That was his catch phrase. When I hear that, I am a kid again watching This Week in Baseball w/ Mel Allen. Alot of the baseball players are real players. The first one at the plate was Jay Johnstone. Of course, the "killer" number 44 was Mr. October Reggie Jackson, a Hall of Famer. He once had a candy bar named after him, The Reggie Bar. It was great!

Addie, I'm so glad that you had fun watching The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988). This movie really fits in for you as "The Naked Fun". Speaking of fun, you're DEFINITELY gonna have a lot more fun with its sequels. See you soon for The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991).
@MarcoMM15 ай бұрын
Great reaction Addie like always, i love this movie, and Leslie Nielsen is epic. This movie is based off the short-lived show "Police Squad!" from 1982, where the Frank Drebin character was originated by Leslie Nielsen. It was cancelled by ABC after only four of the six episodes aired. Apparently it was because you really had to pay attention to the show to catch a lot of the humour in the show. Sounds like a weird reason for cancellation, doesn't it? There are some fun-facts about it. John Houseman as the driving instructor. He was one of the most significant figures in American theater. Along with Orson Welles he co-founded the Mercury Theatre, and co-produced Citizen Kane. He was the first head of the Drama Division at the Julliard School. He founded The Acting Company with members of the first graduating class of the Julliard acting program, including Patti LuPone, Kevin Kline, David Ogden Stiers, and a dozen others. In his long career he produced or directed some forty Broadway plays and thirty-three films. It was John Houseman’s final film role It was only rather late in life that he began acting. The red things, that Frank and Ed were eating in the car, were pistachios. There are conflicting stories as to why, but the shells were dyed red here in the States; that practice started dying off during the '80s. That was a big pile of pistachio shells outside Frank's car door. Priscilla Presley had never done comedy before. She was cast by ZAZ for the same reason that other actors mostly known for serious roles were put in their movies: it makes the dry parody even funnier. Presley had worked on the show Dallas. Zucker often quipped that the only problem with her was when her ex, Elvis, visited the set. The terrorist organization that Frank attacks and beats up in the opening scene was written as a nod to S.P.E.C.T.R.E., the terrorist organization in the James Bond film franchise. The theme song of this movie was played at Nielsen’s funeral. Nielsen passed away on November 28, 2010 at the age of 84 and was laid to rest in Fort Lauderdale. Dominik Hauser’s theme played as the Canadian Mounted Police carried his coffin. Keep up the good work.

This movie never gets old. As others have mentioned this movie is spawned from the short lived TV show "Police Squad". It only lasted 6 episodes before it was cancelled, but the movie franchise was a huge success. Police Squad is actually a parody of a 1950s TV show called "M Squad" starring Lee Marvin. Even the opening siren sequence is a parody of that show. Great reaction. I hope you keep watching the franchise. Another great Zucker Brothers movie is "Top Secret" starring Val Kilmer.

Running gags: the squad room was labeled "Police Squad" but one word was on the outside of the glass and the other on the inside, so one read backwards; detective "Al" was always too tall to fit in the frame; Drebin would offer a cigarette to a witness saying "Cigarette?", and be answered That's right."; a gun battle would occur where the view would switch back and forth until panning out revealed they were only a few feet from each other; a shoe-shine boy who could answer questions on any subject; and the freeze-frame where the actors would just not move, except after a few seconds, one would move

The Naked Gun Trilogy was an extension of the short-lived Police Squad TV show. Leslie Nielsen starred in the show as Frank Drebin. In each episode, there was a special guest star that was only in the opening credits. Why? They were killed off during that part. They never appeared anywhere else in the episode. One of those special guest stars actually made it into the second movie as the villain. You'll see who it is.
