Adding a Power Watchdog Surge Protector to an RV or Travel Trailer

Why did you need the extra wire ? Could you just cut the existing wire and add the box in the middle ?

Your wire amount could be different, but I wanted enough slack in the wiring after adding the surge protector. That's why I used the wiring to go to the outside plug, and used the original outside plug wiring end to go into the surge protector. Good luck with your project!- Mike

Did you wire that backwards? Shouldn’t the In be coming from the shore power and the Out be going to the trailers breaker panel?

I was screaming at the TV the whole time it was wired backwards....then he cut where he realized it and flipped it....
