Never mix money and friendship . 98% of the time you never get it back. Specially if they are close friends.
@asafaust6774

Make sure you are not sacrificing money that you may not get back. When people hide from you, and don't bother to explain why they cannot pay you back, they are actually hurting themselves. There is a good chance that they will need help again. Burning your bridges is always a bad thing to do.

same about the pregnancy, my mom was pregnant with my lil sis I didn't even know about it the whole time. all I could remember was seeing a new baby when i got back home, like where did that come from made me feel babies were bought. (PS I'm Nigerian and this was decades ago).

Veronica you are right, it is a continent. The point I was trying to make is that it is common for most people living in west africa not to tell their travelling dates. This may not apply to your country I can understand that. I am originally from Sierra Leone in West Africa. I also happen to have relatives in Guinea and Liberia. Growing up I noticed that my people were not telling their travel dates unless to people they know and trust.

@@blckprnz261 ohh I see. I know nothing about West Africa. Where I am from (some place in SADC) people advertise their traveling dates. Though i will not talk for everyone because even within the same country beliefs differ from place to place.

I can testify nigerian hairdressers, eyebrow shaping etc do need to learn customer care, most times they will not listen to whst the customer requested they just do whstever nd if open your mouth they become aggresive. I witnessed it when zi accompanied my cousin who lives in UK. I advised her to source out better saloons those who value their customers.

So true, girl. I’m a Naija girl, living in the Diaspora. My mother used to tell me that you DO NOT lend money to a friend. Just tell him/her no, the first and second time, and there won’t be a third time. They will call you stingy behind your back but you will earn their friendship and respect. In the other hand, if they ask for 100 and you give them 20, don’t ask for payback. Send them to look elsewhere, then you keep the friendship, and they will never ask next time. You keep that relationship also. So be smart!

I like your video. But one vital point most of you Vloggers in this niche fail to pass to your audience is : Nigeria is like an entire continent with so much difference in lifestyle with respect to region, state, class.. e.t.c unlike most other large countries of the world with relatively minor difference. So while most of your opinions in this video may be valid for Lagos, they may not be for other regions or category of Nigerians.

You have good sensibilities with great insights when you reflect on life in Lagos. You give really rational explanations of Nigerian life in general. I haven't been back for years but I can relate. Your explanations are as good as reviews. You are reliable for this. I always really enjoy listening. By the way, I loved the story about your mum telling you about her travelling at the last minute - as she's reading you a bed time story :-D. I hope you will 'review' a variety of Nigerian things: culture, fashion, food, tradition and travel within Nigeria? Interesting channel.

Thanks for sharing, you’re quite right. Especially with the pregnancy stuff, in UK people are generally really open about their pregnancy, but you can’t really be like that in Nigeria. Also with employees asking for money coming up with various sob stories...🤔 but my experience was that, it doesn’t necessarily have to be just those who work for you; it could be the security at the bank or even the main bank staff🤦🏾‍♀️ etc. That happened a lot in Lagos, when I visited the home town it wasn’t really like that I realised that people there generally had a bit more pride/self respect & won’t ask...🤔. Also if you have kids in school, you have to ensure you’re always, em how do I put it, “ gifting” the class teachers so they can go the “xtra mile for your kid”, 🤦🏾‍♀️

Grest points however why is it every blogger that returns to lagos has to make it my experience returning to Nigeria, while lagos for sure is in Nigerian I've noticed there is a lot of generalization . What is applicable in lagos may be different in the other 35 states. Having said that most of the items are applicable nationwide however it would be good to indicate where you are experiencing stuff cos other people are looking to relocate.

when you said GCSS, I think you meant GCSE. It's an English qualification. In the UK we do our GCSEs when we are 15/16 and do them in about 8 or 9 subjects. The grades are 9-1, 9 being an A** and 1 being a fail. After that you do A-levels, which is a whole different story

Wrong advice. How could you condemn someone you don't know? Someone you haven't met in such a wicked manner? It's not every Nigerian that is into fraud/scam. Nigerians are naturally secretive about certain things not everything though. Sometimes they try to protect you from getting hurt by withholding certain things from you. Sometimes it could be that they don't know how you will react if you get to know certain things about them which may not be bad actually. My Nigeria friend told me that when he was 6years old that he asked his parents how do women give birth? Where the child is coming from? They did not tell him. They refused to share the information with him. That does not mean that they don't love him. Do not forget that when you point one finger at someone the other fingers will be pointing back at you. Stop making foreigners see your country men and women as bad people just because of the sins of a few. There are bad people everywhere. Every country have the good, the bad and the ugly.

Some of the things are not applicable to all Nigerians. Nigeria is multicultural country and it differs from one tribe to another

Lmao Americans moving to Nigeria is definitely a different story to British people moving to Nigeria. The British tend to adapt better. Anyway, all these things are rather trivial

I don't get the first parts of this video at all. I don't get not telling people you're traveling - at least not close family. I REALLY don't get not telling people you're pregnant. I mean what do you tell people when you're belly is huge? It's a temporary tumor?

All I can say is Really??? Am from South Africa and the things she mentioned about pregnancy and engagement is simply to keep it on the down low,to prevent the evil eye. Why paint such a negative image of Nigeria. Not impressed.

It's not really true, it depends on the family or villages you 're from. If they 're juju/muti lovers then you have to keep your stuffs low with you. Not where I come from...we have so much cultures over here in Nigeria and I don't like it when one makes it look as if we Nigerians acts the same way. Westerners with theirs, same as eastern and northern part of Nigeria.

She's not painting a negative image. she's just sharing her experience and telling you how it is! I've lived in Nigeria for half my life and in a good position to confirm all that she has shared in her video! Even my sister didn't tell me or our mum she was pregnant until a day after she delivered and I don't believe I'm evil 😀. I've got kids, so it couldn't be jealousy either! Very secretive lot but they get upset if you don't tell them what is going on with you.

sometimes I'm surprised by a lot of Naijamericans... like didn't yall parents tell ya'll anything?? Of course, people (aunty, mom, big sister, house girl, neighbor, big cousin, family matriarch, random distant family) are converging on you doing make-up or feeding you or clothing you or sending you here... or there. Like literally, that is what makes you Nigerian and what Nigerian families do lmao!
