For we must all appear before “the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10) We will be judged for every deed we do whether is be good or bad. This isn’t something to worry about even if our bad deeds out weigh our good. Because none are good before God, all have sinned against Him and cursed His name, but He in His tender loving mercy hath given us His Son as our ransom. When Jesus was dying all of Gods wrath and judgement was poured out onto Him even though He was sinless. He was sacrificed and tortured on our behalf though we are sinful and carnal. Then again, Ebert panned The Thing so maybe Eagle Eye is better than we can possibly conceive. A totality of triumph, an ascension into the creative Valinor. The opening of new artistic vistas, peering towards the horizon of future possibilities. Punches through the stratosphere of past greatness. Four stars.
@stephengrigg5988
@stephengrigg5988 2 жыл бұрын
@@aarondavis8943 he really panned the thing? I guess that shouldn't surprise me. I think he's the best critic of all time and he's actually the person that got me interested in movies growing up, but he had a very specific taste. I guess I'd call it old school, so I assume he hated the violence, thought the characters weren't likable and probably called it "pointless".
@radioactivehalfrhyme
@radioactivehalfrhyme 2 жыл бұрын
@@stephengrigg5988 This thread’s overstated things a little. Ebert gave Eagle Eye 2/4 and The Thing 2.5/4. He thought The Thing was technically impressive, but he thought the gross-out horror came at the expense of an engaging story or characters, and he said Alien had already done the same material better. He loved Halloween, though, so go figure.

I forgot everything about this movie EXCEPT the band instructor vaguely reminding the saxophones to "watch out for those quarter notes", i.e., the absolute most basic note in all of music. I remember watching a shit ton of random horror movies on vudu at a friend's house for a period of time when we were hanging out in 2010 or so. They had one of those rich white suburban family basements, complete with projector theater. I don't remember all of them, but The Others was my favorite and surprised me at how incredibly high quality it was, because the usual was stuff like Case 39 and Silent Hill. Not terrible, but not good either. Good times.

A much better version of this premise was done by the show "Person of Interest", that involves an advanced computer that has access to NSA surveillance to predict when crimes are about to happen. The difference is, in that show the computer is restricted to only provide information to other character that they can act on, it cannot do everything itself.
