Very nice. One tip, the 18:1 and 24:1 ratios tend to allow surface scuffs. The 12:1 seems to be the most durable ratio overall. Again, very nice work.

@@adampaganelli4891 Doesn't this make the colors more glossy?
@cerakotewarrior27515 жыл бұрын
This is one of the better vids I've seen on proper setup, ratio mixtures ie:satin, matte, gloss, with 12:1 being glossiest. You can also gain more points on the gloss index by coating then going straight into the oven versus ambient cure. I would also suggest hanging your parts vertical then from top to bottom angled at a 35degree downward then upward motion, spray in an octagonal rotation versus circular coating twice. On your second rotation if you originally started at the top, then your second run start from the bottom. The reason why is your looking to hit all areas within a 1-2mil thickness, Cerakote doesn't stick to anything which is why you need to take things down to substrate, it wont stick to itself once past the 1-2 mil recommendation which is where you will start getting chipping and cracking. Overall pretty good and accurate informational vid ;)

One of the more detailed video on working the process in cerakoting. Myself and another combat vet will be starting up a Cerakoting and Kydex shop very soon and my love for riding dirt bikes in my past which will never happen in my lifetime as 80% of cervical and lower back are history but again watching your work on the parts and you working the process was great.

Thanks for making this video. Best explanation of mixing cerakote ratio I've seen. Does this example always work out? Take the amount of cerakote you pour out divided by the ratio you desire to give you the catalyst amount?

You can take it a step further and remove all casting lines and smooth out the rough casted texture. If you are weight conscious there is quite a bit of material that can be removed from the caliper by machining a slot in the back portion. The caliper to axle bracket can be relieved of material as well in the thin middle section.

Definitely prefer the look of the Cerakote over powder coating. I like the finish it provides while still maintaining the texture of the part that it is painted on. Also, is it possible to add like another coat of Cerakote for more robust finish?

Between watching you and Cameron over the last year I've finally got myself into a hefty heap of a build. Cerakote is my next step, however I think the only place I've possibly gone wrong is purchasing the larger, Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic spray gun. Just looking for an opinion on that before moving forward. Also would you recommend buying the small 4oz sizes or the pints? I don't think I'm going to do my engine cases, however I definitely have a bunch of the typical parts I wanna do such as the brakes, trans case, triple clamps, etc. I just had a hard time figuring that out watching the video. Thanks for any help and all of the great work man you're awesome, stoked to see where you go with Jeff's engine
@adampaganelli48915 жыл бұрын
It’s not really the capacity of the gun that’s important it’s more the size of the spray tip. You want a .8 size tip

It isn't a microwave oven. It is a counter top oven. Pretty standard conventional oven. Perfect size for small parts. Likely too small for cases though. I prefer a table top pizza oven myself. It is larger and I can get larger parts in it. Both work well though.
