I watched a lot of your vacation stories on Instagram and your son sounds indistinguishable from native English speakers. And I completely agree with Kayla, raising kids bilingual doesn’t have adverse effects. I witnessed my best friend’s daughter being raised bilingual with Chinese and English. She’s now 5 and chats up a storm. She nearly always speakers Chinese to her mother and grandmother and Chinese friends and English to her father and the rest of us. If I had a kid, I’d raise them the exact same. Like I said at the beginning you’re doing a great job! Great interview!

Nice Video. I listened to a young woman who was German and her husband was from Argentina. She only spoke to her daughter in German and he only spoke to her in Spanish. However, when the parents were together they only spoke in English. The little girl grew up speaking all three languages perfectly.

Hi Anna, I had subscribed your channel since you are so beautiful. As in the beginning, I thought you should be a native English speaker. But in the following videos, I know that you are also a English learner. I go through your videos to grap the vocabularies for IELTS exam. Since I want to go aboard to Canada or New Zealand for an IT related work. Thanks pretty much for your lessons, beauty. I've learnt a lot from your videos and your voice is so natural and lovely to hear. Looking forward for your new videos.

I have a speech impediment and I'm bilingual but I'm scared to speak Spanish in public most of the time. I like writing and singing in spanish and that goes well. But when speaking I have a hard time forming sentences. I don't get to talk much in spanish. I can translate writing and some speech.

My niece's 4 y.o. Her parents are Russian and American. Mother (Russian) speaks Russian to the kid all the time. But she is the only person who speaks Russian to my niece. They live in the US. My niece can understand everything in Russian, but can't say a word. I speak to her in Russian and she replies in English. Idk how to change this.

I actually disagree with her about the magic number of learning a language and sounding native is between 0 and 5, research has shown that the so-called magic number is actually between 0 and 12 years old. The research claims that if you learn a second or third language after the age of 11 or twelve that you are not going to sound as native. The research again does not take into account different factors, e.g motivation, listening, etc, and still has not been updated. They have been individuals who have managed to learn a language after the so-called age of learning and still sound incredible native, search on youtube and you be able to find it. There is a reason why kids pick up languages quicker and it is not just that they are younger. Research has shown that kids listen and absorb speech using their ears from all those around them before they even utter a word, and when they do speak they don't even care if they make mistakes. Adults on the other hand and even kids after the age of twelve who are learning a new language learn by using their eyes. They also become self-conscious about making mistakes so they don't speak as much and when you don't speak you actually don't become better as opposed to kids who don't care. Also, for those over the age of twelve you have to factor in their social or educational activities and time they are willing to put in to learn that new language as some of the reasons for not learning languages as fast.

Hi! I know one person who started speaking Russian when he was in his late teens, closer to his 20ies. And another one started when he was around 30. They are both indistinguishable from native speakers now. They both first language is English. And Russian is assumed to be one of the hardest languages to learn. In both cases they just immersed in the culture and really put in a lot of time into practice.

I have no idea where the idea came from that teaching a bilingual child other languages will have an adverse effect, honestly what a load of crud. The only thing that your child might have with is not necessarily a bad thing is a slight accent or even a mixture of accents depending on the number of languages they have acquired but still very fluent.
