Stay focused mate! I’m around 10 weeks now and it’s much better, improvements every day. Rest up and once you start physical therapy just work hard everyday 👍

Sorry to hear this! I’m glad these videos have been helpful. I’m now 5 months post surgery and it feels great. More or less back to normal. Still a lot of strength to build in the calf muscle, but no mobility issues. Good luck! Keep your head up and work hard in PT!

Typically a full rupture requires 4-6 weeks in a cast and then the boot for better recovery. Hearing this for the first time that you were allowed to come Out of the cast in two weeks. Hope your recovery was good.

Hey, that's what I thought too! From asking a few questions, I believe the newer guidance is leaning towards less time in a cast to help with mobility. Sooner the ankle joint can move the more mobile it will eventually become? Not a doctor but that's what I've been told and read about!

I’m week 1+ after surgery and anxious to get my cast out and into the boot to feel some improvement and closer to recovery 😅 already

A huge sense of freedom once you come out of the cast! Keep the boot on to stay protected from any falls though! Good luck 😁

@@KSPerformance 🤦🏻‍♂️doctor put me in another cast for a month, it is closer to a 90’ angle so some slow process, didn’t want to question he’s approach so hope I can get in a boot after.

Thanks alot for your content man. How have you recovered so far? I got surgery pretty soon and was able to get a doctor that will do a soft cast so that I'd definitely a plus for me because of my phobia if hard cast. I hope your recovery is going well and hope you are back at doing the things you love

I’m approx 7 months post operation now and I just got clearance from the doctor! I’m back to playing football again, not at a high intensity just yet but feeling good. The longest path is getting the strength and size back into the calf, which will probably be a few more months of work. Able to do single leg calf raises and jump off the leg again. Feels good to be close to pre injury! Keep working on your recovery! All the best!

Hey Ivan, I actually stopped making these videos after the second week. It was tough to keep the videos up as I wanted to focus Al of my energy on recovery and felt better doing that. I’m here to answer any questions though. I’m almost 2 years post so can answer plenty of questions!

@@KSPerformance Thanks mate. I am 4 weeks post op, so I found your video right around the same time where you were as where I am right now, i was hoping to hear your journy. So I am in a boot now with wedges, but I found my ankel is very tight to be able to flex up and down the toes, were you like this? I have a 35 degree contracture at moment. e.g. my heel can not touch groud due to shorten tendon when in a natrual position, were you the same? and how long takes you to get back to natrual flat foot position?
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance Жыл бұрын
I had the same feeling of stiffness at the ankle joint! It did take some time to get the flexibility back, and that’s where the PT is vital. I worked a lot with range of motion and now my injured ankle is actually more flexible!

Sorry to hear you are going through this. It is tough at first, but know it soon gets easier! The first couple of weeks are taxing as you are dependent, but after that, your sense of independence comes back! Stay strong through this!

Had the same thing happen to me a month ago. I was misdiagnosed but when I went to the orthopedic I had a complete rupture. Had surgery 10 days ago and it's a struggle but I'm feeling better by the way.

Glad you are feeling better now. It is tough at first, but focusing on the small achievements throughout the process will help. Such as first getting cast off, then moving the toes, moving the ankle etc. Good luck!

Did you shower without the plastic covering? Did your doctor say you can safely get the incision wound wet at that point? I am on week 4 and I I haven’t stopped using a plastic cover because my incision wound is still a little bit open and I don’t want it to get infected, so I’m just curious how you went about it
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! Hope this helps…. I showered with the cover on for a few weeks. I waited for the doctor to give me the all clear to get the incision wet. Think that was around 5/6 weeks. I would double check with your doctor but my instructions were to keep it covered in shower until incision fully dried up!

Ah I just posted on your first vid but you answered it here - aircast can be taken off while sleeping. What did you do? Did you wear the air cast while sleeping? I am scared that something might happen while I'm sleeping - is that irrational?
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance 2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t wear the cast while I was sleeping. I used it throughout the day but once I went to sleep I removed it and just kept my leg elevated. I was the same way, but unsure if it would be ok to sleep with it on. No problem for me with sleeping without it!

I wish you a speedy recovery! I’m 3 months post surgery now and it feels great. Apart from the obvious weakness in the ankle/leg (getting stronger every day) it feels like nothing ever happened! best advice for now is to work on mobility in both ankle and toes, also the bike helped a lot so far!

Hi thank you sharing! Since you where in the walking boot at 2 weeks post op when were you allowed to start gently stretch your tendon? At what week did you start PT? At what week did you come out the walking boot? At what week or month did your body/tendon feel good to do activities?
