A quick tip: The reason you were getting grabbed by that last Dragunov was because he wasn't using a 1+3 or 2+4 grab. He was using a special 1+2 grab which can only be broken by pressing both 1 and 2 at the same time! Also if your opponent keeps spamming the same grab you can tell which kind is coming depending on which arm they lead with: A 1+3 grab leads with the left arm (same arm as 1) and 2+4 grab leads with the right arm (same arm as 2) and a 1+2 grab leads with both! I think they simplified the 1+3 and 2+4 to be either punch breaks it in this game but the 1+2 grabs still needs both to break them.

And that is strategy. Maturing is realizing that agreeing with OP but attempting to make it sound like a different point is simply remedial. That initial demonstration at the start of the video is honestly more valuable than a lot of the down forward 2 just frame ten frame punish combo showcase gibberish lessons that a lot of the Tekken community throw out. I think there’s almost an element of gatekeeping in the Tekken community. Watching you go from genuinely awful to starting to get the game is a much more valuable learning tool to beginners than most of the “lessons” on KZbin.

Nice you're getting there. One other tip i think will get you to rank up super fast is. To side step the more you play the more you'll get a feeling for the small gaps and openings in between the different characters strings. Typically what happens is people try to attack their opponent between the gaps in their opponents strings and they almost always get counter hit. What you should start doing is side stepping in those gaps instead of attacking.

It's been great seeing Afro learn Tekken, one of the most satisfying grinds there is imo. All he needs now is to move slightly better (dash a bit more instead of just walking back) and a basic combo for dragunov's common launchers (df 2 and ws 2), stuff like this took me from beginner blue ranks to almost red ranks, the red ranks are beating my ass tho so I need to improve nonetheless.
