Hi all! This week I have a tutorial for you on adding raw edges to knit garments. I've used Vogue 9374 for this tutorial but I'll not link it here as it's now out of print. I'm sure you can find it on line somewhere if you'd like. All other links are below and, as always, thank you so much for being here!
My measurement info for reference:
Height 5'3"
weight 138 LB
bust 38"
waist 34"
hips 39"
LA finch fabrics:

I got it in my mind about 15 years ago to make a white woven fabric blouse with raw edges. I wore it out with my mother who was convinced that it was either falling apart or inside out. You've inspired me to do it again......

Hi Gini, I was just taking a break to eat a bacon sandwich and needed something to watch... and there you were! Just when I needed you 😂. I have this pattern and wondered how it looked made up. I may not do the raw edges first time I make them but I really like the idea and they look great. I probably will make them up at some point. We are having the marketing photos for the house taken on Friday ist thing, its lunchtime Wednesday right now. I'm staging rooms today and doing a bit of spring cleaning. We are nearly there! Thanks for keeping me company for a bit, see you again soon.

This is how I did this on a pair of pants. I cut extra strips of the jersey and sewed them into the seam allowance so they'd curl the correct way. I used a slightly wider strip, folded in half, for them since I wanted a little extra weight. You can also sew strips curled on both sides directly to the finished seams. It's tricky on the inside legs but can be done. If doing this method you need to stop at the middle of the crotch anyway. You can't sew a continuous line, start at hem, go up, stop. Then on the other side start at hem, etc. Same at sides, start at hem or top and do it the same on the other leg. I'm guessing this was clear as mud, lol. I don't do front/back crotch with any trims ever. It can get uncomfortable sometimes. Nobody should be looking close enough to notice a difference 😀 So good to see my Claude and a rare glimpse of Arlo. I think I only saw him once before in a shot with Daisy. It's been a long time...I think you were at the other house.

Love how these trousers turned out, and very helpful video! I was just looking (again) at a favourite t-shirt which has a small raw edge at the neckline, and wondering if I could manage to replicate it, so I’ll look again now - I would definitely have forgotten the bit about which way the fabric curls without your reminder. Silly, because how many stockinette knit projects (and their accompanying swatches!) have I done to be unable to think about *knit* fabric as the same! 😂

I know! I’ve made SO MANY knit swatches you’d think that would be ingrained in my brain but noooooo! 😂

I’ve never tried this embellishment! Looks interesting. I liked the way you made the waistband for elastic. I always hated trying to feed the elastic through that other way; it causes curling😕 Loved seeing Claude! I didn’t know you had three dogs. My youngest has three cats and two dogs. She loves her pets❤️ I’m happy with my one😊

Thanks! This was great. I tend to prefer very plain (often solid) fabrics, but still want to add some interest. This raw edge/seam technique will be a nice way to add that interest. Looking forward to your ideas for woven ideas - I use linen a lot, and want to spice it up some. Thanks again - fabulous video,

Thanks Jessica I love linen and use it a lot and it’s a fabric that gives a nice frayed edge when it’s raw I’ll get that video up in the next couple of weeks

Thank you for the tips and tutorial. ❤Has me already thinking of uses. Spent yesterday making the new Merchant & Mills Celeste top from a buttery soft thrifted linen table cloth. Turned out really good. Our styles are very similar and I thought of you when making it. Can hardly wait to make it again.

I’m obsessed. I was also on a pattern buying ban but I couldn’t help myself. I’m being super selective. This is the best pattern I have seen in eons. So me. 0 alterations. Chose size according to bust measurement. I’m 36” and cut out a 10. It was perfect. It’s short and perfect for high rise pants. Used a thrifted buttery soft linen light blue table cloth and white buttons on back. Turned out so cute. All I want to do is start it. Do you ever do that with your new makes? 😂 Just ordered 2 cuts of cotton ikat from India on Etsy and I’m going to make 2 more. Thank you again for your support in the sewing community. ❤ Kristi

Hi Gini! I missed you last week, I hope the remodel is going smoothly. This was an interesting tutorial, if I ever make knit pants it will come in handy. The advice about sewing knits and their properties is a great help for knits in general. I loved the photo of you and your mom🩷, you both looked amazing😊. Were you wearing one of your makes? If so what were they. I really like the look of the fabrics you used. I am so excited to see your summer wardrobe next week🤗. I love your ideas and style😊. Thank you so much😘💕.
