Always loved Elvis' version of this song. His version is so strong - you can hear the despair and sadness in his voice. But just discovered Ms Jackson's rendition. Really like Ms Jackson's version too. Her voice is much like Gladys Knight's voice. Love it!

This song is touching. When I was a kid, my late cousin Janice Beckett would listen to this while staying over my mom's house. At the time, I would cuddle with her as a kid, as I was her favorite little cousin and she was mine. Little did I know, she was dying of kidney disease but she would always stay positive. This song was sad back then but it reminded me so much of her. She lost her battle and I could never find this song, (and only remembered a little part of it's lyrics) or any rendition of it until I heard the late Dobie Gray's version, then the search continued and I was able to find it in this day and time. Glad that over 40 years later, I got it! Didn't even know it was Millie Jackson.

I have listened to this song more than any other song in my entire lifetime! Over and over and over...Actually, along with the second track "Making The Best Of A Bad Situation" they got me through many, many days and road trips alone blasting Millie. My absolute favorite!! They were the theme for my life. I stood in line at at record store in Akron, Ohio back in 1977 to have her sign my album. Being a teenage white girl back then none of my friends had a clue who she was, but my college best friend had introduced me to her music and it resonated with and still does to this day. Thank you to Millie Jackson for the "Caught Up" and "Still Caught Up" albums. I also absolutely loved "If You're Not Back In Love By Monday" on a later LP. ❤❤❤❤
