Good morning! We are approaching the 3rd week of Advent and sadly the last week before Christmas. The 4th Sunday of Advent falls on Christmas Eve so it'll be a whirlwind of 3 days next weekend. I hope you all are having a wonderful start to your weekend and hopefully the sun will come out. 🙂

Hi Jen, I'm Italian American (from New York) and though I can't speak for anyone else, I find homemade sauce for lasagna and the use of ricotta mixed with romano pecorino cheese instead of cottage cheese is better to the taste of the dish. I My sauce is simple, and I find it important not to overly spice. I also do not use Italian seasoning or oregano in lasagna sauce and no mrs. Dash! Recipe: 1 9×13 pan; 1 box of lasagna noodles, boiled just until pliable. Cheese mixture: 1 32oz container or whole milk ricotta cheese mixed with 1 egg and 1/2 cup grated Romano pecorino cheese; pepper to taste; a sprinkle of salt (because the cheese is salty); some freshly chopped parsley; 1 cup shredded mozzerella cheese. Now, though a meat sauce would be preferred, a plain red sauce is just fine. I use 2 28oz cans whole tomatoes that I blend until smooth. I like Nina brand, But, use which ever brand you'd prefer.(Do not use anything that says kitchen ready). 1 large onion chopped; about 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil or about 2 tbs dried; I teaspoon sugar or to taste ; some fresh or dried chopped parslry;salt and pepper to taste I do not put in chopped garlic, but if you care to use it, just use a little. If you have a cheese rind, add that to the sauce. Or, while the sauce is simmering, I add in a small palm full of grated cheese. Please, please, do not use the jarred stuff. It's like fake cheese, lol. First, saute onions in about 1/4 cup of olive or mild tasting oil until soft. Then, add all other ingredients and simmer on low flame for about an hour or until it tastes right to you. The flavors need to meld. Adjust seasonings if necessary. When you layer your lasagna, place some sauce in the pan first to prevent sticking. Then, place lasagna noodles, about 1/4" thick layer of ricotta mixture spread out onto the noodles with a spatula, a little more sauce on top of that sprinkled with some more grated cheese. Repeat layers until the last layer of noodles.you can add sine more mozzerella to your layers if you want and to the top just to melt at the end.Top with more sauce. Cover with foil and bake in a preheated 375' oven for about 45 minutes . Remove foil and continue to bake about another 15 min. until cooked. Close off oven. Let lasagna rest about 15 minutes before cutting. I hope you'll try it one day❤

Happy birthday to Peter! Maria looks adorable in her prairie dress. Many years ago, we visited one of the places where the Ingalls family live in South Dakota. I believe it was near DeSmet. We missed the Christmas train coming to the Detroit area because we were traveling back home from the Minneapolis/St. Paul after visiting our oldest son and his family for Thanksgiving. I was thinking of you all as we drove through Warren, Wisconsin! There were many signs for the annual cranberry festival. It was nice you included the lighting of the Advent candles and I loved seeing all the reminders of your Catholic faith interspersed with your Christmas decorations! A blessed Advent to you all!

I am enjoying your channel so much. I am amazed at all you do in a day......there was a time when my boys were young life seemed crazy, but at 70 yrs old now, I just sit back and enjoy them so much! The little ornament you showed with 1977 on it, was so fun. We got that very same ornament in our wedding shower and I still put it on our tree. Oh how I MISS it!! So many prayers for love and peace for you and and your precious family this Christmas time and always…🌟 Ps..Blessings for your daughter Amber as she starts her nursing career! She has a rewarding but difficult road ahead…I hope she sees this as a calling or a mission for that makes the hard days smoother and the happy days absolutely joyous! I know this because I spent 40 years of my life caring for patients at the bedside and it was a wild rollercoaster ride, especially those last ten years! I’m still an RN, just retired for now. I've found that if you shake the cans of beans before you open them you don't have to worry about beans sticking to the bottom. My favorite mascara is L'Oreal butterfly effect. I like the shape of the bristles they're shaped so you can reach the outside lashes without any problems and it doesn't clump

@21:24 I always use cream cheese instead of cottage cheese in my lasagna. I never have cottage cheese on hand. I know it sounds odd, but it really tastes good with cream cheese. You don't even know it's in there, but the lasagna just has a rich, creamy taste and texture.
