The first Dawn of War. The true original Warhammer 40k strategic game. What a story. What a vibes. So many nostalgic moments comes trough my mind and my veins. I was a kid/teen back then when it came out and i played it. It was that game that opened for me the door on the world of warhammer and everything connected to it. Now im 31 years old and still love this game and the memories that i have with it. Thank you for this video

Dawn of War wasn't the first 40k strategy game, there were a few of them in the 90's already. Dawn of War is the fourth 40k strategy game ever made, but it's the first real time 40k strategy game.

That Dawn of War trailer is 20 YEARS old and still holds up so damn well. The render quality is slightly dated, but the cinematography, editing and audio are rock solid. Dreadnought hosing down the hillside with assault cannon tracers is fucking insane.

@@phelanwolf6747 Not that Space Marines don't act like this in the lore, but it is a bit cringe. Astartes and auspex visors, plus quality bolters = 99% accuracy. Orks and trash guns = 1% accuracy. So let's charge them in melee to make things fair!

The only thing that has always bothered me about these trailers is it shows marines being badass, but also retarded. Charging uphill from a defended position with heavy weapons, having Dreds being knocked over by Gaunts, if Space Marines really did lose that many men in each conflict, they'd only have lasted a few decades let alone 10,000 years..

But they are retarded, even in the novels they actually die like that. Also in the official Pariah Nexus show a squad of Salamanders died in a crash with only one survivor, just like that. The show also takes place after the massacre partly shown in the 9th edition trailer. Spoiler the Ultra Marines are at the bad end of the massacre, no surprise after a suicide charge into a superior Necron firing line. In the table top Astartes are actually not that strong compared to the other factions, meaning the game is balanced.

Because they're the OGs. StarCraft started as a Warhammer 40 k game but during development, GW wanted too much control and they eventually cancelled the project. Blizzard had already put so much work in to it, so they decided to retool all game assets and make their own franchise. That's how StarCraft started.

So in fact Horus was a decent guy. He saw the faults about blindly following the emperor's will and all that stuff. How did he turn into a chaos warped lunatic? From the start of his video he seemed to me like the most reasonable character in all the franchise.

Because he has convinced himself what he's doing is for right reasons. He sees the imperium as weak and corrupt (which is true) but falsely sees himself as the one to fix it and was incapable of recognising his thoughts were being guided by chaos or that his rebellion was a large reason why the imperium became how it is. Many of the characters who fell to chaos did so thinking they were doing it for the right reasons and that they were following their own path, using chaos as a tool rather than the other way round.
