I'm disappointed, but not surprised. His excellent State of the Union speech was prepared by a speechwriter and read from a teleprompter. He seldom takes questions, and usually has a list of reporters' questions and an answer card. He prepared for this debate for a WEEK at Camp David. There were no surprise topics, and Trump was Trump. I blame the DNC for not holding him to his promise to be a one-term transition President.

I do not buy the argument this guy makes that Biden's debate performance doesn't relate to his skills as a president. He needs to be able to think on his feet and deliver messages forcefully. What we saw last night was not lack of preparation, it was not just an "off night," and it was not just a poor debate performance ala Obama's poor debate against Romney. Biden's debate performance frankly scared me. Russia was watching, China is watching and they are loving every minute of this. I have a gazillion critiques of Trump, but he was usual, lying Trump. And Biden's debate performance isn't allowing us to keep the lying at the forefront like it should be. Biden's family needs to step in and convince him that the country needs him to step aside for the sake of us all. Stepping aside is the last patriotic and selfless thing Biden could do for his country-- a country he says he loves so much.

I subscribed to Katie's channel to get a "balance". Katie has always been more objective, fair, and moderate in regard to either party. A lot of YT channels are far left or far right. So, I was curious as to see how Katie would react given, she has always impressed me as being someone in the middle devoted to fair, accurate journalism. And she did not disappoint in pointing out the obvious cognitive decline. It's a form of elderly abuse for Democrats to enable Biden to continue. I am in the middle registered as independent. I was more conservative and Republican when I was younger, but as the years went by, I found myself too far from the right or left to commit to either party. From that perspective, I have concerns with Trump's convictions and Biden's cognitive decline. They are both bad choices. I'm at a loss. I also study data science and am working on a PhD in my 50s. As an older graduate student with many years of research on predictive models, the keys devised by Allan Lichtman are the most robust and accurate. Lichtman's model has been most accurate in predicting presidential elections and most other models do not achieve similar success. He has argued on his channel that debates and polls are not reliable. However, he is so obsessed with defending the "robustness" of his model that he ignores the massive cognitive decline from the perspective of public health. I studied dementia for the MPH and recall a major discussion with epidemiologists on how to measure quality of life in the case of cognitive decline for elderly patients. The health complications, risks, hospice, home aid, daily tasks, handicaps related to loss of functions, etc. were analyzed and discussed. It just seems absurd that the Democrats have enabled Biden this long. With that said, it seems too late to get a viable replacement. I think Biden will continue to the election. Lichtman's model may likely be right. But I can't see Biden functioning reliably with cognitive abilities need to manage the country as a president going into 2025 and beyond. Even right now he is suspect - who is really running the government? If Lichtman's model is right, Harris better get ready to take over.

Last night was an embarrassing time to be an American. We have two candidates who, for different reasons, are obviously unfit to be President. I'm a lifelong US Democrat who voted for Biden in 2020 and think that he had a very good first term. That said, It's clear from the debate that Joe is rapidly deteriorating mentally and physically. Biden must step aside and allow the Democratic convention to select a nominee to replace him. Sadly, it's time to take away the keys.

I don't know but the thought of the Democratic delegates and super delegates choosing a candidate to replace Biden doesn't seem like a bad idea. They would at least be able to make an informed decision, and once they're backing one person, it wouldn't be hard to get the rest of the Democrats on board. No Democrat wants Trump to win.
