Just because carnivore is simple doesn't mean it's an easy transition for everybody, and there's no shame in getting extra support right out of the gate to dramatically increase your odds of long term success. The thing i find most tragic is that most ppl continue to perceive keto / carnivore to be "extreme". In reality, the Standard American Diet is the truly extreme diet - based on faulty & poor quality evidence that is responsible directly for so many chronic diseases. This is the tragedy.

This is my story. I was a working fitness model and was a former bodybuilding competitor. I went to the best sports dietitian in the southern hemisphere. I ate oatmeal, egg whites, green beans, broccoli, sweet potatoes and tons of chicken breasts. I had a reaction to that. I am never had bad skin and started getting excema next to my nose per the dermatologist. Gave me an ointment and it went away but it looked like I had Rosacea. Then I got brain fog, migraines and always had the worst allergies on the planet even as a kid. I had allergy shots for as long as I can remember. My lifelong general practitioner diagnosed me as a type one diabetic and dramatically altered my life. Trying to get insulin right and using glyberide it made me gain crazy weight. I have always been around 118 pounds. I gained 50 pounds in less than 3 months. I was still working out and eating healthy. I got up to 190 when he told me he made a mistake I was never diabetic at all. To stop taking insulin immediately and typed a letter saying he made a grave error and takes responsibility fully. I lost respect for the medical establishment at that time. I could not sue him since he did not damage my liver, heart or pancreas. I was pissed off. I started eating nothing but organic foods. I wanted nothing processed or chemicals at all. Still eating my fitness diet still got very ill. My allergies got worse, worse migraines, mitral valve prolapse, endometriosis stage 4 and they wanted to remove my uterus, sores on my face, brain fog. I learned that I am celiac, allergic to all grains, allergic to nuts and seeds, allergic to seed oils, and allergic to most vegetables and some fruits. I started eating nothing but beef, butter, bacon and eggs over 14 years ago and reversed all my health conditions. I can have raw dairy when I can find it. My sores were celiac sores. I am now 107 pounds and I have never been healthier. I still lift heavy weights and build muscle and I will never change my diet.

And with in a few months I was moving around with no pain at all.I went back to the Dr and somemore x rays and tested me walking,, he decided that he would cancel the replacement all together.. Hello Dr. Westman. I have been developing quite painful knee pain the past year or so. I work in construction, am 67 years old (so active), and not over weight. The knee pain has become almost debilitating. Kneeling down and getting back up a chore, going down stairs agony. I thought maybe losing a bit of weight would help my knees, so I tried carnivore as a weight loss tool. I still cannot believe how quickly the effects of carb reduction were felt. I lost several pounds immediately (I assume water). The most astonishing result was the virtual elimination of my knee pain! Better yet, my wrists and thumbs, which I had just accepted were sore due to years of use, are now pain free. I am convinced this isn't just some coincidence. The more I read up on the subject the more I believe removing carbs from my diet (as many as possible anyway) has been a game changer. I would say at the moment I am more Ketovore than Carnivore simply to ease things on the home front. Thank you for your insights and knowledge.

Migraines that I had in college had returned decades later, and now haven’t had one since summer. Always had great skin, and the few sun spots on legs are gone. Allergies have subsided, and eyesight due to age has gotten better. It’s not ‘second sight’ that some people experience,, but truly better. I’ve also done 3 and 5 day water fasts which only sped up healing issues. The very first sign of significant change? My pierced ears I’ve had since 7yrs old…. CLOSED!! What?? No way would I go back to eating plants and dealing with all that bad health crap again, but certainly understand how crazy carnivores must look. Keto is great, carnivore is beyond that. It's not just the carbs, it's the plants. Granted all the science isn't there for folate or even vitamin c deficiency, but I don't care. The gut benefits, the lack of sunburn, the not getting sore, everything just improves dumping all the plants. I'll just pop a supplement if I'm super worried.

Glad I found out, I thought I was just "super regular" with some IBS until I dumped the fiber and realized I shouldn't be going this often and still have IBS. I generally go twice a week now, so nice, can do dairy and some coffee again. Most people will have problems the first few weeks adjusting to carnivore, again usually the other way.

I actually gained weight on carnivore, lol. My reason was for chronic pain, brain fog and a long list of other issues brought on by Lyme disease diagnosed about three years too late. Took about 6 months on carnivore, but the depression was better after about 2 weeks, gone after a month, the joint and whole body pain eased up after two, even better after three, and after about 6 months, all of my problems, including the rampant brain fog, were essentially gone. As far as weight tho, I gained lol. I lost body fat, but the muscle started packing on fairly quickly. Went from 145 pounds and roughly about 16 percent body fat to thin as a rail, 9 percent body fat and 190 pounds in about a year and a half. I lift 5 days a week now, spend less on food, believe it or not, and at the age of 27, after dealing with chronic pain for 10 years of my life, I finally feel like a 20 year old. It’s the first time I’ve ever been able to say that and mean it, and the only thing that got me here was willpower and the infamous Carnivore diet. Love you all, and love you Dr Westman. Ya’ll helped save my life, cause I was almost ready to give it up before I found this community.

I came from many years whole food keto diet to carnivore 6 months ago. I have over 25 non-scale victories since that change! I am still struggling with fatigue and no weight loss, so now im looking into CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome).

Take vitamins + minerals. You also need electrolytes: sodium and magnesium are vital
@somechickontheinternet8165 күн бұрын
@zuzannabaranski was on 18 different supplements while on keto. I stopped them all with carnivore except iodine and salt.. if I have CIRS, it cannot be resolved with vitamins and electrolytes - there is a very specific protocol.

Did dirty Keto for like 3 months, then a more strict Keto (max 30 gram carbs) for 3 months and now I'm gravitating to a more carnivorish version. 3rd week done now, first 2 weeks didn't feel all that great, I'm gonna trust the process though.

I've eliminated everything except fatty meat and salmon, but I'm struggling to give up green tea since I consider it a good detox. I also include Manuka honey, raw garlic, and spices with my meat. Do I need to cut these out as well? I found that plants, dairy, nuts, and seeds irritated me and worsened my autoimmune condition. However, since switching to a carnivore diet and fasting with one meal a day, I’ve been experiencing significant improvements every day.

My arthritis and other issues have not changed. Carnivore comments are sometimes off the wall. Like, someone stating within days magical changes because of Carnivore. I am mostly Carnivore eating and yet do not see the results many are raving about. I believe Carnivore is a good for so many reasons. But, I have yet to see all these miracles.
@Zaaxun7 күн бұрын
You say mostly carnivore, your either carnivore or your not. I can tell you exactly why, your eating over 50 gms sugar/carbs a day therefore you are not in ketosis and won't expirence any change. If you were in ketosis you absolutely would feel significant difference. Have you cut out 100% all sugar? Carbs? Oils, grains? I don't think so.

You might benefit from blood type diet. Look up "eat right 4 your type" and Paul D'Adamo. If carnivore doesn't work, either you're doing it wrong (it can be very tricky if you have autoimmunity), or you might have to eat for your gene type. Carnivore didn't cure everything for me either, probably because I have MTHFR gene and my gut is a wreck from trying to be vegan. The plants I ate were high in oxalate and it can take years to dissolve oxalate crystals... They are a cause of arthritic / joint pain.
@subwayfacemelt43257 күн бұрын
I forgot to mention that Histamine Intolerance makes carnivore tricky for me because red meat is usually sold "aged" and carries a high level of histamine.

I'd check your Vit D levels - I'm an AS sufferer - i have knee pains and other joint pain if i stop taking the Vit D supplements for a couple months. Even on animal based Carnivore ie I still use Double cream in coffee. Try to find a clean brand without fillers ( 3 months minimum) - I take 10,000 iu per day with K2 combo

Try going really strict carnivore only and eliminate dairy and see if anything happens. You may be eating some foods you are sensitive to, and that may be preventing your results. I decided to try carnivore for health reasons and was very strict for 30 days before I began to add some foods slowly and carefully. I didn't use any seasonings except salt and had no dairy. Almost all of my pain was gone in 8 days. I couldn't believe it. But I think for big results you have to start off really strict. Who knows what underlying food sensitivites we may have. If it's not a full blown food allergy, it may be contributing to our health issues, but we may not realize it.

I contracted Reactive Arthritis after severe food poisoning off food carts while on vacation in China. I went to a rheumatology practice and for 3 years had to use canes and crutches, steroids, and drugs like embrel and suffered from a pain level of 10, headaches 24/7, trouble with balance, and slept 16+ hrs a day. Finally a few years later I stumbled on Keto diet after 6 months of a green smoothie diet that made it worse. Within 3 weeks I didn’t need a cane anymore. And two months later was able to walk a mile where before couldn’t walk to get the mail. A few years later I discovered Carnivore and have been on it for 18 month. No more swelling in my feet, arthritis gone, able to eat nuts again, and am now backpacking and scuba diving again in South East Asia. At 70 I feel reborn and was able to lose 45 pounds.

I'm still waiting for the non-scale victories, or heck... the scale victories after 6 months of ketovore. I'm just not one getting all the miracles. I lost 13 lbs at first but now am doing good not to gain anything and have stopped losing. I'm not cheating. Sticking pretty strict and doing IF also. I suspect it's the blood pressure med I'm on. Hoping I can change that soon.

95% Carnivore x 6 mos, husband about the same for 9 mos: Scale victories: down 50 and 70 lbs respectively. NSV (non scale): Resolved plantar fasciitis, GERD, sleep apnea, allergies/postnasal drip, hypertension, and bloating. Very happy with the results thus far. I would only consider a VLCHF diet from now on unless my health declined and it could be proven that it is because I eat the bare minimum of carbs and no processed foods. I seriously doubt that will happen.

In February of 2024 I had a bilateral subdural hematoma, two separate craniotomy’s and a small stroke. I also had an episode of AFIB. All while I was doing meat centered KETO. Was it the keto? No. I had been on warfarin. Too much vitamin K in my diet lowered my INR and the dose was increased to the maximum. I probably mistakenly took an extra dose, thinking I had forgotten it. I was 68 at the time and do forget things. This caused the brain bleeds. I have continued doing keto but eat very little vegetables or greens these days. I can walk 3 miles, do moderate floor exercises and lift moderate weights. At age 69 now, I have a better build than quite a few guys in their twenties and feel terrific! I do supplement some with D3, magnesium and zinc with Cu. I also had a Watchman Procedure done due to episodes of AFIB to bock clots that may form in my heart from getting to my brain. Oh, and I’m not all that forgetful these days!

You don't why is that there isn't a stall on weight by removing carbs ? That quite puzzles me . There are people that have autoimmune conditions that get a super high inflammatory response from carbs so by removing that macronutrient you'll inevitably remove your bloating issues. Glucose glycation happens only when you're ingesting exogenous carbohydrates ! Fatty liver shouldn't happen if you're eating a proper human diet .

12/29/24 My wife and I have been carnivore for 13 months to date give or take a few days. My wife was type2 diabetic, high blood pressure and obese. Personally I was over weight, not hugely but to the point of being uncomfortable when doing up my laces and problematic blood pressure. To date my wife has reduced her weight from 109kg to 84kg a total of 25kg, reversed type 2 diabetes and obesity gone. For myself I have come down 13kg and blood pressure resolved. Nothing scientific about how we went to it, just protein and fat and stalls in weight loss were not phased and there were some. With all the good results my wife has had a psychosis and doctors diagnosed her with dementia. Their opinion as a result of brain shrinking and previous strokes. Can this be reversed with time.

A high fat carnivore diet seems to be humans default diet for 200,000 years before we starting eating carbs about 12,000 years ago. Also plants prevent mineral and vitamin absorption and contain 100s if not 1000s of identified known carcinogens. nuts are probably okay but even then same compounds in plants. I think people should do natural diet of plants, fruit and nuts on top of animal based then weeen slowly to high fat carnivore. It took me 9months to feel normal and went hypoglycemic multiple times the first 5months. apparently it takes over a year to get the mitochondria to adapt since we've been on carbs our whole lives.

I am remaing carnivore-ish, have fallen off the wagon, and even burned that wagon. I struggle with low anterior resection syndrome after surgery for rectal cancer. Although there is no cure for my syndrome, I have figured out how to follow my sugeons' siggestion (with no direction at all, very frustrating). Now i can leave my house safely after 2.5 years, so i got a seasonal job at a very bust department store. Every joint and muscle is killing me. I am shocked, considering my diet. I did realize i wasn't drinking enough water, nor using my electrolyte mix enough. But this pain is horrible. Perhaps the job is too much after being sedentary for too long. Im not giving up but I am actually considering going to my doctor. He doesn't object to my diet, but he doesn't know much about it at all. 😢

Dr. Westland i am listening to DR. Berry and different carnivore doctors and just wondering, has anyone had to go on a very strong antibiotic for a kidney infection( I have know spleen to fight off infections)...and my whole body became inflamed joints muscles, etc. I even tore my shoulder muscles le on top of that? Has anyone had that happened? I thought carnivore could fix and prevent such things. It has been 3 months and pain relievers and then probiotics and finally a salve with anti-inflammatory properties to finally start healing again. I have stuck with carnivore, it has been awful, though. I still hope carnivore can pull me back from this. Sadly, doctor gave me 6 days of steroids to stop pain for awhile, then, never should have done steroids I know but it was so painful. Still doing carnivore and maybe I am healing again. Just wondering could antibiotics destroy gut which caused the pain?

I absolutely cannot do a meat-based carnivore diet. Animal fats have always caused nausea and I feel terrible. I can eat dairy and eggs with no problem. I also have ethical issues with meat. I don't believe for a second that a meat-based diet was what humans ate primarily. In the meantime, I'm going to try a low-carb approach for 2025, probably 100 or so. Have a lot of research to do to understand more. I also absolutely love certain vegetables and fruits.
