I purchased a headboard and had fastened it to the bed frame. But now we could not lean back against it. My wife was disappointed but accepted it. Hi Rob, I like your videos overall including tool reviews, I was looking for a reference video for Customers who are interested in how they go on the wall. I install a lot of Headboards (Bedheads in Australia) and while I occasionally use the metal type I've pretty much gone to french cleats on most. I also mount the cleat to the recessed section of the bedhead (matched to the depth at the rear) so when on the wall there is no gap (architrave situations excluded) between it and the wall. On drywall (? plasterboard here lol) I locate studs if possible otherwise I use the Ramset crimp anchors x 3. Haven't had one fail in almost 10 years of that method, and overall I find it quicker and the levelling more accurate. Anyway, love your work.

My headboard depresses in back and doesn't line up with the studs on the parts that are flush, so looks like I will be framing some. Good video

Hi Rob m planning to hang one this weekend. Using those clamps or even french cleats, would the headboard wobble like it’s not really tightly fitted? Will there be such a problem?

Is it possible to purchase a regular headboard with legs (unassembled) and wall mount only the headboard part? Even though I’ve watched several DIY videos, I don’t want to make my own upholstered headboard. I e tried to find upholstered headboards (without legs) meant for wall mounting, but all I’ve found are panels that you buy several of and place together for one headboard. Thanks for whatever help you can provide!

It should be fairly straightforward, easiest method is by using a french cleat on the back of the headboard. Search french cleat mounting on youtube, plenty use the method in workshops to hang various things, I install lots of headboards (Bedheads in Australia) and 99% I do go onto french cleats, they are a very useful method to conceal-mount many items.

Vertical cleat for what purpose? These cleats can be used for all sorts of hanging items

A brass bed doesn't have a solid back to attach anything to.... how do you attach the tubes or posts to the wall?

Sharon Montour you could have custom brackets made, try to use pipe clamps in the thin balusters or drill a hole and fastening a long fastener thru the brass post and into the Wall.
