I have that exact gun in .22 and liked it so much I picked up one in .25! Easiest shooting air rifle I have ever shot. Almost feels like cheating....Line up the cross hairs and click pellet goes right down the middle. I will say you will see more accuracy with the single shot tray more so than any other brand of air gun out there when you are reaching out to longer ranges. Another note the rubber bands on the battery actually serve a purpose....They not only hold the battery in the stock but also help balance it which when you are trying for half inch groups at 100 yards even little things like that make a difference... Tuning a breeze!! change pulse width and done!! You do want to change the pulse rates equally so if you increase the high pulse rate 100 you need to do the same for mid and low.....So if you want to raise power on "High" you would raise the pulse width 100 on all three settings for the "High" power selection... BEST add on for the Red Wolf comes out of Greece....Heliboard made by a gentlemen there that gives you 12 power levels that can be selected as opposed to three and no need for the hand held tuner.....Gives you more power and more adjustability for right around 260.00 USD. Another home run Steve, Thanks!!

Steve, have followed you for a very very long time across many of the platforms. As always this is a marvelous review. Having said that however… Pushing 3K for an air gun Has to be out of the price range of 90% of the people watching. I can BS Some air guns through the door to my bride. You know like “ I won it in a poker game, or boy this was a steal at a garage sale, or yeah my buddy decided he would wanted to get rid of his air guns and I got this for a great price” But pushing that bad boy through the door I’d have to say I decided to rob a bank. It’s good to know that technology and refinement at that level is out there and available. And they must be selling because they making a lot of them.I can figure out how to change an O-ring… Most of the time. But if something goes sideways with those electronics , well that will be a $3000 boat oar for me. If it would shovel snow, and clean out our garage, and do a brake job on my truck I might buy it. But I guess for now I’ll have to stick with that Air Venturi Avenger for 300 bucks that will pile pellets hole on hole and still save me enough money for the mortgage payment. Anyway thanks again for all the amazing time , energy , effort and expertise you put into producing these videos I found this one as all the others meeting my bottom line for watch them .....They are entertaining and informative. Think I’ll go break out my HW 30 and have a little old school spring or fun

This has become one of my favorite airgun video channels. As an avid air gun hunter of small game, I had come to believe the philosophy of .177 for feathers and .22+ for fire. This video has me rethinking about the limitations of .177. Also has me calculating how many meals of Top Ramen it will take to set aside the funds for this Daystate.

Been liking your videos, so much information. Thanks I own an old Daystate Airwolf, before the MCT, it was a 0.177 but the previous owner changed it to an 0.22. I got it to shoot Field Target, but it seemed to get faster each shot and was inaccurate because of the increasing speed. So I spent the time running it over the chronograph. Fulled it to 190 Bar. (recommended) Connected a accurate pressure gauge to it and recorded the shot count and air pressure. Much to my surprise after doing 204 shots I found the sweet spot start at shot 124 and at 130 Bar. It went for 60 shots from 882 ft/sec low to 890 ft/sec highest, than dropped off, using JSB 16 gr. Great! Then I tested each reducing power levels, which it has 15. But it could only shot down to minus 4 power levels, as the pellet wouldn't leave the barrel at the lower ten levels. So I used to shoot FT at minus 2 power levels at 770 ft/sec and get 90 shots and only had to full the air tank to 100 Bar. Never had to take a dive tank with me to the comps, bonus. This all eventuated because it is using the 0.177 electronics and settings and a 0.22 barrel. I don't think the previous owner ever found the sweet spot and new it had such a low extreme spread of 8 Ft/sec. But now I want to raise the power and try some heavier pellets or slugs (21 gr). Also make use of the 15 Power settings. Would you know if the Daystate electronic programmer would work on the older models? I got hold of Daystate years ago to see what I could do, but they were not interested in helping. Any ideas what to do?
@AEAC

@@AEAC Hi Steve, After making this comment last night, I decided to email Daystate, as it has been a number of years since I emailed them about my gun and the programmer didn't exist then. I have owned this gun for over ten years, one of the first Airwolfs and is very accurate. Anyway, they got back to me virtually straight away, which was great and said the programmer would work with my Airwolf, but needed a trained person to use it. Now I need either to see if the only importer of Daystate in New Zealand will get one in or import one in myself from AOA and figure it out. There is no service agent here and I doubt that no one has a programmer here in New Zealand too. Be great if it could be just hired, as once set up probably never use it again. Thanks, Rob.

A smaller projectile traveling faster will do more damage than a heavier one moving slower. Roy Weatherby proved that with his 270 ultra high velocity rounds. The military copied his design and introduced the 556 round, which if you take a “forced perspective “ photo of the two, you’ll see. You can look it up. I’m not surprised that a .177 pellet traveling faster than a .22 or .30 will do more damage. Great video!! Love it.

hehe, airgun stuff doesn't live by the same rules as those rounds you mention... I've been able to show that here in frequent 50 yard gel testing. With airguns, surface area is better than speed when it comes to gel shock/damage. Hope that helps, Steve

I greatly prefer the beautifully figured walnut stock that Daystate offers rather than the the flashy laminate. Programming appears to be an internal feature they then made available to the public as an afterthought. It's really clunky. You should just be able to tell the gun what speed you require, and the gun should be able to figure out those internal settings with a few test shots. The gun should optimize each shot not just fit to a curve with 3 points. Once you know the weight of your pellet you have a power level and that would be useful for competitions or ranges that have limits. It would make sense to name the power level after you ammo rather than high/med/low. They should eliminate the UI on the gun and move to your phone via Bluetooth, then you would need one power setting on the gun and you can store however many you want on your phone. They should charge the battery via a standard (i.e. Qi) wireless charge so you don't need to break a seal, and fiddle with fragile wires and pins to charge the gun (however rare). Make the charger an optional accessory to reduce the number of those that end up in the landfill. They should also eliminate the fiddling to take the gun apart for cleaning or whatever (terminate the battery in the handle, then have some electro-mechnical contact to the board). The new magazine doesn't have anti-double load which is a feature that I have really come to love with use on my gun. They really should ship two magazines with the gun. It's very useful in practice, and it doesn't makes sense to nickle and dime (at the tune of $99 or whatever the new ones are) at this price range. The technology was innovative 18 years ago but since then it's been minor tweaks. It shows. Daystate should mold the electronics into a platform, make that an option on all their guns, and sell upgrades for the platform forever. FX is on the 3rd generation of barrel designs for Impact, and eventually they will figure out something that works, right? :-) Instead of $3k or whatever for the Safari, it's $1k or whatever for a new GCU, longer barrel etc. Captive audience and increased sales due to marginal lower costs. The 5 year warranty is awesome, btw, and very smart on their part. My only interest in airguns is an effective pesting tool, and for that a short, light-weight, accurate and quiet bullpup in .22 with semi-auto is what it would take for me to consider upgrading. I would love to own a Daystate airgun at some point (see above), and it looks like the Delta Wolf is a half a step in the right direction.

great video , i really like your attention to detail with every review you do, i must say though that the OEM tune on the .177 HP Redwolf seem to be vastly better than what i got with my .25 FAC Redwolf ,mine was a 50fps spread over 63 shots, hence why i invested in a hellliboard and got that down to 19fps spread over 83 shots @ 928fps

I think those old daystate mags might perform better in 0.177, along with at low power. That little hook that smacks the probe is the same no matter what but with the thinner 0.177 probe there would be less 'overlap' and it might just miss it altogether? In 0.22 the old mag was so junk I bought aftermarket CARM mags which the new daystates are very similar to and never looked back. Anyway the new mags are great and most welcome 🎉 Great vlog 👌

If your shooting field is a little swampy, it would be a great test of the gun's waterproofness. Forego the bench and just shoot in the prone position😝😝😂😂. Too expensieve, in Holland it cost 2895 euro and the Delta Wolf cost 3500 euro, for that money you can buy a FX impact and a Rti priest. The mechanical one cost about 2200 and does 70 foot pound in 25, still expensieve butt closer to the impact Also you have to spen money on the programmer about 500 in total euro so that sucks. I also think it is ugly, the area above the trigger looks really fat.
