@@dajoj9730 I don't see anything wishy-wash about what Dr Westman said. He clearly agrees that LMNT should have put it on their label. And he recognizes that for most people, that tiny amount isn't going to be a problem. But for some people who have sensitivity to it, it could still be an issue. His message is clearly : "yes LMNT was in the wrong there and should have put it on the label" AND "regardless, you are probably fine because it's such a small amount, unless you have a sensitivity to it". In other words : LMNT did a wrong by not being transparent to their customers. But the product ( if correctly labelled) is actually fairly good for most people. It’s 400mg per serving. That’s less than half a gram of carbs. While I completely agree on the transparency issue, the people blaming LMNT for keeping them out of ketosis while they are eating low carb bread and tortillas, keto treats, etc need to get real. You’d have to be drinking 10-20 LMNT per day to get the kind of numbers you are throwing around here which would neither be recommended nor affordable for most people.
@pattylyman7907Ай бұрын
@@janetkittelson Very few are saying this has actually knocked them out of ketosis. What they are saying is, it is having an affect on them. As a certified health coach I do not recommend LMNT to any of my clients. It is a ripoff consisting of 85% cheap refined salt. Best to mix our own for pennies instead. Ratio of Sodium to Potass is horrible as well
@judyheidick9793Ай бұрын
What ratios do you recommend ? Thank you for your response
@Adam-jr4lxАй бұрын
unless you need extra electrolytes, you should salt your meat to taste. Usually that'll get you to around a 1:1 ratio. natural ratio in meat is 3:1 potassium to sodium.
@JYAN2852Ай бұрын
@@judyheidick9793 Ancestrally speaking we never had access to salt until the past few hundred years through refinement and maritime trading. We ate meats unsalted for millions of years. People eating low carb keto or carnivore tend to do fasting and under eat proteins, where almost all minerals come in. Not the fats. Proteins generally have a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio of Potass to Sodium (salt is only 40% sodium remember). By over salting it causes the kidneys and sweat glands to dump out excess sodium trying to maintain balance of electrolytes leading to constant dehydration. Every cell has thousands of sodium-potass pumps to escort molecules into and out of cells. Keeping these minerals balanced is very important for metabolism, hydration, nerve signaling, serum PH balance etc

Well, as a member of the carnivore community, transparency about ingredients is crucial, especially when we’re vigilant about our dietary intake This recent revelation that LMNT contains between 250mg to 550mg of maltodextrin, despite previous beliefs that it contained only 4mg or none at all, makes we upset 😡 Even if the amount is minimal, the lack of transparency feels deceptive and undermines our trust. It should have clearly communicated to consumers who rely on accurate ingredient to make informed choices If I were LMNT, I’d address this issue by issuing a sincere apology without excuses and consider offering refunds for recent purchases. Such actions would demonstrate accountability and a commitment to regaining consumer trust - I won’t be purchasing again not because of the amount, but the deception Love you Doctor ❤

We live in an age of abundant information, much of it about health effects. Before we had a few big rocks of orthodox thought and now have much refiner granularity. We are just discovering facts that have existed all along. What we lack is a framework to rank-order the attention we put to these things in a way that benefits us rather than be herded by interests, or the monetizers of popular opinion. A great deal of what we are discovering is narrowly interesting but of very little general importance. I am a type 1 diabetic, maltodextrin is the bane of my existence but a half a gram dissolved into a quart of water? Of all of the critical uses of our outrage, this ranks up there with fart deodorant. We need to rank-order practical response to new fact, a skill never taught and rarely appreciated. Now, I am not salting and not cooking and finding the raw beef just amazing. That makes 5 years of carnivore for me and I'm very happy with the results but even more amazed now after 3 months of only raw beef and all these beautiful salts I've collected are going to just remain as decoration in my no longer needed kitchen...
