@@Werthas I personally wouldn't buy any B550 board for 3900x, let alone a much more power hungry 5900x, as the 5000 series is not as efficient as the 3000. that being said, the ones they tested in this video were supposed to be the budget options. i use that term loosely as the MSI Bazooka is not exactly a budget board, it's part of the Tomahawk family which is some of the best boards they make. still the fact that some of these boards were able to handle a 3900x at all says alot, that means there more than good enough for the Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 3 3200G, 5600G, 5600X. i think the Ryzen 7 3700x, 3800x and 5800x might be a little too much for these boards. the MSI B550M PRO VDH WIFI is the one that impressed me the most, but the Asus Prime board getting hotter than the rest despite costing more doesn't surprise me that much. because they always tend to cost more, but it's people and tech reviewers are the one's that tend to overrate them alot. i had a couple Asus boards over the years, and never had too much trouble when i had a i7 3770k on a Asus Prime Z77. i didn't do much overclocking, but i rarely saw temperatures go above 70 degrees Celsius. maybe Asus was better in the past, but i had one on a Core 2 Duo way back in 2007 when i first got into PC, and it worked flawlessly. that said i do seem to have better luck with Gigabyte than MSI, i had a MSI board when i upgraded to the i5 6500 Skylake, and i had lots of problems with it. i got a Gigabyte board when i upgraded to first gen Ryzen, and now on my second Gigabyte board with Intel i5 11400.

Well, there's a lot of older PC builders who trust Asus blindly, because they remember the days when Asus was more closely correlated with quality and value (I know some of these people, they want Asus, and they don't care about reviews). Nowadays, Asus is just charging extra because they can get away with it, though that doesn't explain why some of their products have been so bad. Remember people, don't trust ANY of these brands. Always check reviews for your exact model before buying. They can put out great products at one point in time, then 6 months later they could be releasing some of the worst products (or both bad and good ones at exactly the same time). Some of these brands have been worse or better on average, but all of them have released either crappy products or over-priced products on multiple occasions.

@@syncmonism Yeah. I have an Asus TUF B450M-Pro Gaming, and I'd love to say that I bought it after watching Buildzoid's review where he gave it a grudging "OK, if you're using it for APU or 6-core, max", but in reality, I looked at the features I wanted and then went with a brand I recognized. AFTER buying it, I googled around a bit and realized Asus/TUF didn't mean much of anything any more. Which made me wish I'd gone with Gigabyte, which wasn't a good reaction neither. If you can't find a review from a trusted reviewer, don't buy the board. If Harbour Untox'ed and Gamer's Nexus don't have a review, but ReallyGoodReviewsInc have a glowing one, that's not a review - that's an advert. Don't fall for it.

Yeah, but those are "cheap" B550 boards. B550 Tomahawk, B550-A Pro, and some other more expensive boards seem to have hugely overkill of a VRM for current Ryzen CPUs - and that is an understatement! @Rippedyanu14 жыл бұрын
@@bonfingertip exactly, I went with the b550 tomahawk because I get the feeling the 4900x and 4950x are going to be monsters that will be more than enough for almost anything for the next 6-10 years if/when I need to upgrade a CPU. There's already a hard time justifying things like a 3990x because nothing right now exists software side to really utilize it. Not to mention the current threadripper Pro that is easily the best CPU in existence. It definitely feels like the current gen threadrippers were designed with rendering programs of the future in mind. Lord knows what the 4000 series threadrippers will be like, they're already mini server CPUs as it is. I have a 3900x and I don't think I'll need anything past that for at least 4-5 years so having a next gen option even if I don't get it anytime soon is wonderful. The 3900x is already amazing for engineering so a 4900x will be godly and ready to tackle whatever software side updates applications like CATIA, Autodesk or Solidworks have for years. Just as long as you've got the cooling ready for it lol.

@@Rippedyanu1 So I'm not alone in thinking that way :) I agree, 3900x and 3950x already seem robust and future-proof enough for their price, and I can only imagine what could be that more poverful to require that much VRM. I just hope the new Ryzen CPUs won't cost too much because of that.

I have a Gigabyte A520M DS3H with a homemade heatsink using the same VRM configuration as the B550M DS3H running a Ryzen 9 5950X. With PBO enabled Vcore drops to 1.14 volts because is unable to increase the current on benchmarks running at a lower Vcore with the MOSFETS at 93 celsius. Is not only the temperature of the MOSFETs is also important the ability to pump up Vcore voltage for maximal CPU performance. The ASROCK B550M Pro4 is the winner of all with 1.321 volts Vcore on the 3950x test.

I bought my new system a week ago. I'm not an expert on motherboards and i haven't changed my motherboard since 2011. I was only certain about getting an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X or XT (ended up with XT btw) and let the store builders pick a MoBo for me. They gave me the MSI Bazooka. As I don't use WiFi with my desktop at all. I'm pretty happy and thankful to that builders who didn't ripped me off with something else as I'm not running on any liquid cooling or a giant case at all.

What the hell is wrong with gigabyte? A doubled 5 phase being beaten out by ASRocks doubled 3 phase.. Is the heatsink that poor?
@tusux29494 жыл бұрын
Gigabyte's mosfets are trash. One went for "just good enough" with cheap-as-chips mosfets while the other did their job with proper engineering and got away with much less. I saw on an overclocking forum both the B550M Pro4 and Aorus M Pro are rated safe up to 125A on ambient, same as the Bazooka and Pro_VDH. Aorus Elite M is at 100A only. Considering the maxed out 3950X at 1.36V and 200W in the video pulls around 140-150A.... It is a little above their pay grade but nothing some good airflow can't fix - this is where a good heatsink comes into play. And Gigabyte decided to put plastics all around it ... Funny thing is B550M Mortar is rated at 200A, lol. Next video is gonna be interesting.

@Adithya R Lol no the fuck its not if your only going to list one number and not both it should be average temp. The size of temp spikes varies by hardware, their not maintained, its not an accurate running temp, the only reason we care about peak temps is for avoiding fatal errors and performance issues it may cause, unless you also cite wether or not the performance changed at the time of the peak that numbers only there as a sort of bonus tip, and if your only going to list one number it shouldnt be the one thats effectively just a fun fact

I am slightly disappointed in the results for the Gigabyte B550M Aorus Pro, as I have already ordered this board, & am expecting its delivery to me within this week, or the next. I enjoy watching Hardware Unboxed, but these days I am skeptical & distrustful of tech KZbinrs. Often is the case that they are *hoping to keep the review samples they are sent* . I have a 3700X also, so I will be curious to test temperatures of the Gigabyte B550M Aorus Pro in a controlled room temp of 21°C, and see how closely my own results line up with Hardware Unboxed's results.

But the best in the VRM stage design is the ASROCK B550M Pro4 because on 3950X test push 1.321 volts at 81 celsius no voltage drops versus the Bazooka only 1.201 volts at 68 celsius a voltage drop of 10%. A lower voltage is less current flow for the CPU cores lowering benchmark performance. We can say that the VRM power efficiency of ASROCK B550M Pro4 is very good being the winner of all.
