I have found that playing the Kan Sicilian Defense it comes as a surprise to many. There is a good book on it by Mortazavi. It is quite flexable and has been played by some good solid players. Good to see it still in play. The developer of it, Ilya Kan, I believe, was a serious Soviet player back in the 1940' and 50's. Seems like them old Soviet guys worked hard to invent good lines.

#suggestion antonio for aprils fools u can make a video analyzing a game but discussing some absurd moves like sacrificing a queen for a pawn and just blundering a piece etc. idk i thought about it a couple of times and had to write it xd for example in 1:53 u can say that black can win a pawn by queen captures a knight on c3, but parham for some reason doesnt go for that (act as if u are serious abut it). if u read it keep that in mind or at least consider it :p best wishes i love you

#suggestion Tal-Keres candidates tournament 1959 (round 24, not the one you covered) remains uncovered on KZbin despite it winning the beat game prize out of the 112 games played that tournament. It was a brilliant game where Keres, needing a win for any chances of meeting Botvinnik, gives Tal an apparent positional advantage only to overwhelm Tal with his better piece play and monstrous pressure. He forces Tal on a tightrope of only moves, only for Keres to win anyway due to his brutal Soviet endgame technique

If you could make your mysterious "sorry about that" movement just a little more mysterious I think we'd all feel a lot more comfortable. The old, "something going on under the desk" was the gold standard in oddball distractions during a chess game narration.

Antonio didnt really mention it but it is astounding how that bishop , although also trapping the rook and protected, is protecting not only that 1 pawn but that other one WAY over there, REALLY messing up Parhams ability to maneuver there, brilliant, really starting to like Maxime alot actually

The reason the position engine was giving such advantage to white was because he could manage to super-develop his two out of three pieces 16:00 while not losing any extra material in trades.

Found it. Spoiler Alert . . . . . . . . At first I thought u were testing if we were masters of the obvious, yet I di play the sequence in my head of the exchange as you showed it, by without the opportune luring of the king to the first rank, by queening. Even the though, with opposite colored bishops I was not comfortable being white. So I checked the board after the actual move that was played and decided it was better. I have to give it to Parham as Maxim is no picnic, especially after that f4 move early on. After the rook lock I would have collapsed, conceded, got up and started chasing reporters. Not Parham. He fought on. Kudos!

“🍄”As I stepped beyond the threshold, I entered another world-like Dorothy walking into Oz. A slight breeze swirled the leaves and branches and blossoms of the garden, brushing the skin on my arms. Soft air and clear light caressed my face. Just then, the music stopped. It took me a moment to realize that the music in my head was actually in my iPod and the iPod must have run out of power. I took out the ear buds and a far more fantastic music flooded in, leaves rustling, birds chirping, insects buzzing, the distant shoosh of tires on the road invisible behind the trees. I sat at the wrought-iron table and put my feet up. The crystalline light astonished me. The air, neither hot nor cold, was invigoratingly dry. I felt energy radiating from my body into the air, mingling with the radiations emanating from all the life surrounding me. I scanned the back yard. The ornamental grasses had begun to shoot out golden tufts; the crepe myrtle, hydrangea, stone crop, petunias and geraniums all had covered themselves in blossoms. Figs grew large and heavy on the fig tree, which exploded tropically in one corner of the yard, and fat red tomatoes swelled on the still leafing vines in another. Tendrils of Virginia creeper and wild grape dripped from the pines across the back fence, persimmons hung from the persimmon tree like Christmas ornaments. I had seen all this the previous morning, and many other mornings before that. But now I had stepped into a page from an illuminated fairy tale. Just as that thought entered my mind, three large yellow butterflies appeared, flitting in spirals around me. I laughed aloud: I was in Oz after all🌄… …I can’t think of any other way to put this but to say the sky opened, and grace poured down all around me. Light itself had transformed into a palpable substance, spilling down as if from a fountain. But it was more than light. It was blessings of every kind, goodness incarnate, flowing inexhaustible and immutable from above. I didn’t say to myself, “What is this?” I didn’t guess. I knew, I saw, I was in the presence of God. This wasn’t a God with whom I could have a conversation, at least not two-way. I think I said, or shouted, “Ok, I am DEFINITELY not an atheist,” but God was mute, or rather, I understood, or perceived, that the only response God would ever make was the boundless bounty of beauty cascading over me. After the shock and awe, my first thought was that this gift absurdly overmatched anything I could possibly have deserved. I thought, and said aloud, “Why me?” Instantly, that seemed too pleased with myself. I could just look at this phenomenon that confronted me, this Niagara Falls of beauty pouring down, and know that I hadn’t been “chosen.” I was no one special. This was just what God was, a permanent condition that somehow had remained invisible to me until this moment..” reset.me/story/tried-psychedelic-mushrooms-35-years-saw-light/🌈 🍂🌄🍄🌄🍂

8. .. Bxc3+ is not a good move. SF17 says 8. .. Ne4 is better. Games which have the Queen chasing after a pawn on the other side of the board from where an opponents King will be castled are unusual for Grandmasters. The Queen should be kept in communication with her King. The opening should be used to control the center and to get your pieces on good squares. Parham should have known better. Antonio shows how the juicy Rook should not be taken. Keeping both Queens on the board would have made for a better game.
