You forget that the cutlass can not only carry the same ammount of ground troops, it also has the room to carry a cyclone comfortably as well. As far as dropship goes, the hoplite seems more like a special forces dropship that will land in relative stealth and subtelty and orbit around while the troops do their job. Some folks were under the illusiion that it would be a mini valk it definatly isnt.

I love the look of the vanguard series. They are my favorite. They just seem to have so many negatives

I strongly disagree. The Hoplite and Warden are both bad ships in my book so your statement is true for them. However I really do think the Harbinger and Sentinel are both exelent ships. Yes the Sentinel lacks the ewar gameplay atm but if its there, its great. Other than that the overall package you get is great from both ships. Firepower is good, maneuverbility is good for its size, it has all amenities you need for long journeys, it can take a beating and you can multi crew it with your friends. Thats where the Sentinel will shine. One pilot one gunner and one for the ewar stuff. The only thing those ships miss is cargo but a dedicated combat ship doesnt need cargo anyway. So to me Harbinger and Sentinel are top notch ships that offer a lot for its price. And as long as you dont try to make either ship a dogfighter you are set for a lot of fun. Its combat role will be attacking other medium to large ships, not dogfighting. That being said: equip a size 5 hardpoint and you will have great fun vs slow moving or big targets.

I am not seeing any negatives since the 3.10 release. I find I fly my Warden more than my Sabre, loaner Hornet, Hornet Ghost, Eclipse and in game purchased Hawk combined. So much so that I am CCUing the Sabre.

My takes on noted cons: Slow max speed, but it is not for racing or maneuvers, just get troops in and out. Bespoke fixed weapons, limiting but size five deadliness. No ejection or bed, but heavy shields and armor and sleep when dead. Fewer troops, or just the right number and more weapon racks than cutlass. No grounds support, so fly by, turn it round, point nose at enemy, boom. One egress point, but they are big and expensive. High price, but get what you pay for. Just some opinions, all is subjective.

would love to see a 3.10 or 3.11 comparison guide between all the vanguard line. I've had my eye on the Vanguard Warden as my daily driver for awhile and am saving up my aUEC to get it, each seems to have their own pros / cons and it would be great to get your thoughts and opinions between each of them. thank you for yet another great video :)

this ship excels in RP PVP/PvE combat mechanics. It perfect for small special operations tactics and provides CAS on top of it. Perfectly balanced for military operations or piracy

Crown. I'm a dropship pilot for my Org and they consistently hate the Hoplite. The ramp is the real dealbreaker. My Prowler and Valk are things my marines get behind. I miss the old Hoplite a bunch, ramp was way better.

@@LordZetera00 For forward combat operations the hoplite is not ideal to get troops in. I've used it for insert/extract operations for our tip of the spear sections and it was perfect. Fits a team plus a turret gunner and was used as CAS during the extract not to mention it can take a real beating from any ship with lesser size. The prowler is a beast and a good upgrade but i just prefer the old girl

I have a Harbinger. I love it so much. But I definitely think the Hoplite sacrifices more than it gains when compared. However, since this series is modular, paired with the extra armor the hoplite has, down the road it might be a smart move to buy a hoplite and swap the internal bay for a harbinger or warden bay.

Prowler can go TWO fixed size 5s and 2 size 3s, coupled with the Sukorans, better mobility, huge tank and side doors it makes a tonne more sense as a dropship

You haven't had a Origin 300 to review so the "Hdmi" description caught me by surprise. Who did you pay for the great timing for the glowing shot at about 2:40? Very nice low level flying during the comparisons (5:33). I hadn't noticed that in you other videos. I was looking more at the information. I wonder if the variants will get a aUEC price markup?

I’ve loved your videos for the longest time. Happy to see you’re getting to this ship. I have one general question. Why wouldn’t you just always use the CCF line of laser repeaters? They just seem like they’re the all around best choice for everything? I’m a fan of ballistic guns myself but my friends won’t get off my back about “b-but muh limited ammo.” “Muh smaller range” and I’m hoping there’s some retort you can give me.

I use CF series probably 80% of the time. But ballistic weapons are stealthy, do damage to the hull through shields, and don't overheat as much. So if any of those things are needed you may need to pull out ballistics. But even if ballistics have a better TTK in some cases. Energy weapons are so much more practical for longevity with the infinite ammo.

Hoplite's most unique feature is the heavy weapon racks, I'm pretty sure it's the only ship with the capability to house heavy weapons.

My guess would be that in the future we will have jet packs or parachutes and that will be the type of ship to get in and drop from altitude and fight their way back home.

Honestly, if you want to pledge for an aegis dropship, go for the redeemer over the hoplite. It'll have the same amount of troop seats, cargo space, living quarters and several turrets with great coverage of the ground to protect the troops you're delivering.

The ultimative "Don't Buy" argument for me is , there is no way to get a single weapon lead indicator with the available weapons.

Not seeing this as an issue, though both the nose guns and size 5 weapons need to be fleshed out. Running with the CF-557 and the GVSR, the pips are close enough, once the GVSR are in range, to not make much difference. That is presuming the target survives to GVSR range.

Small thing, but it also seems to be a rather egregious design flaw for a drop ship to have only one entrance. What if there's a crash and the ramp is blocked? Guess everyone inside will be stuck until an enemy patrol comes and blows them up. And yes, the Cutty red IS the best dropship XD medical beds beat anything else.

I wouldn't even consider the Hoplite a dropship. It's a boarding craft. A good boarding craft. But not a dropship. It's got no VTOL so it can't stay on station long in a gravity well, no downward or side mounted turrets to provide fire support for its ground troops while loitering, bad ingress/egress. It's for taking stations and cap ships.

This model of vanguard is unfortunately not as good as the other drop ships as you said. I'd either choose the valkyrie for the gun cover or the Prowler for stealth. About the Red.... Man I wanted to use the Cutty Red for a dropship, but the single size 2 shield and wings that fly off with weapons make me sad.

The EM on erkul should be accurate. Pay attention to the toggles at the bottom right corner. By default while firing, manuvering, etc. And I asked about IR but its cannot be as easily calculated. Its not as simple as it EM.

It does... the harb has 15% vs 10% energy reduction, and a 5% vs 2% physical dmg reduction. Hull HP is not "Armor". Although I think id rather have the extra 7,000 hull HP 😆

Valkyrie comes in at 621,046 kg not 70k, it is the heaviest, not the lightest on the list ;-)

Despite being only a few meters longer than a C-130 (70 ton MTOW) and being made 900 years in the future, the warden series weighs almost as much as a C-17 Globemaster (53m and 265 ton MTOW). I'm guessing they will refine a lot of these details down the track? /shrug

Right now? Yes, It's the least appealing dropship. Down the line? It has some pros to consider. 1) It's one of the smallest combat ready drop ships. You can fit it in a Javelin hangar and yes... Even in an Idris. Something you can't do with a Valk, Prowler, and even a Cuttie... Speaking of which. 2) The Cuttie black is not really a drop ship. It is right now but consider that it doesn't have the seats with racks to make sure the troops are safe even during dangerous maneuvers. If the Cuttie has to do an evasive maneuver, troops are not safe and will get injured as a result. Can you use it to transport troops? Yes. Is it a dropship? No. Right now you can use it as such, but when gravity and improved forced reactions are further developed, those tiny chairs are not going to be good enough for drops in atmosphere and in combat situations. But I agree, currently the Hoplite is not really appealing. But I think it will be the go to dropship to use inside capital ships.

Agreed 100% with what you said. Except maybe falling out of the cuttys seats. Not sure that gamplay is in our near future. I always review ship with a Right Now point of view.

@@SubliminaLstv We will see but I think it will. Consider tha a loss of cabin pressure is most likely to suck people out of a room if the ships has its hull open in combat. I doubt the cuttie seats are going to keep you safe from getting sucked out. While the special dropship seats will. I do not believe these special seats are just for show. At lower attitude, the Cuttie could be a relatively safe option as long as you don't flop the ship upside down. Above 10.000 feet or in space however, any damage to the hull inside a pressurized room could prove deadly if you're not properly secured to the seat. Time will tell, but I do not believe these seats are just for show. The cuttie will remain an option to transport troops but the seats will be a limitation in some form in what I can do while keeping the troops safe. But that's just me.
