Steel cut oats are great with canned pumpkin purée, coconut milk, cinnamon & maple syrup. Mix all together & pour into a buttered baking pan. It’s like pumpkin bread. Fall will be here before we know it but this is tasty all the time.

When I was in college I used to make cold brew in a French press. I stand by using freshly ground coffee beans (coarse ground in this case), the flavor is so much better. I used to get the coffee from the bulk section at Whole Foods and it was super cheap and I was able to grind it there too. I’d do one cup ground coffee with 3.5 cups water and I think I let it brew for 36 hours. There are certain optimal amounts of time for cold brewing coffee that I do not remember but it’s a bit of science so I’d look into that!! Hope this helps lol

My favorite oatmeal recipe: one serving of oats, half water and half milk, one to two tablespoons of chia seeds, half a mashed banana, and cinnamon to taste. Mix it all together and leave it in the fridge overnight. Perfect balance of sweetness plus some sneaky protein and some nice textures. Plus it's pretty cheap considering how healthy it is. The only expensive ingredient is the chia seeds and you don't need that much

YAAS I don't know where the shame for quick oats came from in the last few years but I'm happy they're coming back to knock steel cut oats off its pedestal. I found the best way to use up my steel cut oats was literally to make a big pot of it in the beginning of the week. I just made it plain to use as a base every morning. Then you can just add whatever toppings and eat it hot or cold. Bada bing bada boom

emily!! stop guilting yourself when it comes to the packaging/food you buy! it isn't your job as a consumer to save the environment, it's up to governments to enforce laws and regulations and stop letting corps/industries get away with polluting our planet. capitalism is killing our planet, NOT US AS INDIVIDUALS!! we live in a world where the most nutritionally valuable/inexpensive foods is typically packaged. you are doing everything you can

@@Sum.Mer444 i agree, but often times wealthy corporations put the burden of environmental sustainability onto the consumer to separate themselves from the damage they are causing in terms of the harm of their production, emissions, etc. while we as consumers have power in the way we vote and purchase items, i often see young people anxious over the state of the world we are growing into. we feel the pressure of a crippling environment, and it feels unfair that young people in poverty/lower middle class make up the majority of people that are enviornmentally consious and environmentally anxious. in reality, over 90% of emissions, pollution, litter, deforestation, etc. are from industries and these industries are given tax breaks from government systems (like America.) so yes, we can do our part as consumers but i hate to see people like emily (who is vegan!! the meat industry is one of the most harmful industries!! she is already doing so much as an individual!!) stress over the microscopic impact that their purchases will have on the environment.

EASIEST & BEST-TASTING Cold Brew recipe: You will need: -1 or 2 disposable brew bags (purchase on Amazon) *Do not use the reusable ones because they don't filter as well, but you can try to dump out the disposable ones and re-fill them if u want -Your favorite pre-ground coffee -Water (filtered is definitely superior) Steps: 1) Add .75 cup - 1 cup of coffee grounds in each brew bag and place in cold brew maker or jar 2) Pour in 5-6 cups of water (depending on strength preference) 3) Put cold brew maker/jar in refrigerator and let brew 12 hours (8 will technically suffice) 4) Remove bags, stir well, and taste (if brew is too strong- you may dilute concentrate slightly). 5) Pour cold brew over ice and add in your usuals
