Why would you mock up the plywood and not the foam core? If you used 1/4" ply wouldn't the hot glue hold it just fine? Also, do you use the "normal" hot glue, or some exotic type?

When inserting a fresh glue stick, if you'll touch the front of the stick to the nozzle of the glue gun melting it slightly when you insert the stick it will glue itself to the back of the old stick giving you a smooth continuous feed.

Thats exactly how I feel lol everyday is filled with stress and anxiety and I'm only 25 but take care of a big family, everyone in my family has mental health issues and addiction ect nobody works its all crazy but i wake up early just to watch a Adam savage video before my day starts or before bed, it gets my mind off things like 3 days ago having to go to hospitals and during covid as a germaphobe because my niece tried to leave this planet and then last week was there for my uncle he drank too much and almost died then my grandmother had to go over the stress, I just do my best to help everyone... but I try to give myself some peace with these videos, Adam is putting more time on my life for sure helping get some peace lol plus I don't have a dad so Adam has been a great role model for me.. his Twitter makes my day, his political views are same as mine and he's such a great person! Hope he knows he does so much for people, especially us young men who don't have a male figure around to teach us stuff.

I have been making pegboard doors for my storage racks. My storage racks have a diameter of three-quarter inch pipe and I’m using three-quarter inch conduit clamps to hold the 2 x 4 to them then another 2 x 4 leveled to mount hinges too. Buy the 12 pack bulk and putting 4 of them with 3” screws to a 2 x 4 frame with support running horizontally then a steel cable from the lower outer corner to the upper inner corner to prevent sagging. I have my weedeater, backpack blower, gardening tools little bolt bin drawers on the outside and the inside I have small stuff on hooks like Epoxy, various types of silence and stuff for working on cars. The doors been helpful keep my 2 year old out of the brake clean, oil recycling containers. He is my little helper but when your under a car he moves fast to the stuff that can hurt him. I have 3 of them we tools on them and supplies each is 7 foot tall and 4 foot wide. One of the best home builds to my ocd. The 56” double stacked tool boxes with locker and my 3 shelves section with pegboard doors and 3 4 draw file cabinet my garage is ready for work. Awesome tip about the hot glue and awesome build!

Adam, you're directly responsible for about 1/3 of my Amazon purchases. I'm pretty sure I could regulate my Amazon spend by adjusting the frequency with which I watch your videos. Alternatively, Amazon should set up a kickback programme for you specifically. This time around I ended up with 40 sheets of A0 5mm foam core, as now I obviously have to do this to my drawers as well. Most times it is more like, "hmmm, that tool looks useful. Better get one of those." Love the videos, brother. Keep spreading the good word, the corrected spelling of the biblical phrase is now "the makers shall inherit the earth".

Love this idea! Been trying to come up with ideas to keep my box at work organised, cause I'm messy by nature... One of the reasons I love this channel! Ideas for keeping stuff arranged, and ideas for how to fix stuff I'd have never thought of in the past! One thing I would say, is turn the insert round put the small things to the front, like your saw blades and bits and bobs in 'air tools 1'. Makes it easier to get into with the slight overhang at the back edge of the drawers have from the drawer above... and means you're not leaning over the drawer looking for tiny bits, also means you don't have to open the whole drawer to grab a blade or bit...

I just laid my tools on top of a piece of plywood of the same size as the drawer's bottom, cut the tool's shape out, made spacers with some wood and glue, so that it would float the missing 6th plane, and then covered the tools i wanted in paper tape and set them inside the holes i've made such that each just floated perfectly using thin wire and more tape. Then i greased my drawer with a lot of petroleum jelly and poured foam inside. Once i was satisfied, i covered the top with a tape covered board and set weights on top. A two hours job, without foam setting times (left it 24h) and then half an hour to clean the mess and tape. Finished the tool shaped cavities with a spay g*n loaded with liquid filler, which then got spray painted with a clear gray. Each tool had a small wad of tape on its side, and the cover with holes, small finger sized holes over those places where i put the tape wads.

This video has inspired me to get off my backside and start designing 3D printed organizers for all my toolbox drawers. I'd like to say "Thank you" for that, but it feels dishonest to thank you for something I'll be cursing about all through the design process. The shop will be better for it, though. So the SHOP thanks you.

I've spent my lifetime getting edges ever sharper. I am not getting any sharper myself though. So at some point the sharpness of my tools will exceed my mental acumen. If it hasn't already.

@@DeadFastProductions it is easier to overestimate oneself. One thing I have learned in life is everything is a lot harder than I initially estimate it will be. The project I just got done with took me four times longer than I thought it would. Usually I am only off by a factor of two.

I definitely need to do this. I'm no slouch with foam core and hot glue, so I should be able to do my own drawer inserts. I wouldn't have thought of trying this method though, so thanks for going through it and explaining your thought processes.
