Aerosmith have announced that they are to retire from touring due to Steven Tyler's vocal injury. It means that their rescheduled Farewell Tour will not be happening and that there will be no more live shows. I've seen them many times and I adore their music, but this is not the end; their musical legacy continues.

I've seen over 50 Aerosmith shows. Last in Philly for Peace Out, we knew immediately something was off with Steven (rumor has it was strep throat). We'd seen them many times recently for Deuces are Wild, and he was on point then. I feel like I've spent my whole life following Aerosmith, from a teenager until now, when I'm 60. No way Steven is disciplined enough, or lame enough, to lip synch a show. Bravo Aerosmith.

Stephen Tyler also has chronic back issues. He was playing in my area and was in a store for medical appliances purchasing a back brace. This was at least 10 years ago. Plus absolutely singing for 50 years has got to do a number on your voice no matter what vocal exercises you do. Stephen has such a unique voice, such range, and we are lucky we have many great recordings of them on tour to watch. Beautiful tribute Justin and I always love stories of when you meet your hero’s and they actually live up to being kind people. ❤

Agree about Nine Lives - a real rocker in my book after the return with Permanent Vacation. Pump had a lot of hits but 9 Lives always seemed more like earlier Aerosmith to me. Seen them 7-8 times over the decades. Will always be my favorite band. But it was cool to watch this because I was at that show at the Fox ! Someone said Tyler was their at the time, and I thought, no way. But there he was. Very cool!!

It's a real mourning feeling. Even though he's not gone, a great part of our lives just died. Seeing Aerosmith live wasn't just a concert to blow off some steam from the real world stress, it was an actual experience that I'm SO THANKFUL to have had 6 times in my life. They never, EVER, let me down live. They have ALWAYS nailed it. Specially Mr. Steven Tyler. He's a mad powerhouse, and if you got to see him do his magic front row, on the barricade, you KNOW what I'm talking about. He was always different from the others and it's such a shame they had to call it quits like that. Aerosmith deserved a big send off, at a packed stadium in Boston, and go off with a bang for one last standing ovation. But life's not fair. Thank you Aerosmith for the AMAZING gigs! Thank you for records like rocks, toys, draw the line (my favorite!), pump, get a grip, nine lives, honkin' on bobo (this record sounds BRILLIANT!)... Thanks for rocking hard and for REAL for as long as you could!

It was summer camp 1983 or 84 when my friend smuggled his cassette player to me, after 'lights out', which contained his copy of Toys In The Attic. I listened through the headphones - in the darkness (HA!) - and was forever changed. Bought "Live..Bootleg" on LP later that summer, played it, studied the artwork and liner notes until it fell apart. They had been 'broken-up' at the time but I read everything I could find about them and devoured their entire catalog up to that point. Fast forward to late 1985 when I was browsing the Aerosmith section at the record store only to find a brand new album - a copy of 'Done with Mirrors'. What's this??!, I thought? The album cover was all printed backwards but I quickly figured out it was an Aerosmith album I'd never seen before. I spent the rest of my life savings (I was was 15 at the time) on it and brought it home. It felt like finding gold or unknown treasure. Early that next year -Mar 16, 1986- I was beyond elated when I attended my very first parent-free-non-chaperoned concert in Springfield, Massachusetts to see the mighty, reformed Aerosmith. It's a show forever etched in my memory. I've met all of them, apart from Steven Tyler over the years since, and have seen them countless times since that first show. I was hoping to see them one last time.... but I am happy to see what I have seen and heard what I've heard. Thank you boys.

I agree that Aerosmith's words & heart were classy. I've been a fan since I was a kid. Steven Tyler is a showman of great renown, just like Mercury. His pipes though! So sad to lose such a gift or at least have them so damaged as to not be able to handle the rigors of touring. To go from those heights, to...this, must be so hard for him. I'm sure it's of little consolation to him but at least he had SO MANY years of glory. He's earned his place & has nothing to prove. He can retire but I suspect he's not ready to let go of that part of his life yet. It's perfectly understandable. Well done as always Justin!

I wasn't going to be too far from the front edge of the stage. Bad sightlines, but I was going to be in the building, at least. Been a bummer of a summer concert-wise for me. Heart postponed before my show date, The Guess Who postponed because of Bachman's lawsuit against the current lineup, and now Aerosmith retires (also got gypped out of Night Ranger last year; they were touring with Bret Michaels, and when he had to reschedule a few dates - including mine - they weren't available for the new date). The very first album that I ever got was "Rocks", the first concert that I have saw was Aerosmith on the Live! Bootleg Tour, the last concert that I saw was Aerosmith at UBS in Elmont, 9/9/23. It's been a good run.

I'm a fan of their 70s era as well. They were certainly part of the soundtrack of my 70s childhood and beyond. So glad I saw them on the Just Push Play tour in 2001. The Cult were the openers. Fantastic concert shortly after 9/11 here in the States. No More No More, Aerosmith. Tis a shame. Farewell gents!

A family friend bought me Aerosmith "pump" on cassette when I was going into high school. To say I knew what I was listening to hit me later on in retrospect. I'd say that is when I was going on to music being my true love. Ty Mr. Hawkins for being there "I believe in a thing called love" helped me get through my 20's. And Today.

Pump is an incredible album. Only 2nd to Toys In The Attic for me. From start to finish it's so diverse. They experimented with so many different instruments on Pump. What It Takes was the first time they recorded a country music type song. Most creative & diverse rock band ever.

@@sameold5050 I had Toys in the Attic too. I think my sister handed it down to me. On another note, The Darkness was an edgy band when they came out. Like someone commented, we still have them around.

I started listening to Aerosmith in 1983 and loved Done with Mirrors in 1985 and 1987 permanent vacation was released and by 1988 I went to see Aerosmith for the first time at Maple leaf gardens and loved how they shot into the sky like a shooting star to fame and Think the pump album was truly a masterpiece and I saw that tour twice and get a grip was another great album and Nine lives was very hard rock and straight forward in your face and seems like a well polished done with mirrors albumand a hard rocking album and I was gonna see that tour and had tickets but the show was canceled as Steven I think fell off the stage and was hurt and they never did a make up date. Music from another dimension was one album I could never get into as it seemed kinda odd. But who cares as I love Aerosmith and will miss them.

Did you ever watch their Tokyo 2002? The concert is available for viewing, and I consider it one of the best concerts I have “seen” online. They are on it for every song, and Steven gives the most gorgeous performances of “What it Takes” I have ever seen him do, and it might just be the encore, which makes it doubly amazing. Anyway, great band and great legacy.

Myself, and now my neighbors are enjoying a marathon of Aerosmith today. Every time I went to one of their concerts it was life affirming and energizing. I remember when Steven implored a couple of rowdies to stop trying to start a fight. They listened, they stopped, and we all cheered Steven and the subdued rowdies after they got to take their own bow, which Steven prompted them to do. Pure bliss! Thank you for your video. The first Aerosmith album I got was in 1997, when I was 14 years old. Then I went to their 1970's albums and I just fell in love. Aerosmith is amazing, over 50 years with the same 5 guys (we don't talk about the early 80's hehe), it was just meant to be. Thank you Aerosmith!

We love you Aerosmith! I saw them in the 70s and they were the first concert in Nashville after 9/11 on 9/19 that I attended. They almost cancelled but said, "If we cancel, they win!" So the show went on but that's when Security changed forever! Steven donning the U.S. flag leather pants gave us all the boost we needed!!! Rock On and Dream On! 🤘

I was devastated when I heard the news the other day. I had tix to see them in December with my mom who has never had the pleasure. Luckily for me, I did get to see them a couple times in Vegas so I at least have those memories. Aerosmith is by far my favorite band and truly the only reason I started to give a damn about music at all. Not a musician, but a rabid enjoyer of the joy tracks like Back in the Saddle, One Way Street, and Dream On bring to my ears. I even have various live versions of so many of their songs. I think I am somewhere in the neighborhood of 90-100 Aerosmith songs in my main playlist. I haven't really "processed" the news yet. I think I am gonna go for a drive for an hour and just blast some tunes in celebration of the greatest rock band that ever was and ever will be!

For an even better treat, listen to their 70s albums. Get your Wings, Toys in the Attic and Rocks (plus the first album just titled Aerosmith) Steven sings a little different back then, deeper voice and the rock is heavier, but still melodic and catchy. I like their 90s and late 80s Era too, but the 70s Aerosmith is better Try the song Seasons of Wither. Almost as good as dream on, but was never released as a single for radio play. They perform it on their unplugged special too.

I'm from Massachusetts and Joe Perry was born in this town, which he doesn't like to reveal for some reason but I saw them in high school and they were not known then. They use to play at a place called Lakeview Ballroom. They became big and I never saw them since. I wish I had seen them in concert but didn't get the chance.
