Very helpful…I’ll be setting up my first planted and first tank since I became severely disabled 2o years ago…I’m going for Blackwater…I really like your planting designs. I used to be a terrestrial gardner and really miss it. Exited about gardening below water!

Egeria densa is an underrated plant, it grows so fast! I really like the look of it too, it almost looks like seaweed. You have really healthy CPDs as well. My local shop had some in but they all looked very sickly. I didn't have a tank for them anyway, but I'd like them someday. Thanks for the updates. Take care.

I bought these fish from a local breeder because the closest fish shop is almost 5 hours driving from the place I live at. They look amazing.

Do you treat/quarantine your plants before you add them to the tank? I’m new to the hobby and about to order my first plants but I’m not sure about having snails or other things like that in my tank. Is it okay if there are snails/snail eggs on the plants? How would I get rid of them later if I don’t want them? How does it effect the tank cycling? Sorry for all the questions lol, just trying to replicate what your tanks look like!
@IMaqua Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Snails are OK for me although some people don't like them. They help to cycle my tanks faster. I never treated my plants because I always buy from the same place and I don't mind snails. If you want to treat plants you can do it with potassium permanganate or bleach.

Such a relaxing video. In Austealia cpds cost $25.00 Aud each an thats on sale price. But i'm still gonna get some. I know they have small mouths so what were you feeding them? Hikari micro pellets?.
@IMaqua Жыл бұрын
Mine eat finely crushed fish flakes (any brand will do) or Sera ImmunPro mini pellets. But basically they will eat anything as long as the food is finely crushed.

@@IMaqua yeah thanks. I do have school of ember tetras an school of clown killifish that have small mouths. So have you kept cpds with cherry shrimp. I do have lots of hiding spots. But i've heard mixed storys about them
@IMaqua Жыл бұрын
Dont worry about it. I have kept shrimps with Betta and they survive. Just introduce your shrimp colony first, feed them well and let them multiply for a few months. After that introduce fish. CPDs will go for smallest shrimps but adults are fine.

One of my favourite fish,shame they don’t grow much bigger.as the markings are out standing.easy to breed if you follow a few simple rules.can be very expensive per fish depending where you are on the planet 🌎 a guy told me that in some parts of the USA you can pay 15 dollars per fish 😮I’m lucky I’m in the Uk 🇬🇧 then I can get them for £4-25 each but cheaper if I buy more..steve 🇬🇧
