My family was stuck on top of a mountain in Utah without flashlights. Dropped our only source of light, iphone 5 off a cliff. Oh we prayed alright. Then out of nowhere we see lights flashing. We screamed our heads off. Two Mormon kids who decided to climb the mountain that same night. "We will help you down." Such sweet words. We are still so grateful. O they even retrieved my iphone. When it fell, the flashlight that was on was facing the sky thankfully.

While I admit that it does take courage, it is also extremely disrespectful and obnoxious. I am most decidedly opposed to _all_ Abrahamic religions and their offshoots, and I don't want anyone coming to my door to push their religion on me. I'm an atheist / philosophical Taoist and I respect people's experiences enough to let them make their own religious lifestyle choices and I have made mine, but to come and try to invalidate my experiences that led me to where I am is the height of rudeness and self-righteousness. I have a chronic autoimmune disorder, but I am not in any way suffering despite being in tremendous pain because of principles of mindfulness meditation and philosophical Taoism. If someone wants to know more, I am certainly willing to tell them, but I would never go door-to-door to convince myself I am right and people should agree with me. How arrogant! These are faith-based beliefs and should only be shared *if* requested. You might need saving, @Particia Browne, but the only think I want to be "saved" from is people coming early on weekends to known on my door and try to share their religious social contagion with me. Poorly done. There is nothing well done here. Can you not tell by doors shutting that people consider this the height of rudeness and that it is unwanted? Let it be known that you are whatever denomination you are, and if someone asks, then share your religious beliefs with them. Don't force them upon others. There is so much wrong with this.
@andynonymous6769 Жыл бұрын
@@vorpal22 yes I think it's the height of arrogance to try and convert something. You'd have to really believe you know how the universe works better than the person you're trying to convert. Why? Their book is just as likely to be true as any other book, just as likely that none of them are true. It's like they think I've never thought about this stuff before, that I don't think about it as much as any theist

Magzle Bee It is my right to hate brainwashing. You should be more open-minded.
@LDaizy157 жыл бұрын
ThorstenVXO You are right. Brainwashing is terrible thing, and is a form of slavery of the mind. In the LDS (Mormon) church we firmly believe in studying out this Gospel for ourselves, and asking God individually if it's true. (See Moroni 10:3-5, Book of Mormon.) I have been studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ my whole life, and I know it is true with all my being. I really am grateful that there is no brainwashing going on here, and there never will be. If people are really living the Gospel of Jesus Christ as our Savior wants them too brainwashing will never be a part of the Church, Gospel, or people. As always, it's our individual choice to believe what we want to. I will respect your right, as you respect mine. Thank you for your concern. :)

I prayed about the Book of Mormon and like it says in the Bible the spirit of revelation entered into me and told me more than I ever bargained for. I joined the Church because of the power of God that witnessed the simple message of young missionaries. There are many questions I have, but the one thing I am unable to question is whether or not the Book of Mormon is the Word of God. I must say it is, or I am a liar of the worst degree. Investigate the truths yourself. Buddah was compelled to leave everything in a search for God. If you can work up the desire within you to search for God like he did and read the Book of Mormon it will cause the impossible to become reality. The Bible says "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." This indeed happened and I am confident that if someone does as I did that it can happen to them too. My confidence comes from the fact that I have a knowledge of it. I solemnly say that what I am stating is true and that I know it is true and God knows that I know it is true.

True worship could take as long as the Spirit of God directs, unfortunately religions prepackaged some forms of worship that is controlled by men in some remote office somewhere. The Spirit of God doesn’t work that way. When guided by the Spirit the service could last 20 minutes or 10 hours, people wouldn’t notice the difference because time wouldn’t matter in such a gathering or meeting but when not guided by the Spirit even 10 minutes can be very boring.

Have you heard of the impossible gospel? Do you know that in Mormon Doctrine once you have repented you will live a perfect life, free of sin, not committing a single act of sin anymore? Well I guess if you are still sinning you haven’t repented. Can I also tell you about the false prophecies of Joseph Smith? Or his 34 wives, consisting of teens, mother daughter pairs and sisters? Burning in the bosom? Well lemme tell you about the Canadian copyright episode, where Joseph smith had a feeling from god to go Canada and get the BOM published, but it never happened? If families are supposed to live forever how does a couple sealed to their parent live with their kids, if they are to have their own planet? Anachronisms? I mean there were no horses or chariots in the America’s, but the BOM tells us there were. What about the plates? No one saw them except for Joseph Smith. What about contradictions between the KJV and the BOM. And the Joseph Smith translation? If he was a false prophet how was he qualified to change Gods word?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also believe in the Divinity of Christ. That shouldn't be an issue. 2 Philippians 5-11: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
