Eh.. Its a subjective thing. Difficult gameplay should be the choice of the player & not a forced playstyle for trophies. I really loved that about this God Of War. Some people get off on playing games on punishing difficulty & bashing their heads against a wall till it breaks & thats fine but the players who just want to experience this beautiful game without getting wrecked & still complete it to get the platinum was a great design choice by Sony & Santa Monica! 👍

I like 100% games even if it isn’t required if I like the game enough. I chose to get all the relics in Far Cry 3 even though not all were required as the tattoo would be left incomplete otherwise and I chose to complete it after killing Hoyt as you won’t be able to look at the tattoo while wearing the mercenary disguise.

The best bonus episode of platinum journey. I shouldn't ever underestimate the quality of a bonus episode. Quick tip for stick drift: if the stick drifts, blow into it. It should prevent the drift for a while...

12:15 When I first jump into GOW, thinking that I am a veteran, I chose hard. Terrible mistake. Play for hours but just couldn't get thru this part. I quit playing GOW for a good 6 months. Finally throw away my pride and set the difficulty to normal and finished the game.

Finally getting around to watching this. Man, I forgot how incredible the sound design is in this game. Every step and every punch and ever swing of the axe sounds (and feels) so weighty. I’m also reminded as to how silly some of the Alfheim level design is. I know they’re a mythical people, but I can’t wrap my head around how ridiculous some of the architecture and pathways are, but maybe I’m looking too much into it; and maybe I’m the silly one… Regardless, props to you for doing this insane challenge and I loved the editing in this vid. God tier!

Excellent video man, seriously well done. I'm with you on the combat as well, when I first played the game I changed the controls to Classic so Square and Triangle were the regular attacks again. It made the Blades feel a lot like their regular selves especially when using my favourite Runic attacks from God Of War III which was my first GOW, can't wait for that eventual Platinum Journey. Also, massive respect again for beating this difficulty on regular New Game, I only did it myself for that awesome Spartan shield on New Game Plus.

@@AdamMcDermott Ahh interesting. That makes sense. I just finished my Give Me God of War playthrough myself. It starts off tough but definitely gets easier as you gear up. A few annoying parts throughout the story but it’s mainly those damn Valkyries. Kara constantly summoning Draugr was awful, and Sigrun was an absolute nightmare. I was fighting her for 5 hours straight, lord knows how many attempts, and not a single trophy earned lol still worth it. What a game. I’m ready for Ragnarök now.

I myself, did 3 total playthroughs. 1st one to unlock newgame + & then the 2nd plathrough to get the armour of zeus. Then did the 3rd one of Give Me God Of War +. Wasn't too hard at that point but still it was a massive time commitment. You did the highest difficulty from scratch though, so kudos for that! Thanks for making this video, Adam! Fantastic work Adam, I know your pain, I started the game on this difficulty first play through, and my mates couldn’t understand why it was taking so long for me to complete, and I explained how hard the Valkyries were, the leveling of armor, they didn’t understand, and wouldn’t give the difficulty a go. The euphoria when you beat her though, that last bar of health felt like an eternity and like it wasn’t moving. I literally cheered and went mental when I beat her. Great video Adam! I also hated the Alfheim section with a buring passion! Such annoying enemies. By the end of it I stacked the resistance enchantments for Dark Elves to get through it. After that every time i saw an elf enemy I immediately opened my inventory and equipped them just so I can kill them as quickly as possible.

I've been considering replaying this before Ragnarok comes out (debating between Ng+ and GMGOW) and for the first bit of the video, I thought I had made up my mind that I would be starting a new playthrough soon... Then you said "Niflheim" and I instantly remembered why I hadn't replayed it yet. I actually loved the combat my first time through, but Niflheim completely killed the combat for me

Wow, what a treat that was. I laughed at you saying you feel sick, I've definitely felt that way myself with some of those Bloodborne chalice bosses. Amazing achievement, Adam, but I'm so glad I wasn't in your shoes; she was hard enough on Normal (and I definitely abused Runic lol) Something seems tuned horribly wrong at the start though, right?! You've got one or two moves you can do at that point, the combat is at its most basic and boring, and the lowliest enemies in the game are taking literally minutes to defeat?? I'm sorry, I thought I was Kratos, not a newly hatched chick! Talk about a momentum sapper

I Enjoyed this journey. I agree, the dark elves in Alfheim suck. This area looks interesting but not satisfying. I was soo glad when I left the area. Least favorite part. And the valkyrie queen. Oh boy. I only beat her on easy and that felt like this video. I was so done after that. Big credits to you, Adam. Very Impressive. My current videogame challenge is a No-Death-Run in Dark Souls.
