Where I live, my daughter’s silky terrier-15 lbs, was attacked by their neighbor’s pit bull when it climbed over her back yard fence. It grabbed him by the throat and chest and shook him. Vet said if he’d gotten one more shake he’d be dead. He had to have major surgery and nearly didn’t survive. It’s been 2 years and he is still afraid to go into the back yard. The court ruled the owner needed to keep the dog in a run with a top on it or on a leash. Of course they didn’t. It got in the yard again and attacked. My daughter picked her dog up before the dog could get at him but the dog big her instead. She was also covered in bruises and scratches. She had to get stitches and take time off work because she’s an ER nurse. Court reminded the neighbor to keep the dog in the kennel. Period. Of course they didn’t. The dog got into the yard again but they got their dog out and locked the other dog in and called the police. Nothing happened so my daughter who owns her house got in touch with their landlord with photos, videos, and bills from the hospital and vet. Told the landlord they’d sue him for allowing a tenant to have a vicious dog. He evicted them. It’s crazy! Pit bull in my neighborhood attacked me walking my dog on a leash. Didn’t get the dog but tore me up. I filed a complaint but by the time it got investigated it attacked four other dogs and injured owners walking them. They also got evicted and their dog seized.

My brothers dog doesn't like other dogs. She wasn't socialized as a puppy much, the only time she's okay with dogs is if you give her time time to get use to the new dog (a gate between them so she can smell them before she fully meets them). When she goes on walks she's in a full harness so she can't slip out. We also move to the side off of trails so other people and dogs can walk by. When I say we my brother is the one that walks her and I walked our other dog who is friendly. She hates when a dog she doesn't know runs up to her and we've had close calls with people not having dogs on a leash. All because your dog is friendly with other dogs doesn't mean mine is. I do get having your dog off the leash so you can play fetch but you should be able to call your dog back no issue, we've had that too of people having there dogs off leash to roam the area but as soon as they see another dog they immediately call the dog back and put the leash on until we FULLY pass.

I had already seen from the comments that the defendant wasn't going to put her dogs on leashes but...to actually hear it is blew my mind. She's talking about leashes like they're hair cuts or clothes. Leashes protect your dog and other people/dogs. This isn't a person belief system. This is basic animal care and the thing I know that will bug me more than anything is I am 1000% certain that if her dogs ever end up attacked, hit, run over, or anything that could have been prevented if she had a leash, she's going to act entirely the victim. she doesn't deserve her dogs and if I were the neighborhood I'd report every instance to the city/town so she can get repeat fines and whatever the escalation is in her town

Great question after that defendant's attitude. The new landlord is just as pitiful. I am always annoyed with half the population for this reason. If you are going to be a pet owner, be responsible for obeying the laws relating to your pet. If you are going to be a landlord, same concept applies. Tenants pay rent so they can have a comfortable living space. If 2% of their rent needs to be applied towards pest control, do your job, landlord! Do you think rent is there to cover your mortgage or to be pocketed as profit prior to repairs and maintenance?

Many years ago I had a situation where my children, ages 3, 6, and 10 at the time, couldn’t play in their own yard due to 2 dogs owned by our neighbor. A large coon hound and a German shepherd. Granted we lived in the country and there was no leash law, but I did warn them to keep their dogs off of our property, away from our children or I will shoot them. Well I guess they thought I was bluffing, because one day the coon hound decided to come after me and I shot it. I hated to do it because I love dogs, but when it’s a choice between me or my children getting bit or mauled or shooting the offending dog, there is no choice. Here in this video we have an entitled dimwit who lives where there are leash laws but she sees it as a personal choice. A tragedy waiting to happen.

I don’t know if you just shot the dog out of anger since they roamed around before, that’s horrible. You live in the country with all kinds of critters, I guess you get a lot of target practice. @@tinawindham6958 obviously you have never lived where dogs run in packs, become feral, chase skunks and raccoons, get rabies, become vicious, kill live stock and chase down new born calves and horses till they catch and kill them. How about the neighbors fence in their dogs? My children were on our property, they stayed on our property. I guess you believe that the dog owners have the right to let their dogs terrorize the neighbors without consequences. The neighbor was forewarned of my intentions if the dog was loose on my property and I guess they just didn’t care or didn’t think I would actually do it.
