Over the artist:
Hi. My name is Santana Hagedorn and artist for acrylic paint pouring and fluid art from the Netherlands. This form of abstract and modern decorative painting is done with Acrylics brought to the right consistency with various pouring mediums, oils and additives. By moving the paint layers, playing with different tools or adding heat I create different effects. Very messy and very fun. The Paintings can be don't know canvas, MDF frames, tiles or other flat surfaces. Can also be used to make daily items and gifts unique f.ex. little boxes or ornaments.
If you like my art and would like to purchase or custom order feel free to contact me via comment, email, Facebook or Instagram

Please be kind and respectful with comments. Sorry that I tipped over the middle one which was of course to be the perfect one. But you see what not to do very well. Don't give up!

This is just what I needed. Thank u I am new at this so wanted to know how to make paints thicker. I bought on line the paints that all you had to do was pour but they were to thin..

This is the first time someone has explained how consistentcy is important in each of the colours. Thanks so much. I have heard some paints are heavier and sink, some are more transparent. I now have a more educated guess so I get better cells.

A great video of consistency and what happens when too thick/thin/just right. I would have liked to have seen you stir and show the consistency of each before you began which may have helped to visualise the just right consistency but overall a great demonstration, thank you. x

Thank you very much for this video it helps a ton. I've been doing pours for a week or so now and have a few pieces I like. Currently I'm trying to do a piece with a few different techniques to achieve a space themed pour. I started by creating a background with black and then white stars from a tooth brush. I let that dry and now I'm working on creating a nebula. This is where the consistency comes in as I'm trying a thin pour and then moving it with the blowdryer to make a cloud like look but I'm hoping to have some of the stars from the background show through. My first attempt was to thick, it moved well with the blowdryer but didn't allow any transparency. Not entirely sure if the effect I'm looking for can be achieved but I'll keep trying and learning from what happens. I'm going to try again thinner, while adding more stars to my last layer once I let the it dry. I'll be doing thicker pours for planets, it was helpful to see the thick sample you did stay in one spot which may work for what I'm thinking but I'm worried about it drying. Not to worried about silicon not coming through with the planets, small cells are ok with me there. Finally I wonder if you have done anything like this before? Mixing different techniques to achieve landscapes or other things of that nature. I do enjoy the freedom of randomness that this art form allows but I'm curious to see how detailed things can be. I've seen wing pours and feathers, flowers and clouds, just curious to see them blended together a layering of techniques to achieve the bigger picture. Again thank you for the information and I'll be watching more. Have e a great day!

Thank you so much. I had a problem with a new brand of paint I was using could not figure out what I did wrong, was the paint to thin or to thick. Your video showed me it was to thin. Please keep me updated on your videos. Again thank you so much.

True. Each has its own pattern.just for the"standard" look its rather important. For example with the thin example it will mainly just disappear

I've been trying to do these pours but haven't had much luck. I think my paints have been too thin. When I go to move my painting, the paints have shifted to the center of the canvas. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, much appreciated.

So would using a HeatGun protect the cells from cracking?
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what yoh mean. A heat gun has the same function as a torch. To pull cells tp the top. Its not drying them. Only the right concistency will keep the cells stable. Check out the basic playlist for all the background info

Thank you for the demonstration. 😁 Without knowing what your recipe is for each of the three pieces, how can we know when our mixture is too thin, too thick or just right? If we don't have the right recipe then we can't be consistent. I've been doing this for a few months and I get decent results but I would like to know what recipe others are using that is consistent for them. I have tried 3 in 1, I've tried coconut milk hair serum. I do not get consistency in my cell size. I have not been able to figure out what I need to do to get large cells. That's why I enjoy hearing other people's recipes.
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 6 жыл бұрын
If you look at my other videos or group I keep preaching that there is no magic recipie. The only purpose of ANY pouring medium is to keep pigments together. Then you add water and as demonstrated the concistency does the rest. Silicone, Dimithicone (part of coconut thing) is just oil. Oil that rises thru the paint IF it has the right concistency to make cell's. That's all. To get the right concistency is just expirience. Hope that helps

FluidArtbySantanaHagedorn - thank you so much for your reply. I've been doing this just long enough that I've done a lot of experimenting and you're right. It's just trial and error and paying attention to what you're doing and then using the thing that works best for you. You gave a lot of great information about when it's too thin and when it's too thick what happens because it's too thin or thick. I really enjoy your videos!

Anne Flannery if you have trouble pinning it down limit the variables. Use 3 colours and do 30% pouring medium. Go from there and you'll see what changes only with different concistencies

My question about consistency is this: most videos say to mix the paint and medium, plus water (in some), to the consistency of melted honey, that drips freely from the mixing stick. I know this is different for different colours and brands. So if the consistency is always this, should the pours then be good. I am sure you are tired of this universal pourers question! Thanks for showing the experiment, I see my pours in these (not so much the good one).
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 6 жыл бұрын
The concistency should always be the same . Then you're alright. I also always have the melted honey advise but my honey still mighy be different to yours. It's really a few drops difference. If you can't pin point it go back to 3 colours and 30% Pouring medium of your choice then water.(that's what I do. There is no need for a magic recipie. It's purely to bind pigments) Then you can see the change only having these variables with concistency. It really is expirience.
