#Replay I'll be doing so much travel into 2026 that it totally makes sense for me to get a Golden Girls Gang in Costa Rica. I want a nice house, but I won't use it all for a while. Right now, my plan is to tap into the women I've met there so far and see if they know a Blanche or Dorothy. (Because I'm Rose. 😆 🌹)

I would ONLY want to do this as long as the other women are active and have their own lives. I have lived around expats in a few cities over the years and a lot of them are looking for constant companionship and unfortunately, some of them didn't have the funds and needed financial help. It can be a bit stressful if everyone in the space isn't pulling their weight or too needy for attention or friendship. I find myself getting exhausted with the needs of the communities after a while.

Your comment is very much on point (especially regarding the finances). I think, a number of older adults do the co-living arrangement, because they need to cut costs. There's nothing wrong with that, but they should definitely vet their prospective room-mates well. Another thing that people have to keep in mind is, not everyone will have the same commitment to paying bills on-time, or following through with the lease agreement. In those instances, the other roommates have to be prepared to pick up the financial slack.
@AdaliaAborisade9 ай бұрын
That's the beauty of it, you and your roomies get to decide how and where you live. Y'all get to design the life you want.

I enjoyed this conversation and really like the idea of a Golden Girls arrangement - especially abroad. But as an introvert who loves quiet/solo time and has lived on my own for 20+ years, it would take divine alignment to find other women with complementary personalities. I’m most definitely a Dorothy. lol

This is a great conversation . When I first landed in CDMX, I stayed with two other ladies for a little over three months and I was SO dead set against the idea at first, but it truly turned into one of the biggest blessings. I now live alone but I wouldn’t have traded that experience and there is truly value in removing the headlines thrust upon us about co-living situations when you are of a certain age, especially in the US as you mentioned Adalia. This is definitely something that needs to be discussed more!

Watching the replay from Houston, Texas. I have had roommates intermittently since I became an empty-nester 16 years ago. I think co-living in another country would be very helpful and beneficial mentally and emotionally and could avoid loneliness.

I’ve always thought Golden Girls living is such a great idea for women. I would say I’m between a Dorothy and a Rose haha. Love this conversation! Multigenerational living is also very common and the norm in many (maybe most) other parts of the world.

Love love love this conversation. Wow. I’m currently in the U.S. & am in the process of redesigning my life. I’m 48 with an adult daughter & a 17 year old who’s about to graduate high school. I’ve struggled all of my adult life with getting & keeping housing, especially with being a single mom with little to no financial literacy. While I’ve never been evicted, I moved around a lot because I simply couldn’t afford many of the places where I lived. As a kid, I lived in a house with 13+ people. All my cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. I definitely can see the benefit to that now.

Excellent! 🥰 MX Life lesson TIP: 1.) Lay the ground rules out before signing the lease. 2) Make sure your roommate doesn't have mental health issues that might complicate things. 3.) Make sure roommate doesn't do drugs/ marijuana (guilty by association)

This was a very interesting talk. This was something that I had considered with a few friends of mine, just in mulling it over. Then I came to realize that there were certain things about the friends that I spend time with and love that I couldn’t quite see us cohabitating together. But I really love this idea of community and what that might look like for you know women in their 40s women in their 50s 60s 70s and living abroad. Thank you. This was a really thought-provoking conversation. Loved it.❤

Thank you for sharing the information with me. I have been watching your and Stephanie's videos on black women living abroad and in different parts of New Mexico, but I'm still unsure about the relocation process. I am interested in attending a group meeting are would love to receive a message from you when you're planning for women to travel there for a meeting. I don't use social media much, so a message would be the best way to reach me. I'm in my early 60s and excited to hear more and would love to meet up with you one day to discuss the details.
