My mom used to crush all nuts, almond and store it and add nuts mix and raisins to hot milk and leave it for some time until it became lukewarm so that we can drink it.. I loved it and I liked eating the nuts and raisins in the end with spoon.. I prefer that more than blended version

Here in Egypt , we simply soak dates in hot boiled milk until dates soften, then after they become not very hot we put them in the fridge for some hours, then pour into cups and eat dates in it’s milk with a spoon. milk become sweet from soaking dates in it . it’s very delicious to eat and drink the sweeten cold milk with it , and more simple than this recipe 👍

Yeah We also add dried fruits and sometimes we use qamar al-din or just water instead of milk each of them makes the dish tastes different. Also some of us add nuts or shredded coconuts . The drink in the video we make it too but without basil seeds and we use walnuts instead of cashews . We also make black sesame and dates drink , banana and dates drink and more . There are tons of ways to enjoy dates in Egypt in desserts , in drinks, in baking and so on even as a breakfast you can enjoy it with dishes like dates and eggs but yeah I agree with you the recipe that you have mentioned is one of the most simple traditional recipes and it's super delicious. All the Egyptians love it .
