Is it ever OK look at your paper sides to read from, when you are doing a self-tape audition, or should it always only be totally memorized? And is there a difference, for example, if you are auditioning for a voiceover role (like in an animated movie, advertisement, commercial etc.) where only your voice will be used and not your physical self on camera… But the Casting Director has requested that you record a self-tape using a camera, instead of just a voice recording for your audition? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Kurt! This also makes perfect sense.... I recently started using a self-tape service for my auditions (just to have a reliable reader), and Ive gotten back to back callbacks so far. Having to rely on family and friends was stressing me out because I always felt like I was on a clock, and sometimes could pick up the "is this done yet energy" lol

I’ve been thinking about this show I wanna know what you think. This is part of it tho The Renewal It’s a group of teens that have been facing some horrific events after they summoned the demon “OMA” who was a slave in the 1700s and her slave owner fell in love with her despite his family racist views and later he finds out that she’s pregnant by another slave owner and he snaps and kills her and her boyfriend but before she actually died she gave birth to her son that she always wanted to raise and have. And a child was found killed behind a corner store and a man was found killed in his house and it leads investigators questioning what’s going on cause they both had HUGE scratches on them. While the teens try to stop her the teen Marcus learns that he’s a reincarnation of her son. AND MORE! But I live in Delaware 🥺😭 nobody has anything in Delaware

I should try this. Problem is time. They want these audition tapes ASAP. So I end up sending my audition with no one reading the other part. I think on the bright side is that they’ll see that I have my lines down without cues from anyone else. Any thoughts?
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
Highly recommend you stop doing that. They want to see you reacting to the other character just as much as they want to see you speak. If you can't find a reader in person, you can do it via Zoom or Facetime. If you can't find anyone to Zoom with you, you can try reader services like WeAudition.

I’m 16 years old and started acting classes back in august I was wondering how big of a difference would it be to get an agent when your younger or when your an adult?
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
The biggest difference is that you will need a parent/guardian to sign the contract if you are under 18

Do you think a german can become an actor in Hollywood. How can I find out, if I a have the talent to be one?
@liquidbraino3 жыл бұрын
If you want to get more work learn to do an American accent. I have a friend from Germany who's an actress but it took me almost a week to learn that she's German because she never speaks with a German accent (her natural accent). She perfected her American accent before she ever arrived in the US. I've heard the same from other actors that came here from different countries - if you can't do an American accent you'll be very limited in the number of parts you can submit for.

@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
I've never used it but I've heard that is an excellent app and definitely a good alternative you don't have a reader
@markusshelby34363 жыл бұрын
Okay now do a video for us at don't have a great reader that have no option but to use who we can use. And yes I am in acting class and no nobody helps one another because everybody has professional jobs and when it is time to do an audition it's at a drop of a hat. I did have my talent agent for professional audition. But ever since this covid virus talent agencies have become lazy they don't want to help you with your auditions they lock the doors and hide from everybody you can't see anybody you can't talk to anybody. You're lucky if they answer your email in a week but yeah you got 2 hours to turn in .

you can use apps like Actor Trade and WeAudition to get a virtual reader. Honestly, I've been using readers via zoom for the past year
