Such a crappy time of year! Zoysia looks like it should be interesting 👌

Yeah winter is the pits mate, I cant wait to see how the zoysia goes once spring hits and it fills in
@typedbyben3 жыл бұрын
Brenton always brings interesting comparisons to KZbin. Very much enjoyed the Tif variety history lesson too. Only thing I can say about the zoysia is the old "watched pot never boils" adage. Where bermuda will sometimes start to run two weeks after transplant, zoysia has something more like two growing seasons before that transplant shock is over. It is remarkable once it does. Undesirable species in zoysia can only grow in the top between the canopy and in thatch seemingly, they never have roots beyond the superficial level
@theaussielawn3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ben I def cant wait to see that zoysia do its thing. Interesting point you make about the undesirable species growing in zoysia, Hope you have a great weekend

Hey Brenton, Mate this is just my 2cents worth but for guys like me who only have the KZbins and not FaceGram or InstaBook, I would have liked to see you building that rock wall. It diversifies your channel which is handy in the cooler months when the turfs not doing much.
@theaussielawn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete I definitely agree re the content variety. that wall started off with not too much motivation so i didnt film it as i started to get in the groove i just wanted to poke along with out worrying about various camera angles etc, I might try film a little bit of it next time I do some more work to it
@petern63363 жыл бұрын
@@theaussielawn Hey Brenton, Sounds good. I completely understand the initial lack of motivation with the rock wall. We have extensive rock edges at my place. Luckily my wife does a good job of playing Tetris with them. I just have to man handle the big ones until they are “just right” according to the minister of garden design. I really enjoy your channel. I’m glad you didn’t take my comment as a criticism as it wasn’t meant to be.

What’s the reason for leaving the broadleaf weeds in the test plots vs picking them out? Is spraying them out a better and preferred method? Thanks for the great videos!

Bent will grow beautifully here during winter but as soon as it warms up its not suitable for my area unfortunately the amount of water and care it demands is not economical 😞 Maybe down the track i might toy with a bent over sow but lots of other projects to do before that 😎

Great video. We have a few months left of growing for warm season turf here in Texas, and I am sprigging Zeon Zoysia in 3 weeks. I’m expecting it to spread pretty slow but hopefully some good progress before the days get short. I’m still interested to hear the variety of your dwarf zoysia when the secret gets out. The lateral growth looks very slow, how about the vertical growth? Did you spray it with any PGR?
@theaussielawn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jared As much as I don't want you guys to end your summer Im really keen to start mine LOL. I cant mention too much about the exact variety atm unfortunately but if i get the green light to do so I will. My zoysia has had no PGR It was planted right at the end of my summer, Im really keen to see how much it speeds up once the weather warms up. Ive been told it will be more like a slow couch / bermuda think 50% slower.
@mickdemi63 жыл бұрын
Looking good apart from the frost but hay it is what it is. Looks like the zoysia is in need of some top dressing to give the runners something to run into but hay it's winter and it won't be doing a lot. Good to see all the soil is still there 🤣

Hi How can I get rid off buffalo lawn without damaging other varieties lawn in my garden?
@theaussielawn3 жыл бұрын
Gday Bob if your looking to kill buffalo lawn out of say a couch lawn for example look for a selective herbicide such as diacamba or anything (other than glyphosate) that clearly states on the bottle “do not apply to buffalo lawns” that will be a sure fire way to treat unwanted buffalo turf
