Had this on cask..a decent mild indeed. In the 19th century milds were between 5 & 7% then all changed to the lower ABV after WWI. Plenty of tasty milds still being brewed regularly up north, Lees, Holts, Hydes, Taylor's, Moorehouse, Rudgate etc all cask. The beer i was weened on and still drink today...raise a glass to a Pint of Mild👍🍺👏👏

Absolutely, I am with you on that one, I love a good mild. It is so underrated. You just can't get Mild in the South or in Scotland. The closest is Greene Kings XXX Mild and that's always sold out. This in the keg is a nice one and it will be part of a session next weekend as I have ordered another 2 kegs for next week. We are very similar in our tastes Dave, we like the northern traditional ales that are some of the best beers you can get. Cheers Dave 👍🏻🍻🙂

I've just finished a box of these, as the mini kegs weren't available when I ordered. However, they're now available, and I will now order the mini kegs. If these are better than the bottle, then it should be very good. Greene King did produce an XX Mild, but it sold out, and there are no dates for future production. I think both Mild, and Bitter seem to have an image problem - they're not trendy, and 'old fashioned, old man's drink' - which is rubbish really. And not helped by the over saturation of all kinds of IPAs which lots of drinkers/ reviewers seem to be in thrall to.

@@Andy_ATB Yeah, you should enjoy this mild in the mini keg, it is a better product before the the pasteurisation process. Yeah, milds and bitters are treated like drinks of the past. Both of these types of ales are some of the best ales you can get and have plenty of room to be "modernised", to suit younger tastes. The problem is that most trends start down south in London and they didn't have the same affiliation with milds and bitters as other areas in the north. So, down south they jumped on the IPA trend in a big way and can't see past these types of beers in regards to milds, bitters, and brown ales. I hope this trend will change, but I think we will have to suffer the new trend of crap and nitro stouts first! 🍻🙂

Adnams ales just taste of artificial flavourings to me.
@thebarmenreviews2 ай бұрын
@@JoeyMills-y3v I agree some do taste like artificial flavours have been added to certain beers I've had in the past. I have always found the bottle beers lacking. The only one that seems to be available in cask down south is bloody Ghost Ship and even on cask it doesn't taste that good. Their darker beers are better than their lighter offerings and I have enjoyed them on the mini keg. But I do have a keg of Ghost Ship to come, so there is potential to have a bad one! Cheers 🍻🙂

@thebarmen5640 they've been struggling financially for years. It's impossible to make the highest quality beer & survive economically in the UK, customers are not willing to pay the necessary premium. Look at Mordue & Elland, made champion beers vastly superior to anything else on the market, but still went under.

That's true and I agree, a lot of breweries are struggling financially. But how can they compete with the prices of the Macro Lagers in the pubs and in the supermarkets. People won't pay the price for a decent ale as long as they can get a pint of piss cheaper. The margins are too tight and the traditional ale breweries are struggling big time. The only way I see it getting any better is if the independent pubs join forces to buy in bulk and the breweries start supplying nationwide, instead of regionally. If not, then we watch more pubs closing and more breweries going to the wall. 🫤
