I love the start of a new painting. It is just a wide world of discovery if I choose it and I do! It's the most free time for me and I often remind myself during the process of creating a painting several times in fact to think feel and act like I'm at the activation phase - just to free up my mind.

Pauline, I love to watchmen real time. When it is sped up it tends to give a beginner like me a sense that I should be working faster ie: a slight sense of inadequacy

That makes total sense. But you can tell it's sped up so you know it does actually take time and patience : )

dear Pauline, thank you very much for the great video. I have a question that has been on my mind for a long time. Do you fix your charcoal lines at some point with fixative? I sometimes do this when I particularly like a thick coal line and I want to keep it. Kind regards Conny

You’re most welcome Conny! Yes. I fix charcoal if I want it to stay put. For sure!

Pauline, could you please tell me where you get those huge charcoal round sticks. None of the places like Blicks seem to have them? Many thanks.
