Gosh, I love that tower near the end of the video. That walk in the mountains looked like the highlands of Scotland.

Another fabulous video! I love the way you always say "It's okay" or "It will be okay" when you meet a challenge, such as big climbs or wild pigs. Buen Camino!
@NadineWalks2 жыл бұрын
I don't even know if I realized how much I say that!! I guess those are my little pep talks, reminders to myself that most challenges are things I'll be able to get through (and that some aren't that big at all).

@@NadineWalks Do not ever stop saying that! I find it so comforting and motivating. Hopefully I will be walking my first Camino next year and those words will come to mind and keep me going on many days.

Nadine, I am really enjoying your Camino del Norte videos. I walked from Gijon to Santiago in 2018 with my son and again this year with my daughter. We walked Lourenza to Abadin for our version of much of this stage. We walked the mountain route you walked, having bought a kilo or so of cherries in Mondonedo, which we ate as we climbed and shared with other Pilgrims. You will probably see this after having left Vilalba, but, if not, the Parador is worth the charge if only for the bathtub. Skip the breakfast buffet and go to the little bar around the corner that serves great breakfast pastries. It may have been the Bar Pafe. When you arrive in Santiago, if you would like a break from the albergues at a reasonable price, check out the Hotel Via AcetaL, not expensive and a break from albergues. Again, thank you for your videos. Buen Camino.

Thank you so much for these recommendations (but unfortunately, I'm already finished with my walking! I walked in the summer, and I'm very delayed in posting these videos). But I loved that you also walked the mountainous route- I love picturing you eating your cherries as you climb up that mountain :)

Loved the instant salad bowls you could get from the supermarkets. It was a bit difficult getting regular doses of vegetables in Spain - those salads really helped. I finished the Norte a week or so ago now. Enjoying the nostalgia of watching your journey. Buen camino!

I really like those salad bowls too- easy and inexpensive and a quick hit of veggies. And having just finished a week ago, you must be really missing the Norte and the walking!

Well, that was a happy accident... and by the looks of it a pretty magical walk. I'm really loving those deep holloways you're walking through... one almost expect faerie folk to peek through. Cheers and adventure on!

For sure a happy accident (I think it was my favorite stage of the entire summer!)

Hi Nadine, great walk. Need a few coffees to loosen the joints. Your track is approx 12kms vs 17kms on the lesser route, while you had 640m of incline (in to Abadin.) The incline period is short which exasperates the challenge. But the views from the top as you hug the windmills are epic. You made the right choice.
@NadineWalks2 жыл бұрын
I definitely made the right choice, what a great mistake. It really WAS my favorite stage on this section of the Norte (and maybe my favorite stage of the entire summer? It helped that it was such a beautiful surprise!)

We just did this same walk ten or so days ago and because I was travelling with my mother and her broken arm we were advised the upper mountain route was too dangerous. Man I wish we had taken the upper route. We would have had a little rain and wind but we could have handled that. Wish I had known earlier darn 🤦♀️. We also stayed at the same albergue with the guitar singing hospillaterio. It was an amazing day. I used his singing as my background music. Stunning. Such a beautiful moment he gives everyone.

Nadine, thanks for checking out my day 31 video. It was a special day. If you want to see the lower/longer part of the route that you didn’t take (Lower vs. Mountain route) check out my day 30 to see what I saw. It was almost exclusively pavement. I have been your sub since you started everytime I need a Camino fix. Can’t wait to see the rest of the trip. We got home yesterday and I’m looking at going for a walk. 😂.
@NadineWalks2 жыл бұрын
Going for a walk is the best thing to do when you've just gotten back home and are missing the Camino! I'll definitely check out your other videos- I went right for Day 31 because I wanted to hear the music, but I really like seeing your perspective and, like I mentioned, it's so nice to see the route in a different season! Enjoy being back at home!!
