Used to earn $18 an hour but now earn $25 to $40 an hour but the best part is I can listen to videos like this WHILE I earn a living. Plus no annual review where they tell me Im NOT quite worth a $1 an hour raise but maybe .50 an hour. So it took 7 years to go from $15 per hour to $18. Now I get $300 a month raise just by taking on a few more clients. All my clients are referrals because I do the best job I can for them. So much better than 9-5 for a narcissistic boss/company!

Being a wage slave for so long drained me from nearly all my energy and creativity. We've all been, or are still there. Like a zombie you wake up at 5AM, take quick shover, eat some microwaved food that's most likely not healthy at all, leave for your work in which you'll stay 8 hours - 12 hours in your hated work answering phone calls from annoying customers, replying to stupid emails, or god knows what else. Then after the work is done you'll spend an hour being stuck in traffic just because F you that's why and when you finally arrive home you'll quickly change your clothing to something a bit more comfortable and spend the rest of your day either watching TV or playing games because you're simply too tired and unmotivated to do something productive or creative. Sometimes you even might be so tired that you'll actually start falling asleep while watching TV and speaking of TV, is there even anything worth your time in that box? Probably not. But you're still consuming it because that's all you have energy to do. What's worse is that due to being tired you're not even paying attention to the TV. You just mindlessly consume it without even realizing what exactly you're consuming. Just stare into that TV with a completely empty head. Nothing more, nothing less. Either way you continue doing that for another 2 or 3 hours and then you realize it's 9PM. It's bed time. You need to hit the hay now or else you'll be too tired to wake up "rested" and "refreshed" in the morning for your yet another uneventful, boring and awful day at work. This here is the true tragedy of being a wage slave. Most wage slaves want to enjoy their life, they want to experience new things. But they can't because living pay check to pay check simply drains them from all motivation and in most cases they are entirely powerless to do anything about it. They can't just resign from work because that will instantly put them in financial difficulties. They can't just apply to another, better job because they ususally require schools and studies that they couldn't finish or even start in some cases. And worse of all, due to living a wage slave life they didn't had any oppurtunity to learn any skill that they could use to make money. IT's easy to tell someone to just "quit your job and stop being a wage slave bro" but what then? You have no money, no skills, no hope. You might be a bit luckier if you have family that can financially support you but what if YOU are the one who has to financially support them? In this situation quitting work becomes out of question. This whole situation is just so difficult and complicated man.

Leo I watched this video about 4 years ago and it resonated with me so much. At the time I made music and I was working while doing that as well, I made some money from it but I gave up because I wanted to do something that will be more likely to make me some money. I then jumped from job to job while going to school with a lot of work ethic but with no real direction or sense of clear purpose. I want to thank you for making this video because although I didn’t manage to escape wage slavery I have the opportunity now at 28 to go back to it and see what I did wrong to correct it. I’ve always believed it was possible for me and that I had way too much creative force in me to be doing jobs that waste away that potential. Thank you for confirming that and illustrating how difficult of a predicament it really is. If this video is still up in 5 years I will comment again and will tell you and everyone else how I used this material to get out of this. This is my accountability statement. Thank you

I'm now 22 and just graduated, I have my own clinic right now and can't wait to continue growing and improving myself to offer even more value to people. I'm specialized in reducing pain mostly, and I'm so proud of it. I do see myself as a creator and I totally resonate with you saying how hard it is. It's hard to lead the way, to create, to be the one offering the value. But it's simply so fulfilling I get tears talking about it. This pyramid system also reminds me of "Animal Farm" from G. Orwell. The ego-driven pigs (they wanted to be man-like) became leaders of the farm and exploit other animals. The animals were enslaved not by force but simply by blindly following given rules instead of thinking for themselves. There was a strong horse who thought hard work will solve the problems of scarcity and worked himself to death while the scarcity was created artificially by overconsuming pigs in the first place. With all its characters, it is a great allegory to the state of our society. Don't get hypnotised by the rules of society, they are artificial. You are more than that. As Dalai Lama said, learn the rules only so you can break them properly. "Everything in this world was created by people no smarter than you" -- Steve Jobs

And so wage slavery has been something in the back of my mind for a long time but I just didn't know what to call it because it's the normal. And our parents raised us 2B wage slaves and to follow in their steps cuz that's just the way it is. This led me straight into addiction. Now I'm sober. And I'm watching this piece of information for like the 6th time. Just knowing that someone else out there realizes this and has created a video about it means I'm not crazy. I'm glad i didn't went to college because i knew it was bullshit, instead i learned about self-development and spirituality, also learned 2 languages on the last 2 years. Such a good timing i had my first awaken experience few weeks ago and discovered my purpose in life which was here all along. @isak I feel you when it comes to finances, importation taxes and your current feelings. Well, it's been 2 years since I posted that comment a lot has happened since then. We were not fortunate to be born in a great economy country, and things can be really tough. But we cannot lose our goals and visions of the future because of those "limitations". Every day I wake up and I try to learn and improve, even if there is a crisis we gotta go beyond that. I don't blame politicians, I don't blame people around me instead I move forward. My suggestion to you is to find your life purpose, what do you want to do in this life? start a business? work in a simple high paying job? what are you passionate about? Once you discover that stick to it! never give up on it. 2 years ago i decided to be a musician, it's been hard but i learned a lot and every single day, i do what i can to save money and even with inflation and my current currency going down i find ways to buy good quality music equipment, also earn money in different currencies. I'm getting closer and closer to my goals. It's happening! All you gotta do is to believe and go for it. Depression leads us to reflection which can only make us greater, it helps us solve problems and current situations. We are never the victims we have the power to achieve what we want even if circumstances are not favouring our way. “When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are unnatural.” Marcus Aurelius

Now after your video I can see where if I had dedicated my existence to mastering metaphysical transformation and enhancing personal spiritual power and abilities especially to help others then I can only imagine what I would have become by now. We are all destined to die and broke at that. But then maybe even death it's self could/has been overcome. I certainly will dedicate myself to this now in my retirement years. Others have who now have incredible abilities to help mankind. Most people have families to support etc. I never have. Of course you still have to have money to pay for training and to survive. I get it.

Great topic, thanks for bringing this up. Nevertheless I think differently about the ideas presented here (and therefore hope this video will be discussed in the actualized forum). 1. In particular I think that the label "wage slave" can backfire, as many people don't have the possibility to change their jobs and could drive themselves crazy if the wage slave concept will be kept in mind. Some acceptance is required here, not remaining in a negative conception. 2. Not everyone can come up with a creative idea and use that to free him from the rat race. This idea feeds into the "everyone can become rich" story too. 3. Those creative entrepreneurs will still have to participate in the current system with their products and services. 4. Missing alternatives: what about the concept of less working and less consuming? The topic is enormously vast and complex, I get that. But i felt like there was too much of a black and white coloring in this video and that many important point and alternatives were not considered.

You bring up some good points, even I felt he sort of gave a black and white, Option 1 and Option 2 picture. However, I also think as he goes really deep into his point, he has to stick to one perspective. But the key here is it is only a perspective. There isn't only option 1 and option 2 in life. In fact, I plan on taking option 2 for a few years (making a lot of cash through these pools of wealth) and then switching to a more conscious way of living that is Option 1 (life purpose). But its nice to hear Leo's perspective, and then integrating it into my own life plan in an independently thought out way

Everyone CAN become rich, but not everyone WILL become rich. See, this all hinges on possibilities and potential. Can directly refers to possibility, or capability. It has no direct implication on the difficulty of something. There is still room for people higher up in the pyramid. He is effectively giving you advice so that you can be one of them. But also so that if you do rise, you can do so while simultaneously having a positive impact with a passion and purpose over more cruel methods of exploitation.
@vernichtungssoldat61106 жыл бұрын
R-Type: I think to respond to point 2: I think he's addressing the fact that the system is engineered so that everyone not at the top top makes just enough income to keep coming back to work everyday, instead of having the opportunity to do some kind of self-development that collectively raises humankind. I think he's speaking to a rigged power system, which deliberately disenfranchises most people, rather than proposing everyone should or could be wealthy. And to point number 3: I think his point is that, even though everyone must participate in the economy, the economy doesn't have to set up to exploit people who lack power.
@jennygao74296 жыл бұрын
Yes this is a much needed topic to discuss. I still think of myself as a wage slave running my own business as I just started a year ago and there are still a lot to master to truly find satisfaction. But it is evolving to the point it is becoming more and more fulfilling each day and beyond me having to worry about just paying bills. It’s partly thanks to Leo’s Life purpose course, partly my bad experiences working for corporations that triggered me to change. I still remember the days I would dread each day to work before this, I felt like a robot going through the motion having no say in my work, it was dehumanizing. It was pretty clear to me then that working for these corporations will not make me happy. I think one insight that would really help people starting out on their life purpose is perseverance, often the light is just over on the other side of the hill but we couldn’t see it before we climb over, and it is something worth fighting for. :)

We work, because we are corporate wage slaves. From the moment we are born we owe something to the world. A self-proclaimed authority has claimed power and influence over the rest of our lives. We are property of the state, our civilian number and social security numbers are all those numbers are our name to the state, we are faceless, we only exist for them as a human slave unit. We only exist to spend our lives working, and dying for their wars. We are expected so serve a system that has stolen our rights, our freedom, the truth, our sovereign free will, our right to decide what is right for us, in exchange for the illusion of security and freedom. We are conditioned to work in order to accumulate possessions, objects, things, which we end up unconsciously worshipping because we refer to them in order to define who we are, our worth. We are given materialistic comfort to make us believe we are free, but we just get weaker, because we will never consider changing the status quo when being in a comfort zone, we are too comfy and warm to do so. What should be our most fundamental unconditional rights, like having a home and food and water, are really privileges. We don't have the right to live, we are obligated to work, in order to survive. They need for us to work so the small minority that doesn't work, stays in a position of power and dominion over the conforming masses. We need to work, in order for the economical system to work, a system whose very core concept is about materialism and money, at the expense of the well-being of our home planet and her living creatures. We work so we stay in this dog eat dog mentality of competition with each other and survival. What is called "work" is more accurately labor to serve and preserve the monetary system. And so the ones that can see the madness and decide to do things differently, to live for what they believe in, are pointed at by the weak, sheep hate them because they are a reminder to them that they will never have the courage to break out of this matrix. The red pill is only for the strong. Only the strong live for the truth and what is just. In this world of sheep, few are the lions. The strong are building the new world, where everyone will be equal with their neighbor, not because of the things they own but just because they are a person. Another human being like us that deserves the basic right to cultivate his own food in his backyard and feed his children with clean food, untouched by the poisons of corporations. The strong will build a society where money doesn't exist, and people exchange services. If you have apple trees, I can give you some of my oranges from my orange tree in exchange for apples. Education and healthcare for everyone, for all children are and deserve the same. Children are the coming fathers and mothers of humanity. The strong will build a community, a family where everyone is worthy and where one's master is only oneself, and their flag is the same for the entire human race.

I’m 24 and lived a comfortable life because of very wealthy parents, having always done the bare minimum of getting C’s, smoking pot, playing video games ,etc. I finally am getting a job (a fairly good one) as a caregiver for elderly as Im wanting to become an occupational therapist because I love helping people. I haven’t worked in five years and in the process of the job, getting a lot of requirements done like a physical, TB test, social security card ordered, FBI background test, 2 hours of training, I felt something weird.. I sat for five hours in an office in Down Town LA and felt like I was a slave at a 9-5 office job. I hated it and vow from here on other to NEVER work a 9-5 if I hated the job. Period. I knew of this video and re searched it because I finally ‘sensed’ or understood from experience how society was operating. I used to meditate and watched Leo’s videos three years ago but stop after I got further Into college and focused more on becoming more responsible. I got completely sober from all drugs and alcohol ( nearly two years now) and got better grades (from a 2.6 to a 3.3 GPA) and become much more mature and responsible. I felt like I was going crazy and didn’t know who to talk to. Everybody that I knew and saw going about their day seemed to not know what I was seeing, or at least thinking. I thought I was completely tripping balls until it made sensed to me. We really have unconsciously domesticated ourselves, and I just realized this. Maybe others know, but I know a lot don’t and would deny this. Thank you Leo for explaining this so clearly. Thank you for the solution. TLDR: realized everybody is unconsciously working for society in a domesticated fashion and didn’t know who to talk to about this and thought I was going crazy. PS: to anyone struggling, my heart goes out and hope that you find a way. Don’t give up.

Ultimately what we need is a Resource Based Economy, where nothing is owned and money doesn't exist. All money is is just a number on a computer server. It's no more real than the points you score in a video game. A Resource Based Economy, on the other hand, emphasizes tangible assets, as those are what translate into real material wealth. And without the ability to accumulate money, the power dynamics would dissolve, and the elites wouldn't be able to use economics to control us.

I think an important point to note here for people criticizing the video is that most people will not resonate with this video and as Leo says they will end up as "wage slaves". This doesnt mean those people can't be happy or find peace or awaken or whatever. Being a wage slave means sacrificing your goals for other people whose opinions don't really matter in the first place. That is why I don't feel like a slave in my job. I love working with people with disabilities and/or disorders. They have more sense about what is truly valuable and important in life. I broke free in 2018 and never looked back. Now im broke, homeless, but with vehicle. Many in society absolutely cannot stand me. Im not making any friends. That much is for sure. I get my bills paid, and i work constantly. I have no social life. Marriage is now out of the question and so is dating pretty much. Women dont generally have any interest in guys like me. Understandable, I suppose. I dont hold it against them. I am constantly condescended to and people try very hard to make me feel that im a worthless piece of shit. This is an every day occurrence. But im happier than I ever have been before in my adult life. Im my own person. And Ive learned more than i could have ever hoped to about everything you can imagine. Not from reading or watching, but from doing. And from experiencing it.i could never gain the wisdom I now have from sitting there, dying slowly every day in an office doing fuck all for a middle manager who is the REAL piece of shit in the story. And I wouldnt go back to that cubicle for any amount of money or security. Never. Never. Never. I would rather die quickly than have to endure that.
@deemedlight36473 жыл бұрын
It sucks that this is what happens when you become free but unfortunately that's the game. But all those people in the office they're just dying a slow death. That's why the people treat you like that because they don't understand and they're not free fear controls them the fear that being in your position means failure and misery, but not really it's actually liberating. Don't give up what you believe in and don't bend the knee to this society because all the society does is make you sick in the head in the soul and the body making you work all your life chasing a dream and money and they tell you that money is your god well if that's then I'd rather not be in this world to begin with a world this evil and sick.

I think this situation is actually harder, because there is more incentive to stay where I am; I make very good pay. Picture yourself free from addictions, distractions, and manipulations of all sorts, whether it is created by yourself or it be the influence of the society. Filter and reflect all information carefully. Study how system works, you'll know why most systems are corrupted. Rewire the brain in such a way that you are aware of what you are doing, that you don't manipulate others. Make other people realize the value of what matters the most in life, the beauty of life by being an self example. Work your way up and contribute more by discovering your own talents with your type of personality. Be creative and make new ways in doing things. Most importantly, don't be lazy! You are programmed in such a way that making changes is like trying to break free from your default homeostasis. Acting lazy could be caused by bad concentration through bad eating habits, poor sleep and other distractions. Chop chop! You have so much work to do to get the kind of life you want in 10-15 years! Thanks Leo for his insight that only we can actualize for ourselves! :D

I've often thought the best, or at least the deepest, way to understand why the world is in the mess it's in is through seeing it as being dominated by ego consciousness, just as Leo is putting it. It's basically saying that those in power are much like children, all ego and little enlightened thought, in their psychological development, regardless of IQ, etc.

I think we have 2 different desires. A desire to accumulate (ego) which is coming from a place of lack. Or a desire to serve which is coming from a place of joy, love and unity. As soon as humanity can tap into that kind of consciousness the world will look like a whole different place. There would not be any ratrace anymore because joy makes you feel present and the ego not. But hey I am just a Pisces with a idealistic vision...

I don’t want to be rich I just want to be free on a passive income … chasing that millionaire lifestyle by running multiple companies is slavery too
