40+ years ago I was diagnosed by two doctors with severe UC. Gastroenterologist made no mention of diet and recommend removal of colon. I rejected this! No internet then so it was hard for me to research alternatives. After years of trying different things (teas, probiotics, more & less fiber, etc. etc.) I got better when I went on Keto type diet but in those days I don't think Keto was even a word? Gravitated to carnivore before it was even a thing. My UC went away! And today I still have my colon!

Bad move. Its Russian roulette with your health. It's like smoking just because we all know some old timers who made it to 90 smoking 30 a day. Doesn't make it smart. How many DIDNT make it to even 70. Meat is the same. Some who are genetically strong. Will make old age eating alot of meat. But there's a reason westerners have the worst health in the world. And meat and dairy are top of the list along with processed food. Meat especially red meat doesn't digest properly. Some of it remains in the colon. And over time can purify and start to poison the system and cause cancers. And especially those who don't eat any or enough fibre. Which acts like a brush for clearing out the intestines and colon of dangerous matter. Your risk of the BIG C goes even higher.

Most doctors are not truly concerned about a patients longterm health. They are only concerned about their kickbacks from big pharma. It's very easy to prescribe meds. It gives the patient immediate relief. Unfortunately most patients don't mind some side effects as long as the main issue has subsided and they don't have to change their diet.

Very similar experience with doctors and UC. My Doctor was a Vegan with heritage from India, and told me to eat more plants and that red meat would kill me. While eating 85% plants I felt like I was going to die of colon cancer withing 6 months. Now, the closer I get to 100% meat the closer I get to 100% health. The first one nearly killed me when the ER physician diagnosed me as constipated and prescribed me a purgative. Never had bloody stool so it took a ct scan to diagnose me and its been a difficult uphill battle. Was on a high fiber mostly vegetariam diet for 2 years prior to the first diagnosed attack. They can take their fiber recommendations and shove it. It obviously didnt help me. Have a lot less issues on carnivore even thouh I have yet to get through a full 4 weeks without flaring up.

My husband talked me into trying keto and within a short time my gut pain went away… until I would choose a large healthy salad! Then I would start hurting so bad again… I am now trying carnivore and am on day 3!

I also had my entire colon removed (6 years ago) - at Cleveland clinic. My surgeon was able to perform an ileorectal anastomosis, so thankfully I don't have an ileostomy bag. I have multiple autoimmune issues, including ulcerative colitis. Not ONE doctor told me to changing my diet would save my colon AND relieve many other autoimmune symptoms. I've been carnivore for 6 months now and have figured out that I do SO much better without fiber, gluten, sugar, dairy, seed oils, etc. I wish I'd known about the carnivore diet back then. But I'm very thankful that I eventually found it! Kent is one of the reasons I decided to try the carnivore diet. I saw his video and briefly chatted with him about it. Because of his encouragement and much research, I took the plunge!

I also had my colon removed and now have a j pouch, how do you manage with the liquid stools? Do you eat only meat or add psyllium husk to bulk up your stool. I also had bad cramps but I'm sure I needed to take electrolytes
@CherylWittenberg
@CherylWittenberg 10 ай бұрын
@Guy7339 , how long ago did you go keto or carnivore? I had horrible loose stools the first several weeks. I also had some painful, sandy-like stools that I now think was oxylate dumping because i jumped right into carnivore, instead of gradually easing into it. But after that, my stools have been normal for the first time in my life. However, I still have issues with certain types of dairy. I do okay with Amish butter and hard cheddar cheese; but cottage cheese, milk, and heavy cream will keep me homebound and in my bathroom for at least a couple of days afterward. Pork kicks in the loose stools for me as well. I haven't used anything to bulk up my stools. I eat mostly ribeyes. If I go 3 days without a movement, then I eat more fat. If I have loose or watery stools then I cut back on the fat. And yes, electrolytes are SUPER important. I didn't take any for the 1st month, and I felt pretty rough. I started drinking LMNT in my water on month 2 and it made a huge difference. I've actually found that I feel best when I take in 2 LMNT packets per day. LMNT will likely cause you watery stools in the beginning because of the magnesium. But for me, my body adjusted to it after about 3 or 4 days.
@Antcandoit
@Antcandoit 10 ай бұрын
@@CherylWittenberg I jumped on carnivore right away without lowering carbs. Only did it for two weeks because of the severe cramps. I added psyllium husk with every meal to bulk the stool. Hopefully this allows me to get off antibiotics when I try it again, as I have pretty nasty antibiotic dependant pouchitis. So even without a colon your stools are are now normal that's interesting. His doctor was hesitant to say he was in remission, but appointment after appointment, his test results kept coming back good finally his doctor had to declare him in remission. What started out as a diet has now and will forever be a lifestyle change for us because we both know that we cannot go back to our previous way of eating or the diabetes will come back for him. Then I said to myself "self why not you've tried a hundred other things" So I'm only at 7 months into carnivore and just now starting to tell I'm doing better. At first I had a hard time with it. No energy and still all the same symptoms or even worse. I almost gave up many times but now it's still day to day but I'm so glad I stayed with it! My GI doctor wanted to remove my colon but I said no and I'm glad I did. I'm 64 years old so to get my body to run on ketones or fat has been hard to get done. I still have a long way to go but hope is so much needed when dealing with this kind of thing.

Thank you for this! I was veggie for 24 years and I used the line every veggie eater uses at least once. "Meat just rots in your belly" ..or "You're a living graveyard of animals". Sadly, I used that line because I believed it was true without doing research, and because I wanted others to trust vegetarianism. His testimony and direct witness of choices completely destroys this argument. I've been keto/carnivore for 7 months and have completely changed for the better.

I don’t have a colostomy (and hopefully won’t need one now that I have switched to carnivore) however I have had a very close relationship with my bowel movements due to a spinal cord injury I have had for the last 9 years. The advantage is that because I see everything that comes out and into the toilet and I can assure you what Kent is saying is true. Any undigestible fibers such as nuts, seeds, skins of fruits/veggies, corn, popcorn kernels, pineapple fibers, celery fiber, greens (kale, spinach, arugula etc) especially if not chewed well will in fact appear in the stool. Conversely I have never once seen cheese, bacon, steak, shrimp, fish, eggs, chicken or any animal product (except for the occasional hard to digest fats) appear in my stool. My doctors have consistently told me to eat more fiber which only has caused me digestive discomfort, gas, gut pain/cramps and bloating. No thank you. I will listen to these smart doctors who know what they’re talking about when it comes to digestive health and aren’t driven by kickbacks they get from big pharma. People are waking up and thats a good thing!

I had a severe bout of pancolitis that put me in the hospital for several days two years ago. Before that, I had diabetes and psoriatic arthritis and had started a keto diet to help treat those conditions. At first, it was working great. I had already gotten entirely off of my diabetes meds, had my AC1 back to below 5.7, lost 75 pounds, and was feeling the best I had in years. Then, a year later, I added more plant-based foods, including brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. That's when the problems started that led to the hospital stay and the Pancolitis diagnosis. After my hospital stay, I backed off of my keto until I settled down. I'm almost entirely carnivore now, with an occasional plant-based food that's very digestible or fermented, like sauerkraut. I'm slowly returning to normal, and most of my pancolitis symptoms have gone away.

I have sarcoidosis effecting all my major organs. I have suspected RA as well. I spent 2 years going from dr to dr, referral after referral, racking up 10s of thousands of dollars in dr bills and the medications they gave me only made me sicker. I hit a breaking point and just decided to stop going to doctor appointments. I figured if i die, it's meant to be. I couldn't afford it anymore, and i didn't want my wife and kids to be left with my debts. I eventuality tried keto, it helped some. Tried to stick to AIP a couple of times. It helped me be able to function but i was still in massive amounts of pain. Then i began carnivore last December after seeing some Ken Berry videos. I felt awful for about a month but my joints began feeling better. 2 to 3 months in i felt the inflammation in my lungs and around heart area breaking down. It was like a miracle. I can go to work everyday, i can breathe, my joints and muscles dont hurt 24/7. Its amazing... I've fallen off a couple of times during holidays or when traveling and it flairs me up for a couple of days. It really reminds me how amazing carnivore is and that god blessed me a way to heal myself. The only dr i see is my pcp and she is amazed with my progress. Ive also lost 50 lbs. I thank god every morning that i can go to work and provide for my family. Perhaps ill live long enough to be an old man and have grand kids. For years i accepted i would die young. You're the first person I've seen talking about sarcoidosis and carnivore. I have sarcoidosis in my lungs and it's given me a purple coloured nose that I have to cover with makeup. I have a really bad ankle and the hip on my other leg is really stiff and painful. I was told that the pain in my joints wasn't sarcoid because it would happen evenly on both sides of my body. I've never had my joints scanned for granulomas though. Has this been your experience? I'm about to start the carnivore diet, you've given me inspiration that it will make a difference. Thank you for that.
@jmccormick1490
@jmccormick1490 Ай бұрын
@redphonedeb the joint pain probably is the sarcoid. The disease affects everyone differently. I have a friend who has sarcoidosis as well, and her joints swell badly. I get very achy joints when I go off of carnivore. I started in December 2022 and my body is still healing. My advice is to take it slow but don't give up. You will likely feel like crap at first but give it 90 days at least. If you feel like you need a tiny bit of vegetables have a bit of vegetables. If you have a cheat meal get back on track. Eventually you won't want to cheat because of how much better you feel when you eat clean. What I eat in a day: breakfast: 4 or 5 farm eggs and 1/2 lb kirkland bacon. Skip lunch. Dinner is usually steak, ground beef patties with swiss, or chuck roast. Sometimes I have some pepperoni sticks and sliced cheese if I'm still hungry. I eat lots of butter and salt as well. I've lost about 75 or 80 lbs as well.

With very few exceptions, not for me. I love veggies. Yes, especially with plenty of pastured-cow's butter, but even without/in salads etc., I really love em and often feel like I need more fresh veggies when I go for many days with very little. I do have chronic health issues I'm wanting to further heal and I am hoping I can handle going carnivore and do so, but I really hope I won't have to permanently. Especially because I love to garden and eat what I can grow. I can butcher a deer ( once my hubby gets it quartered for/with me) and look forward very much to having chickens and hopefully other livestock again - I grew up on a dairy farm - but I have a histamine disorder and can't have dairy and the strictest requirements for settling down my histamine system calls for only meats that have been frozen very quickly after the kill ( or, I'm hoping, at least after skinning and quartering.. ??). No slow cooker. No canned anything. No sausages etc. . That's really hard as it is, much less if I'm carnivore ! I have a really hard time managing just to keep everything relatively sanitary and cold, and get through 1 to 3 deer a season ! If we needed 10x that much meat ? Even with hubby taking off work and helping more ? I'm overwhelmed. This isn't fun for everyone, or easy when you only have so much energy/drive/abilities/skills ! Obviously, you can like what u like, but hey - definitely some of really would find it MUCH, MUCH easier if we could all just eat a fairly homegrown, balanced diet with little junk food and be totally fine, like my 89 yr old grandma is 🙄... ( she is deaf in one ear and no longer drives far or at night ) .

Meat only diapers were little clean non smelly poop nuggets that plop right into the toilet. Anything with plants comes through and I can see it in the diapers. I’ve seen the bite marks still in the plants from when he chewed and swallowed. It’s usually a sloppy gloppy mess that I have to struggle to scrape out into the toilet. Our systems are so much more functional and efficient with meat. Only meat.

I've always wondered how it was possible for a primate with a child so vulnerable outside the womb for so long to survive for millions of years of evolution just giving away its location etc every few hours the child evacuated bowels, with no way to manage that risk/danger. Think about how mothers of many species often lick the after birth off the offspring so that Predators can't locate them in such a vulnerable state. It makes 1000× more sense that with a proper diet, it's not basically diarrhea and foul gas, it's well digested and odorless bits that can be dealt with easily.

Pain went away, skin irritations disappeared and at 77 I felt like a 50 year old. THEN; A couple of months ago, I had a problem with my pension, and I have existed solely on the food bank... bless them ! They have given me tinned food, pasta, rice, vegetables, fruit, bread, and for a new years treat, a packet of biscuits and a bar of chocolate. For the record, I have never been able to afford much on carnivore..just minced beef and fish and eggs and liver which are relatively cheap and also perfectly fine. but i never skimped on butter ! . . That awful pain has come back. I could hardly dress myself this morning and ....I am itching again..

Seems ancestors blood type O was first type, all were carnivores …meat eaters! I recall, type A was next as people began to use grasses, grained etc. i mention this because my daughter, type O…..could live on just meat! And …has aversion to vinegar, any salad dressing, mayo etc. I, on the other hand, am quite happy with plant based menu, blood type A I have recently put more meats in my diet for the protein. Don’t get me wrong….I love meat with luscious grilled fat strip! I fell for the FAT IS BAD FOR YOU! Went low fat …..what a fool! Gained another 12 pounds. Eight yrs ago change diet to whole food, no sugars, seed oil, grains, No packaged foods! Dropped 50# ….cravings quickly diminished. about 4 yrs ago sensed a brain shift re food. Can’t explain it….maybe that i’m not using food for comfort or gratification. Basically wonder if a recent blood type study had been done for those currently on plant or carnivore! Can’t comment on Keto. We all need to find what works for our bodies…..living in different climates….different bacteria’s…genes. Feel good except for protein deficiency fatigue …which I’m working on 89 yrs,.

She is also type A and found good results with the changes she's made. I feel like type O because in my whole life I've only been going more toward total meat. Different stages like growing up poor in big family meant little to no meat. Parents coming of age in the fat scare era meant less fat when possible. Then move foward, i choose my own food and the fat is increased. Meat same, about 10-15%. 70% carbs. Three stages later and now i eat as much animal fat as i can get my hands on. Eat almost no carbs from veggies except for an extremely bad sugar habit. Now i eat 70-90%meat with Lettuce because i find it is easier to expel. But i think this final stage, all meat, is what is missing from my defense against sugar addiction and I'm wondering if the additional sugar and grains etc has caused the constipation and the need for the Lettuce fiber to improve that. Maybe carnivore will remove the problem and thus the need for the problematic solution in more fiber lol. Good luck to you and your daughter!

I was just squirting pure blood, had no appetite whatsoever and was on a commode in my room about 20 time per day. He told me that he was putting me on a regime of Solazapirine and steroids to combat the symptoms to see if he could try and reverse it before colon removal. Luckily this did work and my gut returned to some kind of normality. I have a colonoscopy regularly with only minor colitis detectable. I have now started a carnivore diet and will remain on it until my next procedure and hopefully see a marked improvement. I have now been well with this disease for 35 years and hope to throw it into the long grass. I do not know why doctors do not promote this total change of diet, which obviously seems to work.

I had an ileostomy due to bowel cancer and had a bag for about eight months. I had about half of my rectum removed as that was where the tumour was. I used to have terrible wind and can confirm that my bag used to blow up to the size of a brick. I discovered keto after I’d had the reversal. Getting my bowel working again after 8 months of a bag was a difficult experience. Because of the reduced size of my bowel all the waste from all the things we are told we are “supposed” to eat because of the fibre was significant. Long story short….once I discovered that meat is digested in the stomach acid and that only eating low fibre vegetables (or sometimes none at all) made a considerable difference to how many times I needed the toilet I so wished I’d known about this sooner.

That poor guy, if he had only known before he got the bag! I see so many people who accept what the doctor says, and rush them to medical interventions when there should first be diet intervention (but the doctors don’t want to know!). I went on keto in may 2023. In august 2023 my oldest son, 16 at the time went on keto voluntarily and lost 45lbs (he was overweight), then my younger skinny son went on keto, my husband cycles in and out of keto, and last week I was working a lot so we ended up eating a lot of refined carbs, after a few days the kids were BEGGING to put them back on keto! They all said they felt like rubbish, low mood, cranky etc., wow I thought that would never happen! (It was pressure but I delivered on the eggs, bacon and arugula!) and today everyone is happy again! Never ever did I think anyone in this house would be requesting that I don’t give them refined carbs!!!! 😂 thank you for your great videos Dr. Westman! ❤🎉

I had severe digestion issues all my life, but then I stopped eating fiber and my digestion issues all went away completely. My colon is still kinda wrecked but it doesn't really affect me because there is no stress on it anymore. And these results are very common for people with digestion issues, if they stop eating fiber their issues just vanish. So why do they keep telling us that fiber is necessary for good digestion? Well... as usual we have the Seventh Day Adventists to thank for this lie. They founded the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics back in 1917 and pushed this falsehood, they pummeled us with cereal commercials that came loaded with the statement that fiber helps with digestion, and now everyone believes it. But it's simply not true. I suffered for decades for nothing.

This has got to be the VERY BEST video Dr Westman has ever presented. I fully relate with @entcarnivore as I have had a Colostomy ((Left side of the Large Intestine/Colon) for the past 10 years. It was by choice not caused by illness. I am a quadriplegic and bowel care became more difficult after 33 years of being paralyzed. I didn't find KETO until this past April. None of my Dr's at the VA hospital ever talked about the Keto diet but DID push a mostly Veg/Grain with low meat diets to keep weight in check. Those diets kept my Type 2 running on the high numbers. The colostomy changed my life for the better Yes having to change the Ostomy bags isn't pleasant BUT you do learn about what does/does not get digested as stated in the video. When I started a heavier Meat based Keto I found that my output was less and no longer had bouts of horrid gas and constipation......yes you can still get that with a colostomy but rarely with an Ileostomy. The consistency went from a diarrhea like stool to a formed stool AFTER going Ketovore. There is a lot to be said about eating more meat vs veg. Also, I have gone grain free and my BS numbers are within a good range now........not reversed as yet but doing much better. Thank you to both @kentcarnivore and Dr Westman for bringing this very important video.

Interesting to note: when doctors began being controlled by bigfarma, is when the push began to propagandize how bad red meat, butter, eggs, bacon et al was so bad for you. Then came high cholesterol, diabetes, fatty liver. These are byproducts of NOT eating proper fats and meat. You have to wonder when hospitals will feed a diabetic corn, potatoes, bread,etc because that is the set standard. It's all by design. So happy to see vids like this.❤

i used to eat salad and small amount of meat, and kept fat at a minimum ON DAILY BASIS, i was known as the healthy eating freak in my office. Yet, i was having constipation which led to me going through a course of hydro colon therapy. It was a great feeling having 30+ year old fecal matter removed. Then i was back to work and continued the same diet. I continued to have constipation until i found blood in my stool. In 2021, i decided to book an appointment with a colorectal cancer surgeon and underwent colonoscopy. I had many polyps removed including one that was unusually large. A biopsy was done and this large polyp was evolving and expected to turn cancerous within months and i was lucky to have discovered it at the right time. The whole colonoscopy was filmed and saved in a CD-ROM, and the doctor said, "bring your friends together and watch the video "😂. I stopped eating salad, eating meat only, no more constipation and never felt better!

I am a senior women who has tried several times a vegetarian/vegan diet at the advise of my primary doctor but always ended up stopping due to bone pain, joint pain, muscles pain, higher total cholesterol, high LDL, higher blood glucose, gassy like crazy, fatigue and weakness! Yes I know I mentioned a lot of stuff here but that’s what happened, I have some arthritis as well and the plant based diet made it worse with lots of flare-ups which is very strange because it is supposed to do just the opposite. The same thing with my cholesterol which sky rocketed which is an oxymoron because according to the doctor it was supposed to go down and not up! When I asked him why my cholesterol has gone up on a vegan diet, he only said that it was interesting but had no answer for it. I been Keto now for over one month and feel so much better, I also lost 11 pounds and only have 4 more to go to reach my ideal weight, my blood pressure is normal again and I no longer need Lisinopril! Also my heart rate has slowed down from running mostly in the higher 80 to 90, even over 100 at times to the 70es to the mid 70es, so I will continue to do Keto because my pain in my joints and muscles has greatly improved! 👍

But this bread is sprouted and no sugar added, we only eat a slice a day, but we also make keto pancakes and waffles. We are sugar free but drink coffee, no alcohol, no cigarettes, we only drink water and completely stay away from sweets which is easy for me because I don’t have a sweet tooth, my husband on the other hand loves sweets and has a hard time giving it up. I use mostly olive oil in my cooking and some duck fat, a little butter sometimes to. I only buy grass fed and grass finished beef, we also eat fish, some pork and eggs. Doctors now tell you that it is ok to eat eggs, even cardiologists, at least my friend said that hers told her it was ok and that he eats eggs every day himself! This keto diet really helps me feel better and lost my stubborn weight with it that didn’t want to come off, not even doing a vegan diet. I only have 4 more pounds to go and I am at my ideal weight again, my husband is already there and has to increase his food intake I guess so he won’t lose anymore weight. 😆

I have UC, diagnosed at 26, now 30. Last year I was just about to lose my colon. Recently in 100% remission and doing well. I'm taking Rinvoq. I started this diet and Rinvoq at the same time so I can't say which helped most but I ate plain salted meat (mostly slow cooked pork and chicken), green beans fried in cold pressed coconut oil, and adams peanut butter and I took a multivitamin, krill oil (red capsules from costco), and vitamin d supplements for over a year and my blood work was normal and healthy. Low on Vit D despite 2000 IU per day supplements is all, so I'm upping to 4000IU per day. Also I ate the meat and green beans twice a day and as much peanut butter as I wanted in an 8 hour window everyday. The peanut butter you're probably better off without as it gave me a little trouble as I probably ate too much of it but nonetheless I still recovered quickly. My improvements were glaringly obvious in a month and within 3 months I felt almost normal. I kept going for over a year anyway because it was working and I was afraid of regression. Good luck friend.

Crohn's and other gut diseases are exacerbated by certain carbohydrates like wheat, refined sugars, simple starchy veggies (potatoes, sweet potatoes etc...). My sister got incredibly sick about 20 years ago (she was in her late teens/early 20's) and ended up hospitalized with a diagnosis of Crohn's. She was so sick, emaciated, depressed and hopeless. When she left the hospital the nurse told her to eat a bland diet of rice and potatoes. She asked "how am I supposed to get any nutrients??" A friend gave my mom a copy of "Breaking The Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall and she helped my sister start eating the restrictive but extremely gut healing diet, starting with very basic foods like bone broth and homemade low lactose yogurt. She slowly added SCD foods into here diet and regained her healthy weight and strength. She has been on the SCD diet for YEARS and is the picture of health. Meats, non starchy veggies, honey, nuts, nut butter and nut flours and seeds. Carnivore is great for many people but if you are looking for a bit less restriction and some variety and are in dire need of healing gut disease then I can't recommend the SCD way of eating more strongly! There IS HOPE for gut disease!! As a side note, when people ask her why she stays so consistent with her foods she answered, "I'd rather spend lots of time in the kitchen than in the hospital!"

Anecdotes... I have one too. Vegan for 8 years and feel great, currently trying to put on muscle, been at it a few months. Not suffering from any of the stuff here that people are complaining about. I had the roughest time when I hit 30 and going vegan at the time has steadily turned me around. I feel focused, alert, flexible, and stronger than I ever have done. Which is lucky, because none of these are reasons I changed my diet for. Does it mean that what this doc is saying is nonsense? Nope. Does it mean that you're all full of it? Nope. An anecdote is just a personal experience. Shouldn't take it as whether or not the thing is right for you. Humanity is an opportunistic omnivore. We'll eat and adapt to anything we can do survive. Every single human being alive is the latest member of a slightly differently evolving branch of the human species and our parents, grandparents, their parents etc all contributed to our slightly differently evolved gut biome, with their preferences, availability and habits. Imo, unless you have a really good reason to, you should just play it safe and try to eat a mix of everything our species has currently adapted to. Or stick to copying your Dad's diet. And if you're going to take a strict diet, make sure you have all the vitamins and stuff to make up for it. Personally, I see what's going down in the slaughterhouses and factories and see it all as pure evil and the wrong path for our species to be on. To have fought against slavery but proudly advertise McDonald's to children to me that shows that we in no way have any intention to change from being some dominating slave master of a species unless we stand up against eachother. Profits will lead the human species like a carrot on a stick until someone speaks up and shouts about it so here many of us are. But in terms of believing what kind of diet is healthiest for us, I would like future humans to be adapted and capable of eating anything. Like seriously, if the world goes to shit, we need to be eating paste made from 200 year old cockroach corpses. Any 'strict diet' we come up with now is purely a product of our comfortable, transient place in society and time right now. You could look at it as being pompous and immature how much people are fighting over it.

I’m interested in this diet so the other night I just ate chicken, I did not have to get up in the middle of the night due to all the gas build up, and there was very little to empty in the morning, he’s totally right about what comes out, amazing! I’m going to go forward with this and see how it goes, hopefully it will help with joint inflammation!

@@debbie.mckenzie no I don’t, it’s been over 5-6 years since I had a flair up, but I’ve only had about 10 since my surgery 25 years ago.

WOW! You can't exactly argue against his logic here.
