In March of this year, I spent 14 days on the Spider-Man: Lotus set with the great privilege to perform the stunts for Spidey. Firstly, I don’t condone any form of prejudice, whether it be done with malicious intent or “just for fun.” I truly feel for those who were harmed by the hurtful words in the messages. And as a white person, I know I could never fully understand the hurtful impact of racist language and would therefore never attempt to justify or even forgive such actions. But I would like to say that my time on set was amazing. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly. There was never any sentiment of hate of any kind. I was just as shocked as everyone was when the messages leaked because they were so inconsistent with the character I had observed in my newly-made friends. That’s why I believe Gavin and Warden when they say they have learnt, grown, and changed. Lastly, Gavin was definitely a young and inexperienced director. And he knew that. But despite what the internet claims, he never acted elite, full of himself, or all-knowing. He knew that I understood stunt coordination more than he did and would always let me make the final decision in those matters. That type of collaboration and humility made him a great director to work with. Overall, that’s obviously just my point of view and everyone is entitled to their personal opinions. But I do hope fans are still able to appreciate my stunts and the hard work that the rest of the crew put into this spectacular fan film. All for the love of Spidey. 🤟

Gavin, being held accountable is hard because it is easy to stand in judgement of others. We live in a culture today where apologies mean nothing, taking steps to right your wrong means nothing, and the belief that people are beyond redemption and change is difficult to comprehend. But I don't want to live in a world like that. Yes, I am a black man. Yes, I read your words. Yes, I heard your audios. And, yes, I have done and said things in my past that I am not proud of. We both are human, and we both fall from time to time. Whether your comments were from 5 years ago, 3 years ago--I do not know. But what I do know is that I do not stand in a position to throw stones. You are young. You will live, and you will learn. What matters now is what you do from here. I believe, if you put in the work, you can be restored. Don't waste the moment. Make it count, Gavin. I'm rooting for you.

We are who we choose to be. And for what we've seen day one within the making of this film, towards where we are at NOW! This man is a good and chill dude that has hopes and freaking DREAMS. We've seen him treating the people that knitted together this passion film of his with great compassion, even the people that quit called out the fake *BS* that had Gavin treating his workers wrong. While I didn’t know you guys around the time of the “stuff” that came out. I do know you guys today & I know that you’re two of nicest & most genuine people i’ve ever met. When people started calling you all these things I actually broke down crying multiple times (more times than I told you about) cause it was really hard seeing the internet saying the worst possible things about you guys on a daily basis. I only wish I could pull all my memories with you two out of my head like an SD Card & show some people just how wrong they are. Sometimes I feel like people have forgotten the simple concept of growing up & maturing. Gavin you are not only one of my best friends, but one of the most collaborative directors i’ve ever worked with & I know so many people that worked on Lotus can attest to that. I mean there’s literally an entire scene in the movie that Tuyen & Moriah wrote on one of our off days because when somebody has an idea, no matter if you think it’s a good or bad one, you ALWAYS listen to it. That quality is something I hope any director I work with in the future has. Okay wow this comments pretty long now so i’ll finish up by saying something i’ve said many times before, you & Warden are two of my best friends in the world & I hope to be creating things together until we’re too old to. Hey Gavin, it's nice to hear clarification from yourself about things I already understood myself but wanted to make 100% sure. Yes it's true that you messed up years ago with those messages/comments, I understand the feeling, in my past (I was even younger than the age you had when you said those things) I said publicly very stupid and wrong stuff at school or online, then growing but still young I improved but still has quite arrogant or provocative way to express opinions; few of these things feel real distant from the current myself (I'm almost the opposite about some things now) but I still know that even if past it was real stuff, very stupid, probably forgiven by other but not forgettable. You did the right thing to address everything that was real that happened and didn't belittle the matter, remembering those things is the only way to do better, sometimes I'm almost disgusted thinking about few ideas and attitudes I had back in the days. In my experience I didn't noticed any bad attitude from you or any crew member, I can guarantee these things aren't related to the movie. The only little troubles during production, as we also had few little discussions, were due to organization problems and a bit of confusion, and it's very understandable because this was a new experience for many of us, you included. I'm still grateful that you and the crew that worked all together put all that passion and effort to make this possible and I hope it ends getting the movie released with a result that satisfies everyone who spent theirselves on the project (myself as well ahaha), and obviously the fans and who contributed to the crowdfunding (and I'm included in this group as well ahaha). I know that you and all the crew members worked very hard, even harder than necessary , my team too, to make the fans happy and show the potential we had, but a lot of people was clearly happy after this controversy, because as Goblin said: "the only thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail". I'm not obviously saying that you, warden, or any crew member is a hero, but the intent and goal was good and pure, and after you start getting success people will enjoy to see you fail, even if you were serving a good and positive matter.

Those trailers were top quality! Grab both yours and Warden Wayne's Nigga Passes, and FINISH THE MOVIE, BRUH! You good and it's all good! Racism don't mean shit until it's time to throw hands, words never hurt anyone. We as black people took that huge negative and turned it into positive pop culture when you think about it. Hell, I've been called "nigger" lots of times when I vacationed in Florida, Georgia and Texas, the difference is they knew they wanted to get a rise outta me, but no, you don't feed that energy! I reply with, "A'ight my nigga, that's what's up!" Leaving them confused AF, and nothing comes out of it. Now, everyone I know; black, white, yellow, brown, khaki, bird or fish are no different than The Boondocks lol Nigga this, nigga that, nigga PLEASE! "Can a nigga borrow a french fry?" NIGGA, IS YOU GON' GIVE IT BACK?! All that to reiterate, if we stop feeding into negative energy and giving shitty people validation, we all could be watching Spider-Man Lotus right now lol! But for real though, it takes courage to go online before millions and air everything out. That makes you and Wayne a'ight in my book. #FinishSpidermanLotus

If you can take this a lesson and you've truly changed I can honestly forgive you. I feel this is a genuine apology as you took time out the re-evaluate and I believe everybody deserves a chance for redemption.

Never has a controversy hit me like it did when I found out there was one surrounding my number one inspiration, Spider-Man. Nevertheless, a fan project with so much incredible work behind it. I'm not here to call people racist or not racist. But hearing another side of things, and someone taking responsibility for their actions is definitely the right way to go. That's what Spidey taught us all. There's two sides to everything. And of course, that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. Continue being responsible. In all you do. Looking forward to seeing this project in its fullest form.

what happened in the past is in the past, we learn from our mistakes, never run away from it, mistakes can be forgiven and people do deserve forgiveness and a second chance because forgiving ourselves, forgiving our mistakes and asking for a second chance is the right thing to do.
