Nothing wrong with the shorter videos; you cover all the important things about the Medusa in its duration. :) I had no idea they were so devastating vs buildings with Burning Pitch! I definitely agree that the fact that things aren't fully solved with AoM yet is a large part of what makes the game fun and exciting to play! And to think that we're going to get a huge shakeup in probably a month or so, when the Immortal Pillars expansion comes out! A random fun fact learned from the advanced tooltips: the Egyptian petsukos (laser crocodile) is immune to petrification effects. So there’s a fringe case where you counter Medusas with crocs

Those comments in the video pretty much say the most important thing about medusa: the ability is single target wich is not as impactful as a Nemean Lion, Manticore or Chimera. Not to mention that two of those units can be used in heroic age. I DO agree with you of them being really good and I got surprised by how much damage they deal to buildings while having lot of range + hp. But since the ability is single target it makes them hard to micro compared to other myth units + its a mythic age unit that requires 2 or 3 upgrades meaning a big invesntment and the reward pretty much depends on game scenario and match up. And the same thing applies to the Hydra (wich was mentioned in the comments too), too slow, expensive and almost easy to counter. Wich is a shame cuz the Minotaur, Hydra Medusa are my fav combo in the game once you research the Hera upgrade to boost their movement and attack speed. Zeus is so fun. Merry xmas 🎄🎄

the reason medusas are so effective against buildings seem to stem from the fact that the crush damage albeit small (5.5) also benefits from burning pitch which effectively makes the crush damage to 22 per shot which is on top of 140 plus pierce damage against building, which is kinda insane.

Very glad that you did this video, next one i suggest Satyrs, they are really strong and i guess underrated. I do not agree about the opinion thing, in this world there are too many opinions and we need facts. If a unit is really good and stats confirm that then you cannot have an opinion saying it is bad. Stats do not lie.

I don't play online so not sure if my thought process is wrong here, but I like Meudsa either as a counter to mythic spam or wood dump. I like usually having colossus for more frontal assaultues due to their tankiness and their ability to waste enemy resources (though slightly) by their regen ability. Problem with medusa is that I don't usually get use it effectively massed, I may manage to target up to three mythics at a time but after that i sort of let them choose target. Though effective at first, I find it easily counterable as egiptian or atlanthean with ranges heros or with jumping bellerophon when I'm on the back end. Nevertheless, I still find it top tier; and I'm aware I may just have that preference of pushing with colosus nulified by the fact that medusa took benefit from the x4 against buildings, I asumed it didn't because of legacy, but I want to try them as sige now!

The medusa is overall sooo much stronger in retold than EE. Yes it cant oneshot some MUs anymore, but apart from that its better. Imo its much more fun to play against them now and more fun to make them yourself. Nice Vid, Merry Christmas!

Medusa's are good but placed well, not overpowered but not useless. Think players compare it to the legacy version where it 1 hit killed any unit (except heroes/siege etc). You put a medusa up vs a colossus now, it would take 3-4 spec cycles for one medusa to take down the colossus, most battles you simply don't have this amount of time. Oh and Merry Christmas! 🙂

Medusas are very wonderful unit to train cause of wood cost mostly. The most problematic myth units for me to use it is colossus and phoenix, they both cost gold and they are don't have such impact to change battle scenario. Maybe you'll make some videos about them too?

I think the problem with phoenix is their range. Atlantean bird has range.

For the pheonix, range and slowness I would say. Just like the nidhogg. They can't outrun anything and can only escape if there is a woodline, mountain or water to go over 🤔 And I feel like armory upgrades and plenty vault are 80-90% of the reason why players pick hephaestus most of the time. The colossi are also very slow!

@@Ide_AL I agree for all flying units besides nidhogg (because of its status as a mythic age god power)! I don't like how the nidhogg dies super quickly. It can't even take down a town center by itself without losing most of its HP. One greek hero following it is enough to kill it if uninterrupted, and a bunch of archers will kill it very quickly regardless It requires even more micro and careful planning/use than the SoO to be kept safe since You can't have a wall of units in front of it like You can with the SoO 🤔 At lower elos the nidhogg is veeeery easy to kill since 90-95% of players can't micro it well, if they even try

Medusas are very good unit with high damage and tankiness but I wonder why its not used in high elo or tournaments? I see people going Hera for lightning storm but I never see them spamming medusa. Why do you think the cause of this? Bcs Zeus is overall not very picked?

Hi! 🤗 I guess it's two things: one, just as You said, only Zeus can have them, and there are many scenarios where hephaestus might make more sense anyway And two, I think that quite often in any game, by the time players hit mythic age, they're quite commited to the strat they were going for and if the game is very fast paced they might not even think of it, with everything going on 🤔 Those are My two cents!

I'm surprised Medusa beat the mummies so easily, but I still think mummies are the best myth units in the game since will take so easily human unities and convert an army in the middle of the fight (that needs some nerfs IMO lol), however I now think medusas are a close second best myth unit in the game, I mean they destroys high value enemy units and are a top tier ranged siege unit at the same time. As a suggestion for a next video related to that matter would be cool to know your opinion on how they could "fix" fire giants and phoenix, I think they are so bad for a mythic age myth unit, specially the fire giants that were supposed to be the best norse myth unit in the game.

Was watching a casted game last week and the caster said Greek struggle vs Mummies but Zeus does better because he has Bellephoron. I thought yeah.. and Medusa! 400 divine damage is a LOT. I'd say the most spammed range myth units atm are trolls and wadjets - Medusa special instakills both and really hurts Mummies. However, the Medusa has more range than the Mummy(16 > 21 vs 12), so it should get the special off before the Mummy spit and it only takes a couple of extra hits to finish it off. Do have to watch out for the Son of Osiris though, of course. Medusa being half decent at sieging is a real surprise to me however!

They are very good if you have 4-5. You can kite and petrify nicely. I think their weakness is hero arcus with their range or chariot ra if micro. I think Greek has a hard time versus them if you kill their ranged hero. Against norse hypaspist hoplite medusa with some raiding cav is strong. I think medusa and mummies are one of the best if you control group them. They are not so good for noobs. I think noobs benefit more of strong melee myth units with decent speed. That don't need that much control.
