I am relatively knew to weight lifting. My max bench had been 165. One morning I was a little out of it and loaded on all of my weights. It felt so heavy!!! On my way back up I realized I had just benched 205. I really didn't think I could do over the 165 until I accidentally added 40lbs to my bar.

He's an absolute beast, but he's never done the 6 plates flat. He inclines only a little bit less than he flats if you watch his videos. I mean he's still a beast and can hit a 500 one rep max. In the past he was close to 500 on incline. He hit 455 for 3 on incline around 6 months ago.

@@wyattb6066 For sure. I mean it's possible, but I don't think he's ever verified it. He did seem a smaller in his 20s though. He definitely has more muscle now, but he was focusing on powerlifting a lot back then, so yeah his lifts were better. Mike is a super strong individual in literally EVERY exercise there is. I mean curls, rope press downs. Just any lift at all he's a beast in. Mike is a really good trainer in my opinion.

What he's referring to . Is a basic technique to get your nervous system running. I've used it from time to time. The way I do it , is 2 reps chill add weight do 2 more repeat till I'm up over my max. A few work outs like that will tune in your nervous system to push hard as fk. And so you will lift heavier. The weight will actually seem lighter.

The noises in the background... Most places I train at has at least one person making bizarre sounds. They typically stop after they see me warming up with more than their 1 rep PR. I would expect that in that gym after that 405 incline set that the noise stopped. Funny how that works. The noise stops and they get all timid.
