Brayshaw ended his own career by not protecting himself... and apparently he got a hit not long before the Maynard incident.
@dangledip11349 ай бұрын
Not to mention a history of concussions. I recon Brayshaw was already concussed during that match or before at some point because his awareness when Maynard was running directly at him was poor. He had a good 20 metres of separation between maynard when he first took possession of the ball and failed to take any evasive action. Feel sorry for the bloke but you've gotta keep your head up in football. Even if someone doesn't mean to you could get seriously hurt if you stop paying attention. And obviously Maynard's hit was an accident@@johndoe5061

No congratulations from me. The Clarko punishment was a total overreaction, but fits in with how woke the virtue signalling AFL has become. The c***sucker word wasn't used in a homophobic way and very few people think of that word in that way. The drug policy/code for illicit drugs that aren't performance enhancing has no teeth and clubs just sweep issues under the carpet. The AFL and the MFC have known for several years about Oliver's drug use along with poor behaviour that includes a poor attitude towards other people and vandalising cars. Nothing much was done and the AFL certainly didn't intervene. The AFL did decide to intervene when Tarryn Thomas was exposed for sending nasty text messages to women. I have to question if that is any worse than what Oliver has been doing. Mental health issues played a part in both, but the fallout is poles apart with North losing Thomas without any compensation and Oliver able to play without AFL interference. Next year another club picks an elite talent in Thomas up for next to nothing.

The media training is paying off. The fact she couldn't agree on simplifying rules and punishments is horrible. The fact someone goes for a swing should be an instant ban. Apply the same principle used for bumps around the action and not just intent or impact. Hewitt went to hurt Neil and just got lucky he hit his shoulder. The response on changes to the drug policy shows she doesn't believe highly paid athletes should be held to a higher standard that focuses on identifying issues sooner and fixing them. The game is funded by the fans and for the fans. We deserve more transparency.

I gave up on the AFL back in Demetrio's first year in charge when he started dictating to people how they should behave and started politically engineering the AFL approach. Politicising the AFL was a stupid idea then and Gil took it to an even higher level. The most tax payer subsidised business in Australian history uses our money to try to dictate what we as a community should believe and try to impose their woke ideology upon us. A political correct organisation that's genuinely believes they are superior and have an obligation to impose their beliefs on others. Andrew Dillon (still early days) appears to be more level headed than his two predessors both who lost the plot to egos so hopefully he can restore respect back into the AFL as an organisation by leaving the political arena and focus on footy. This AFL lady is just a political correct mouth and sends no message of substance other than the same old story about what they desire with no real plan. Her 4 step plan is to make the game better, improve technology, be more accessible and I can't even remember the 4th one such is her non substance focus but nothing mentioned about improving the fan experience. The reality is the AFL is so expert at talking the walk they forget to walk the talk. A classic example of their stupidity was the umpire dissent rules introduced so as not to discourage people to take up umpiring in a time of perceived umpire shortage. That stupidity ceased after one year just before they went from 3 to 4 umpires acknowledging they had umpires after all. Many of their problems could be solved by treating fans with respect instead of mugs. Their focus on TV as their first priority, themselves as second priority, sponsors third with fans a distant fourth priority shows what they really think of the grass roots. What representative on the Commission is there to represent the fans? Answer is none they want nothing to do with you the great unwashed, oh they want your money just not you. Screw the fans, much easier money in TV rights was the focus until covid and games played to empty stadiums proved the real value to footy was fans, the telecasts were a disaster to watch as we're matches without the fans roar. Since that realisation the AFL have talked the fan experience focus up but nothing has been delivered of substance.
