got nostalgic, came here, made a summary: Life purpose is about constructing meaning in your life ALL VALUE IS CONSTRUCTED - by the human mind - it's not out there in the world Meaning is relative Question to contemplate: "What is meaning?" - Meaning is how an observer interprets value in the world - Meaning is what something has to say/offer to someone - The contrast of what's relevant to you as a survival machine There is only meaning subjectively Significance is relative to survival Meaning is something that the mind created so it could navigate reality and not kill itself It includes all duality: priority, good/bad When a meaning becomes "very real" for someone, it becomes emotional When we interpret ourselves to be "not enough" at something, we believe that's real. We forget it is something we've created (through some situation, comparison, trauma, etc). It becomes somehow absolute. The solution is to realize we are doing it. Meaning is a system of contrasts. It uses duality to exist. Your mind projects meaning into reality The point of ego/selfishness is to be a net to navigate reality, otherwise inavigable to survive (too much information, needs to be filtered) Your mind uses meaning to manipulate you Being is what you actually experience. It has no meaning, purpose or value Being is infinitely more profound than meaning People chase meaning so much because they think it's inherent to reality What if I strip my life from meaning? - You realize its illusory nature / it loses its grab on you / you stop chasing it - The problem is you've been creating meaning in your life WAY BEYOND what you need to survive, to the point that it became neurotic 2 ways of constructing meaning: - Unconsciously: you don't realize the mechanism that is creating meaning (yourself), and your emotions will depend a lot on if what you think is good is happening to you - Consciously: you become responsible for the meaning you create, realizing all the unnecessary suffering involved. You decide to create meaning out of reasons that make sense to you. Don't trick yourself into thinking the destination is the whole point of the journey. It's the process. It's all just being. Some people get addicted to results and goal achievement. It's never going to be enough, like an endless rat race. Meaning doesn't bring long term satisfaction Meaninglessness is not negative, it is just meaningless. The practical side of this teaching: - Usually, people only allow themselves to be happy once they have meaning. That's the "wrong" way to go about it. It breeds a feeling that your life is always less than you thought it could be. You life will feel hollow because meaning is inherently hollow. - The option to act from detachment: you don't need to do anything, you can be flexible about what you do - Freedom from attachment allows us to be flexible in life. The same for being conscious of the relative nature of meaning. - The key to true moral behaviour is losing the sense of self-importance - Meanings charge your perceptions. When you remove all the meanings, your perception is clear, peaceful, objective. Everything is absolutely pointless. It's a great thing. Being is above meaning, having, doing From being comes deep satisfaction and happiness True freedom to play life however you want Relaxed, playful, spontaneous

And while i of course understand this intellectually i am still unconsciously doing it all the time and almost NEVER question it. It is so freeing to see that I MYSELF am creating the meaning vs me seeing the world as it is. The world is not as it is!!! The world is 100% how i interprete it. Beeing consciuous of that .... WOW!! I love this video. I've decided that being relatable is important to me and the deeper I go with self actualization, the further removed I feel from the way others think. I've decided to try to strike a balance between evolving to my highest self and staying slightly "asleep". May sound silly, but this space feels good to me... knowing there's more, knowing existential questions are unanswered, understanding belief systems, emotions, triggers, etc... and still having moments that are decidedly superficial and meaningless, just like everyone else. Lol

YES!! Thank god! Leo, you are ... you know it. You are... yeah! Enlightened! You'll be that guy whom never stopped talking and that only spoke truth. You direct every understanding back to its core, which makes it extremely vulnerable, but you design constructs of understanding which is flawless. People just can't "get you" anymore. This is amazing to see. You just don't ... care anymore. And so you develop yourself without the caring-part. Incredible. Just incredible! And sorry for defining you, a lot of people don't like that. Thank you Leo. This is very relatable to me. I have been listening to you. I had a teacher who really hit everything you talk about, in such a way that I cannot even put into words. And I feel that the teacher I had really gave me a huge head start in personal development when it comes to grasping meaninglessness, constructs of meaning, diversity of perspective (Morality being relative and nothing being good or bad) and in becoming aware of how I hold myself in chains. However, my 6 month intensive with him was a few years ago. He consistently expressed how important it was that I forget what I learned. I realize now that he meant that I actualize it. Though, I'm really at a point now where I'm as you say, having a midlife crisis(my plural) and find that my trips into ignorance and comfort and distraction are getting shorter and shorter as I realize more and more, the bliss of being, and exploring. I find I have less and less capability to express what I feel and am realizing, and also feel less and less compelled to need to say anything. And like you said, that aspect of play, seems to be spontaneously arising in aspects of my life. However purposelessness and purpose are still aspects which I struggle with. Survival is a powerful neurotic. I am learning a lot from your videos and appreciate your emphasis on the importance of meditation, and the magnitude of study. It really shows that there is so much further to go and that is really exciting. I especially like your video about loneliness. Some of the things you say are encouraging and offer me some confidence in the path I'm taking. All the best, Thanks again, Enjoy your day, Jordan

Watch his video from last week about training and how Demosthenes improved his communication. I would say step one to communication is make sure what you're saying is relevant. Step two is organize your thoughts in your mind in a clear and concise way. Also, "How to Win Friends and Influence People," Chapter 2: The Big Secret of Dealing with People. And lastly, utilize your mirror neurons and IMITATE world class communicators. Imitation is a powerful tool that all apes possess. Don't neglect it.

So many memes and stuff to look at... And you Leo are still the funniest and most absolute intelligence out there. I'm sure people always tell you that, but I'll like to repeat it for the sake of my comment. You have one way of explaining, that you can create a zero to a hero. In such a way, that you manage to bring out the essential for the more advanced ones, but also for the complete newbies. Not sure what a meaning do the ordinary minds have to you... but if the less aware ones completely agree with you, people that usually get into arguments, then you must be doing something more than right. Great stuff, once again.

Hey Leo! I want to thank you for this incredibly deep insight! I have bought and applied your life purpose course to the end. Thanks to this, I have began an amazing career shift, following my bliss, witches about blending artistic forms such as music, dance and poetry. And thanks to this course, I have reconnected to my most sense like desires and I have read discovered this incredible passion and strength to do the work I need to do to to fulfill my mission in life, through my professional life. But also, the complete paradigm shift you are talking about provides a complete new opening and perspective on what life really is. There is so much work to do to really grasp and experience what you explain in this video. However, just listening to this episode several times with great attention has made me see the complete absence of purpose of this all and the importance of just enjoying it and being. I can really see which tranquility this mindset can bring to life. Realizing complete absence of meaning of this life could also be summarized as: not taking things too seriously! Watching this video is already making me so much more relaxed about my objectives which now really seem relative. This is actually how I want to live this life. Because it actually feels better and so much more relaxed: achieving your life purpose on this planet, while at the same time knowing that it doesn't matter at all actually allows us to play life has a game, rather than to feel as if you are fighting all the time to achieve what you want. Besides, it is also very funny, very entertaining and very interesting to follow your growth: The contents of your videos have evolved so much. I have watched every single of them for the very beginning. And I admit having been critical about some of your claims especially in the videos which you produced after using psychedelics to enhance your research on the nature of existence. I also have to say that I am not completely sure if what you say in this particular video is the absolute truth, because my nature is to be a pure skeptic. I like to always leave the door open to other possible interpretations. Nonetheless, I like your demonstration and I want to Live this life in the way you are exposing here. Cheers everyone and take care, Leo.

I am at 4 minutes right now, and the answer I come up with about what is the purpose of meaning is that it keeps the ego alive. It's like meaning has to exist in order for ego to exist. Ego is there to give a meaning to a fundamentally meaningless thing. So I, as ego, attach the meaning to something so that I, ego, can survive in some sort of a way

After watching many of these videos and working on personal development this one really did it for me. I got up and made a banana protein shake then as I was just causally reflecting on the nature of infinity while meditating in an orchard I was overcome by sheer ecstasy. I always had thought that meditation and the third eye Eastern concept was a bunch of mumbo jumbo but , it was as though my pineal gland was physically pumping out serotonin. Fantastic. If that was " Seeing the tail of the ox " then fine - I'm completely satisfied with that definition. I came here to say thanks but, words fail me.

I find it so great that you made a video about this topic! I wrote about it in my book, and it's so crucial to understand and implement. I haven't watched the whole video yet, but up till now we have come to the same conclusions, which indicates that you can really find out about all these fundamental, hard to grasp topics through logic (although that's an issue for itself of course, etc.), and maybe find out some kind of "truth" about the world, if no one can really argue against it. Now I can challenge my conclusions and argumentation, thank you!

I agree with everything you've said. One of my favorite books is 'The Beggar' by Soul Lavee. It talks about what you are talking about and if you haven't read it, i strongly recommend it. The book has a very simple philosophy and that is "JUST BE!" and boy did this hit home. I have become a very relaxed individual since adopting this method, and things just happen in my life, mainly things i never thought of, of planned on acquiring. Love your video!

Thank you Leo for your insightful videos... To me they are like feeding my consciousness, because unfortunately most people in this world are unconscious... And it has gone as far as to be dangerous to the survival of the human race at large (Humans killing each other with no thinking at all just.. killing each other all the time) I really wish you well with your project and I have it in my plans to take your course when I feel that I'm ready to fully accept the change and give the course the time it deserves to simmer in my brain and be given proper thinking and analysis and not just going through the videos like a low-consciousness zombie (remember?). So yeah spent the most incredible moment listening as always. And I want to share something, is that this video actually makes a lot of "relative" sense to me, because I've been striving towards consciousness my whole life ever since I was a kid and always going way too far down the thinking road, at first unconsciously and then (now) consciously , and since I put a name on what ive been doing "striving towards consciousness" when nobody at all in my surroundings reaaally directly pushed me towards it I've been asking myself why? What is the reason why I am striving towards absolute infinity and consciousness? Well, I found the answer in myself: For the sake of it. I'm not getting anything out of it.. in fact it could be pretty harmful to me to be conscious in a non-conscious society, but I guess you just can't unsee Truth. Once you've seen it, you can't ignore it. And even if you tried, you would feel hollow, stupid and miserable all the time, and you would go back seeking Truth even knowing that you will never touch it. It's all about the journey, not the meaning.

Notes after the first 45 minutes: 1. All meaning is constructed by human mind to navigate in the reality, that's why meaning exists. 2. All dualities need to eventually collapse to unity, to god. 3. Beings infinite purpose is to be. You'll always feel hollow inside as long as you're disconnected from being. Question to look for in the rest of the video: What to do when I don't just want to be?

Fantstic video! I prefer meaning nuetral to meaningless. Because we are meaning creating machines and being itself is meaning nuetral. We have the free will choice to assign meaning. The word meaningless is already polarized which is why it's also polarizing.

So I am going through a mid life crisis for four years now, and I couldn’t deal with my realization of there’s no meaning of everything. _ Many of you very young ones appreciate Leo's work. You have lucked out "big time" in this age of the internet. _ As a young teenager until about 35 there was a great deal of time spent reading books, going to the library to find rare documents on various psychological subjects, and watching rare documentaries on film projectors and antique video players. Then one had to assimilate all this information into a coherent and useful knowledge base that could be applied to everyday living. _ Today you are very fortunate to have access to work such as that provided by Leo. _ However, this is just the beginning. Leo would be the first to tell you, and he already has as I recall, not to believe anything he says but use his info as a base and find out for yourself. _ So, no matter how you feel about learning in depth about life, be thankful for those who put useful information at your disposal and set forth to verify how that might apply to your experience of life. _ Life experience can be seen as great or lousy, depending on state of mind. But if you understand what state of mind is, and how it arises and affects behavior, then you are on your way to awakening to reality. Join the club of the few.

I think it's quite ignorant to assume that Elon Musk doesn't understand these concepts :). Just because he assigns meaning to certain things and makes advances in society, doesn't mean he is "lost" and doesn't understand how meaning works. It's not that complicated - I am sure Elon gets it and could probably teach Leo a few things about being and meaning

Thx a lot for this value bomb of a video Leo! It was a really nice and comprehensive description of a topic that i´ve personally grown in in the past couple of years pretty good so far i would say. So i recognized myself in pretty much almost every example you mentioned in the video. Funny enough I got my midlife crisis (or let´s say quarterlife crisis because i´m just 23 now) regarding this issue pretty much right after i watched your first episode about enlightenment when it came out 2 or 3 years ago. I really let it sunk in and contemplated about it. Also meditated, did a retreat, read books, self inquiry etc. For a few weeks i really felt depressed like you said. I was really into Pickup und personal growth in generell back than and my biggest aspiration was to become the best version of my self. This is what life is all about i thought. And subconsciouslly i thought this was absolute like you said. So this idea began to crumble and i was left with nothing and got literally unmotivated to do any "meaningful" shit for a while. But the more i hold on to this insight of meaninglessness, i got, the more a light began to shine again at the end of the tunnel and life got a certain lightness to it. It was like a weird form of self-trust, where i intuitively knew: "I know this hurts right now, but it is good for you. Stick with it." It is a certain sense of freedom and relief that i carry around with me now. I consider myself way more intrinsically motivated now and way more stable in my self because i let go of a big chunk of external illusory stabilizers that unconscious meaning gives you. And exactly like you said it feels or it is that i'm now constructing my own meaning in my life and the meaning serves a really practical purpose eventhough i know there is none. Feels like surfing this paradox. This is also something carlos castaneda talks about. I stumbled on his books because of your suggestion in your life purpose course. Thanks for that great course as well! It feels like many things are clicking more and more for me in the past time and you definitley helped me and still helping me so much laying that foundation and bigger picture! This is just the beginning. It´s hard to share this with people, because this is really subtle and not even surprisingly not obvious from the outside but still a huge shift, that enhanced my life quality so much and made life just easier for me. So i leave this little personal comment, you and likeminded people might interested to read. Best regards, Chris.
