I live in central Oklahoma and it cracks me up to hear people call 85F at this time of year "hot", when our week-long forecast predicts we'll be above 100 for the next week. 85 is springtime for us. Still I guess it's all relative. People in Arizona are probably laughing at all of us. I'm a huge dog-lover and love to see Kip chasing the stick with such gusto.
@AgateAngler4 жыл бұрын
True, it is all very relative. We do get up in to the low 100's by the middle of summer, which is VERY hot for us, but I grew up in Florida, so I know it gets much much hotter. Thanks so much for watching!

I also love to see petrified wood. It's magic, to me. I'm an avowed tree (and nature) lover with a degree in horticulture and landscape design , who also loves stones of all kinds. To think that wood can turn to stone is quite something, to my way of thinking. I don't understand the science of it, and indeed, don't think I want to. Thanks for sharing your finds!

The yellow rock with the agate veining is, I believe, Mook jasper. Jewelry people call it mookite. It takes a nice polish since it is in the nano-quartz family. I enjoy your channel very much.
@AgateAngler4 жыл бұрын
I won't spoil anything for you, but it is technically no longer wood by the time I pick it up, but rather a sort of casting of wood with minerals that took place over thousands of years.

Some of the prettiest pieces of petrified wood that I've seen or cut, were cut cross-grained. It exposes the agattizing & or opalization within the wood structure. One I saw was a single cut, polished & laid out it looked like angel wings. Very beautiful!!! 👍🇨🇦😁💕

You sure found some beautiful pieces of petrified wood! My rock excursions this summer have just been to the local landscaping supply. I go there to buy small boulders to reinforce the creek bank in my back yard, and while I am there, I hunt the piles for cool rocks. I have found some awesome pieces, but to my knowledge, we do not have petrified wood in central Wisconsin. So, I really enjoy watching you find it!

Just make sure it's a shortwave uv light! Agate and opal will only fluoresce under shortwave. Standard black lights are long-wave UV and only a few minerals will fluoresce under long-wave, like calcite and yooperlites. I found one with both long-wave and shortwave on eBay for $40. Cheapest I've found.😉🐾
