something else?export to .abc?) for the batch rendering. I've been trying to solve this puzzle by reading Autodesk support pages about dynamic curves, Nucleus forces and how to save and setup dynamic curves for rendering..on the paper it looks so easy! If you ever have time to look into it and make a tutorial, I think you will be very popular and super appreciated :)) anyways, thank you. I'm a big fan!

Hii, I found your tutorial but when I change the hair direction (with the comb) the hair stays the same but only in the render, I can see the changes on my modeling screen but it doesnt affect on my render, do you know why?

thank you for this tutorial but when i start to use the comb tool, maya shows me a massage : open cl is disabled, open out put window for more information. and it doesn't work..... (also i checked the out put window but it just shows me of the other actions i did.... and nothing about comb tool or xgen

Hey Monica I love your tutorials. They are clear, too the point and help me make sense of this cumbersome piece of crap Maya is. One question: If I create more than one XGen description on a surface, the later ones can not be combed. Other tools, like increasing density do work. Restarting Maya fresh does not help (as is usually the case when Maya tools go sour). If I delete the first description, my second description can be combed... So it seems only the first description can be combed. I can groom the descriptions separately in scenes with only one description, save and import one description into the other, but then the second can not be combed anymore. Do you know a workaround for this? Thanks.

This looks like a great tutorial, but it is not bringing me to the promised land of a good groom. Following your directions precisely I keep getting the same error, and I am not allowed to comb or sculpt. It says "no active description to use with" and then "Need to specify a valid sculpt node to groom on". Everything on my screen looks just like yours, but that comb brush (and other tools, including the sculpting tools) only brings up errors. Did you skip some important step somewhere or am I missing something obvious...thanks?
