so many of these recommendations talk about physicians as though you can make an appointment and have a cosey chat and get a prescription all on the same day. For example, best to get a prescription within 24 hours. This is Utopian. . At least easy quick appointments are not my experience. Most doctors are hard to reach, you wait a long time for an appointment and when you have an appointment they want to keep everything as brief as possible. At least, thats my experience.

This video explains exactly what I have. I think mine was brought on by my alcohol consuming since Christmas. We obtained a bunch of alcohol over the holiday and had a lot left over, so I figured I’d drink up. I didn’t really feel like I was overdoing it because I wasn’t drinking to get drunk, but apparently it was enough to bring on Gout. I don’t get it, I really don’t ever drink, except for this time ,and actual alcoholics don’t seem to get Gout attacks. I’m sure if they did, they’d stop drinking in an instant! This is THE WORST PAIN EVER! So now I’ve been constantly researching Gout, and there are so many conflicting opinions on the actual treatment and what really works. Each person is different, some stuff works for some and not for others. SO FRUSTRATING!!

It’s crazy, my diet does not change per se, my drinking habits as well but boom out of nowhere like once every year or two imhoblled and miserable for 7-10 days. Lotta people have it a lot worse so I can deal with it but it’s so odd. Good luck all

I always take Naproxen within 24 hours of an attack if i can, and it takes the pain right down, recently had an attack, but due to Corona-virus i had had to wait 4 agonizing days for my Pills to arrive, after taking one pill, the pain was gone within a few hours, after 1 week the swelling has gone down and it is almost cleared completely.

I don't know why I never tried this, but I just put IcyHot on the area hurting and it is giving me relief. I am surprised they don't talk more about topical creams as a quick temporary way to relieve the pain.

I note you mention Colchicine this was the first medicine my doctor prescribed, but I didn't note any results, so I went back because I was still having my gout attack. I had a different doctor this time because my doctor was on vacation. My new doctor prescribed Cefdinir for my acute gout. This medicine seemed to work much better in reducing the inflammation. However I did find that there was a side effect in that it caused stomach problems more accurately gut problems, pain. I believe this is because this drug is used to treat bacterial infections. Unfortunately I don't believe this drug distinguishes between the good bacteria and bad in your gut and so you wind up having gut pains especially after a meal. My remedy which seems to be working for this right now is to take a good Probiotic which replaces the good bacteria killed off in your gut. You need these bacteria's for good digestion.

I believe that alcohol does not contain purines. However when you drink alcohol your metabolic system works hard trying to eliminate such alcohol and slows even more the metabolism of purines. Slow metabolism of purines is the reason for people that develops high uric acid levels. I am no doctor but a perennial patient of high uric acid
